2:09 am
result of not being able to get to hospital quickly is a growing national scandal. it wasn't helped on wednesday by the fact that the ambulance workers were on strike. it's just not on. meanwhile i was out and about shopping in the supermarket this week and i spotted this product. take a look . dettol anti take a look. dettol anti bacterial laundry sanitiser. what the hell is that? it boasts that it's got an additive which kills the covid 19 virus and 99.9% of bakkt's. kills the covid 19 virus and 99.9% of bakkt's . this obsession 99.9% of bakkt's. this obsession , germs, started during the pandemic and we seem to have forgotten the fact that we need bugs to stay healthy. do you remember the endless hand sanitising early on in the pandemic? the authorities were obviously trying to save lives . obviously trying to save lives. give you that, but it doesn't mean that history won't judge them as having been whole heartedly and completely wrong . heartedly and completely wrong. now, don't stay at home
2:10 am
sniffles. research from the mail online found that more half the pubuc online found that more half the public thought people should go to work if they've got a cold. praise the lord. common sense has broken out just christmas i was on a packed train with . was on a packed train with. people squeezed together, coughing and sneezing, not worrying about germs and just back normal life. it was absolute heaven. more of that in 2023. please the cost of living crisis is so bad. tesco is now having to lock up bacon and sausages with premium meats being padlocked in fridges after an explosion in by hungry customers . then you go another customers. then you go another delightful legacy of wilfully our economy. for three years. well done everyone . a stark well done everyone. a stark nationwide report reveals a generation of brits will be locked out . the housing markets locked out. the housing markets . this is a big problem because if young people don't feel they have a stake in the economy, they may reject the very idea of
2:11 am
capitalism altogether , capitalism altogether, potentially supporting a populist figure from the hard like jeremy corbyn or worse, who would take us down the dangerous route of marxism. you have been warned some good news, folks, and furious . putin shows his and furious. putin shows his rage at russia's failing war efforts as he sacks , a senior efforts as he sacks, a senior military leader whose nickname is gen armageddon . that's right. is gen armageddon. that's right. he's nicknamed general armageddon. while this guy has been replaced with someone called captain, what the hell do we do now to get ourselves out of this horrible mess? good vlad. prince harry. he's got enough material for book. some people are shocked, but i personally will be queuing up to buy it. come in handy if there's another role shortage. meanwhile, king charles enjoys impressive in popularity as he visits scotland and jokes with charity workers . far from charity workers. far from damaging the royal family.
2:12 am
harry's endless attacks from the luxury of his californian mansion have served, only to boost the monarchy. so keep attacks coming. harry and last but not least do not disturb an x rated crew of 28 stars . that's x rated crew of 28 stars. that's right, 28 stars booked into a travel lodge to film explicit scenes after being turfed out of nearby nearby hotel . blimey nearby nearby hotel. blimey that's what i call room service . would you like me to fluff up your pillows? and that was dolan's diary. your pillows? and that was dolan's diary . now reacting to dolan's diary. now reacting to the big stories of the week and helping me to take your video calls . is the dancer helping me to take your video calls. is the dancer and entrepreneur kristina rihanoff and welcome to the show. finally in person. always on video links . exactly. so welcome to the studio . and actually, you studio. and actually, you reacted quite strongly there
2:13 am
when i talked about the strikes the nurses, the ambulance rishi sunak planning new law, which means that essential workers cannot stop working. what's your view? such a hard topic, i think because in my facilities where i teach yoga, we have a lot of nurses. we very next to the other towns in general and i see every single day of the work stressed absolute tly, you know, to the point that i just want to give them a hug. you know, it's really sad to see them like. i understand why they want strike. i understand they need a better pay l i understand they need a better pay i understand the need to have a better quality of life to provide for the children. you know, some them moms , know, some of them single moms, they can't afford childcare they can't even afford childcare or, that their or, anything like that on their pay get or, anything like that on their pay get nhs . so pay they get from nhs. so i think there is better has to think there is a better has to be provided for our now be provided for our nurses now doctors and those who provide this very important services to us. about the strikes whether it's right or wrong, i don't know . i think it's right or wrong, i don't know. i think i think it's really sad to see that when
2:14 am
situation of people dying on the roads , they be in the car roads, they be in the car accident or something like that. of course, ambulance should be right to help. lucky said. and take patients to the hospital. i think being in the military, being police officer, being being a police officer, being a nurse, driving ambulance , i nurse, driving an ambulance, i just you're you're doing just think you're you're doing a job that does not allow you to stop because . we're stop working because. we're talking about human lives here . talking about human lives here. absolutely. 100. perhaps it has to be better you know, better policies , how we look after policies, how we look after those people. but it gets you miss the chance and took a chance to be in the services it's perhaps you know that kind of feeling that you're saving someone's life has to be ahead of everything else, too, right? can i talk to you about this product i found in the supermarket ? we have a sweet supermarket? we have a sweet death toll. okay antibacterial laundry sanitiser. death toll. okay antibacterial laundry sanitiser . what the hell laundry sanitiser. what the hell is that? i have no idea. never seen that. but, yeah, it's. i think we became over obsessed with the germs. but remember, we're supposed to have them around us to actually build the immunity and, you know, find you
2:15 am
mustn't immunity that will get you cancelled. i know, i know. conspiracy theories . there is conspiracy theories. there is such a thing as rights. i think they used to be three years ago, three years ago. exactly. exactly. now we're all coughing and puffing because if somebody next to us, we right away catch him. because i think we all kind over sterilise, you know , you over sterilise, you know, you know this i'm not i'm not i'm not a doctor. i'm not a scientist. i can't imagine that it's good for our health to kill all of these bugs all the time. i didn't think that the hand sanitising was healthy because surely you risk creating superbugs and now you're going to sanitise laundry all never use it. and especially as a as a mom, obviously i have lots of laundry for the children and i would never wash any of the stuff with you know, because it's almost like a bleach something like that. yeah. it's just horrible i think and i don't think is great for our skin that something is good for our environment. a big story this week. i don't know if you caught it at the conservative mp
2:16 am
andrew bridgen, who has lost the conservative whip, so he's no longer a conservative mp, at least for the being. and this is he's been very vocal about the vaccine and vaccines , effects vaccine and vaccines, effects and harms . and i think he made a and harms. and i think he made a mistake by quoting somebody in relation the holocaust, because i don't think that you should compare anything . the holocaust, compare anything. the holocaust, an appalling horror, one of the great crimes of history. however, i don't think he should apologise for raising a national conversation about the small but significant kent harms from the vaccine . i also think that vaccine. i also think that everybody's still has their opinion and we can express that opinion, you know, like you said, perhaps the cloud didn't help. it should have been used in the content of history. but at the same time, you know why we cannot have an opposition of opinions . you know, it is just, opinions. you know, it is just, you know . we all we live in the you know. we all we live in the polarised world and you know, there is always going to be two spectrums, opposite spectrums, two opposite spectrums, two opposite spectrums single spectrums of every single conversation. have are
2:17 am
conversation. and we have are going obviously a lot of going to have obviously a lot of people very, very strongly people feel very, very strongly about the vaccines and that's what he was doing . your view on what he was doing. your view on that really ? yeah. i mean, look, that really? yeah. i mean, look, i'm i'm triple vaccinated and the government are very clear . the government are very clear. these vaccines are safe and effective . of course, arguably effective. of course, arguably the most tested vaccines in history billions of people have had it. what i object to is vaccine tyranny. the fact that care home workers lost their jobs for not having the jab and the pressure on people to have the pressure on people to have the vaccine. and that's the conversation we need to have. that's the lesson need to learn. and it's not unreasonable for bridgen raise issue of bridgen to raise the issue of the people who have been impacted by the vaccine . that impacted by the vaccine. that may a tiny number. those may be a tiny number. those people exist and they deserve to be. of course, i agree. 100. i think exactly goes back to this fact that we can express our opinion about the vaccine and we shouldn't be punished for that in that nature . vladimir putin in that nature. vladimir putin is not happy. he's just sacked
2:18 am
his senior military leader. armageddon so what a name is that? that was armageddon for him and his career. do you think that 2023 this year we'll see end to that war? hope so. and we all will hope it's going to end on as soon as possible. of course, any any of this news extremely , extremely sad indeed. extremely, extremely sad indeed. and look, before before we get the calls , this shocking story, the calls, this shocking story, tesco having to use locks on leave that when i've seen that i just couldn't believe it it's a padlock on your sausages. just couldn't believe it it's a padlock on your sausages . yes padlock on your sausages. yes okay but isn't sad that we came to this that people are so hungry instead of stealing going to supermarkets , perhaps wanted to supermarkets, perhaps wanted to supermarkets, perhaps wanted to feed not actually themselves, but the children or i don't know , someone they look after at home grandparents. it is really really sad that we have so many food banks now in our nation and you have to look you have and
2:19 am
the sausages , i mean, this is the sausages, i mean, this is terrible, right? yeah. what i regret i understand the government were trying to save lives when they locked down, but there was no conversation about there was no conversation about the impacts of economic the human impacts of economic damage. and here we are . here we damage. and here we are. here we are, you know, say, well , look, are, you know, say, well, look, cristina, we've got lots of stories to get and cannot wait stories to get and i cannot wait to sink my teeth into them. christine cristina rihanoff is with alongside my brilliant and well , let me with alongside my brilliant and well, let me tell you that the topics tonight are very, very lively indeed . here we go. we lively indeed. here we go. we have follows. should we get tougher on people that litter the streets? do companies have a right to know what you get up to online. is it for prospective employers to ask for your dating app employers to ask for your dating app details so they can have a look. oh my goodness i'm. shocked. but first up, as a debate rages about whether mp should be allowed to have jobs, bbc presenter ex—footballer gary lineker has told press this week we would get better if we paid
2:20 am
them more of a underpaid . them more of a underpaid. discuss that .
2:21 am
2:22 am
2:23 am
next welcome to mark dolan tonight and the people's hour in which i am taking your video calls coming up between and 9:00 should we be tougher those who litter the streets and do companies have a right to know what employees get to online ? what employees get to online? there's talk of some employers asking for potential employees to send their tinder profiles and other details about who they're dating. surely that breaches their human rights. we'll discuss that . but first, we'll discuss that. but first, as they debate rages about whether mps be allowed to have second jobs, bbc presenter and ex—footballer gary lineker has told the press this week that we get better politicians if we paid them more so are they
2:24 am
sufficiently remunerated ? are sufficiently remunerated? are they within their rights to supplement their income or should they exist only to serve their constituents? let's speak to laws in windsor high lords. hi, mark, how are you? i'm very well now. laughs. you look like a well—to—do man. you look like you've got about eight jobs . you've got about eight jobs. i have a i have a few jobs. you've got about eight jobs. i have a i have a few jobs . well, have a i have a few jobs. well, there you go. you i got that right. my middle class was working . what do we think about working. what do we think about this? because i'm torn. i'm 5050. on the one hand, i think they should be paid simply to focus on the needs of their constituents. on the other hand, i want to attract the best potential public representatives . if you're a high flyer in, a different industry, i think you've got a role to play in the house commons. you've got a role to play in the house commons . you do? i don't house commons. you do? i don't necessarily think having a second job is a is a problem
2:25 am
depending on what that job is. but i also think it ought to be controlled by the parliamentary standards committee . you know, standards committee. you know, you have you have doctors are members of parliament who also need to maintain their their general practise certificates . general practise certificates. and of course, of course , mark, and of course, of course, mark, you forgetting that you have mps that are also presenters on so you know she banned them from having jobs you're going to have to find some new presenters let's get laws let me let's bnng let's get laws let me let's bring christina into this if we can i'd love to hear what my presenters friend thinks about this kristina rihanoff, who is of course, strictly star a dancer and an entrepreneur as. well, you've got a few jobs. let's get everyone in on this if we can. i'd love to have lawson on the show as well. listen, christina, what do you think about this? are mvp's underpaid 7 about this? are mvp's underpaid ? numbers read in that ? the numbers i read in that article are shocking. much article are shocking. so much money on public appearances, talking about being politicians
2:26 am
. oh, i think i agree with les. if is the job which is complete, the difference to the what they do in parliament than fair play because of the doctors lawyers or anything of that nature . but or anything of that nature. but i think of them making money because elected by the public, i think in sort of some kind of way money has to go back to the pubuc way money has to go back to the public because they elected them. they now have a chance to make a lot money and go round the world and do public appearances . talking about appearances. talking about parliament at last, i'm going to come back to you in just a moment. but sue is with us now. so let's head over to sue in cheshire , who is one of my cheshire, who is one of my favourite contributors, the people's hour. and so great to see you again as you are a book keeper by trade. so, you know about numbers. it's my view that employees are underpaid paid and i agree with lineker and i've never said that before i think they should get a pay boost so that don't need second jobs. what's your view ? i'm afraid what's your view? i'm afraid this is one of the few things
2:27 am
that i disagree with you about mark. i think there are well over mark. i think there are well ove r £5,000 a year required to over £5,000 a year required to go salary . and i think you don't go salary. and i think you don't go salary. and i think you don't go to in an mp for them earning loads of money. i don't and i, it's quite all right for them to have a second job with capital at providing they do their 35, 40 hours a week for , their 40 hours a week for, their constituents nobody works 24 seven for any employer. and i think it be very transparent they should say how much they pay they should say how much they pay to that party, robin, how long they work to get that. i agree with last that you know doctors and nurses have to keep their certificates in the have and lawyers are the same except when you slack somebody mr. cox who spends his time in the virgin islands and he's miles away from me same at that shoes i think he should not be doing that. and i don't think people should be going away to do i'm a
2:28 am
celebrity, get me out of the united. i think you should spend just, you know, minimum hours working for your constituents . working for your constituents. let's get laws back on this. if can sue and i'll come back to you. of course, laws the point is that we want to attract the brightest and best. if you can't have a second job, it's going to be career politicians, isn't it 7 be career politicians, isn't it ? people that started as councillors and were student campaigners at the age of 16. they know nothing about, nothing about the real world. but we've already got career politicians in reality because there are people like that. david was an ideal example of that was a he was a researcher in the conservative research department became member of parliament and then became the prime minister. these people like that don't always have the experience from business and actually if you're in business actually a pay cut for you because , if you're a for you because, if you're a director of a company and, you're earnin g £120,000, you you're earning £120,000, you become a member parliament not
2:29 am
because of the money, but because of the money, but because of the fact that you want to serve public. but there is also the added thing is we have the expenses scandal a number of years ago in america. they get paid a fixed amount, but that includes office expenses. so there is an argument to say increase , argument to say increase, increase the salary but don't let them claim expenses . yeah, let them claim expenses. yeah, that might be a solution . sue, that might be a solution. sue, i felt sorry mps and again, that's not something i say very often on this show in relation to the to scandal around mp expenses as exposed by the telegraph some years ago and the reason why felt sorry for them is the house of commons authorities said look make as many claims you like because that is in lieu that's the alternative an actual pay rise. the house of commons authorities said, look , public authorities said, look, public won't swallow a pay , but we'll won't swallow a pay, but we'll give you the pay rise via expenses. give you the pay rise via expenses . so there is a problem
2:30 am
expenses. so there is a problem here . well, i agree with that. here. well, i agree with that. but then when it came into being, they did get a massive pay being, they did get a massive pay rise in lieu of their expenses and a content stand. why an organisation like it can't get a grip on their expenses. i think they ought to get people in there who run and run and expenses for their staff because . if you're a member of because. if you're a member of staff running all the business in the in the private sector, you wouldn't away with all of what they get away with or the amounts of money they get for doing stuff. it's very difficult. when i was in the bank, you know, you had to your receipts for everything . i mean, receipts for everything. i mean, i was allowed to have extra jobs if i wanted as long we didn't bnng if i wanted as long we didn't bring the bank into disrepute and had no know desire to be an escort. so didn't bother me and i think the expenses thing is a danger place for the employees . danger place for the employees. i don't see why we get food or
2:31 am
dnnk.l i don't see why we get food or drink. i don't see why i don't see why we get food or drink . i don't see why the they drink. i don't see why the they can get three or drink. i don't see why the they can get three 0 r £400 just for can get three or £400 just for totally not signing a bit of paper and then they can be off for the rest of the day. they should have to prove that they're full time. and if you haven't done it and if you haven't done it and if you haven't done it and if you haven't done the speech , the haven't done the speech, the house of parliament for two years more, i think years or more, then i think ought get kicked out . i mean, ought to get kicked out. i mean, it's a very a very it's very important job. sue and you're. i agree with that. i mean, last let's have a look. the average size of a uk constituency , size of a uk constituency, you're looking at 60, 70,000 people. that's a big i think should get 200 grand a year. give up their other jobs, as you say, give up the and let's have the and the best. there are plenty of people lost. and you may be you may be cognisant of these people out there who would love to mps but can't afford do that job because some of this is down to the selection of mps as
2:32 am
well . so it's not just well. so it's not just a question of a we'll pay more we're about get better quality mps political parties have got to be able to select the right candidates in the first place because without the right candidates you're not going to have of people to have the quality of people to sit in parliament if you're going to pay the m £200,000, you going to pay them £200,000, you know everybody will want the job because it's £200,000 to sit on the green benches . although the green benches. although i have to say that mp to work very hard, it's not a 35, 40 hour a week i might know. mp that i've done 60, 70 hours a week because they come home on a thursday and they've doing friday, thursday , they've doing friday, thursday, saturday in the constituent deaung saturday in the constituent dealing with the surgeries and all the other stuff that they have to deal with. and i'm not saying that the bus not right. i'm staying. they chose that job. they knew they knew what they were going to have to do when they entered parliament. they knew it was going to be a 60, hour a week , a week job. 60, 70 hour a week, a week job. but i think there's a lot of people that don't understand
2:33 am
actually the amounts of hours that members of parliament spend. and i'm not saying all members of parliament spend that amount of time because they're lazy members of parliament that will just do what's right and. the same as councillors. you'll get will only do what they need to do the job. indeed. let's bnngin to do the job. indeed. let's bring in christine to hand off back into this conversation . and back into this conversation. and let's let's keep sue laws, if we can . and let me sort of ask you can. and let me sort of ask you now collectively for a raised of the hands, please raise your hand. you think mps should be allowed have a second job. i i. okay. oh, there you go. all right. so larsen c was saying . right. so larsen c was saying. yes, christine. christine christina says no , and now let christina says no, and now let me go through each of you, first of all, christina, how much do you think mps should get paid per year? i'm saying 200,000 for every member of parliament and
2:34 am

2:39 am
welcome back to the people's houn welcome back to the people's hour, which is of mark dolan tonight. don't forget often nine all of your favourite elements my big opinion monologue take it ten and tomorrow's papers live and uninterrupted 1020 that's 10 minutes earlier than everyone else but we start always with your video coming up short lee do companies have a right to know what you get up to line as a employer has been asking potential employees for tender details , dating profiles and details, dating profiles and their twitter handle. surely thatis their twitter handle. surely that is a to their privacy and free speech. but first a cash for litter scheme be launched in the next two years in which members of the public are paid to return items like glass bottles, metal cans and plastic packaging . this news comes as packaging. this news comes as the keep britain tidy charity say the public are littering more than ever. so how do we
2:40 am
best tackle this problem ? best tackle this problem? incentivise the public with a cash for litter scheme . tough cash for litter scheme. tough love with , harder punishments love with, harder punishments for those who chug litter on streets. let's speak to fergus in greenwich. hi, fergus hi there, mark. great to have you back. how of the streets of greenwich actually is a pretty good, i have to say. not totally good, i have to say. not totally good , but pretty good. i say good, but pretty good. i say forget the carbon zero. that's a joke. litter zero. let's have a litter zero. policy. if you sink concepts and suddenly enough eco events where they're saying we must look after the planet, they go away. and innocent people , go away. and innocent people, come along and clean the village, green , clear a bridge. village, green, clear a bridge. now my father in law is retired in north yorkshire and they brought out a very strong the local council about you throwing a cigarette butt away. you behind on somebody was he said that's good. we don't want any that's good. we don't want any that rubbish in our streets in
2:41 am
northallerton of is as they to help that and he was right i've walked along the street and i've seen people a can of coke or bottle water and they just throw it over the shoulder. and as it does, i do that at home. it's the scary thing is probably do a you were just saying about taking bottles back i remember as early teenager in paddington i met some boys in let's collect the bottles let's the bottles and you walk around you find the lemonade bottles the ties , the lemonade bottles the ties, the bottles, the beer bottles. it was an episode of hancock's half hour when he took the bottles back to the wrong shop. that's albie. that's long and gear and iused albie. that's long and gear and i used to collect, literally carry bags of bottles in the street , take them to the off street, take them to the off licence and get paid sixpence a bottle. brilliant you always used to put your milk bottles up, looked clean and up, which looked clean and reused. think of how many of reused. it think of how many of these useless masks which don't stop all being dumped in the stop at all being dumped in the streets. yes, it does work. s o. i know i've put in indeed. so i
2:42 am
mean, i should say for the for the for the purposes balance that there are plenty that believe the masks do a difference. but you are entitled fergus to your view. what we can agree on is that they are dreadful for the those masks of course not biodegradable and not recyclable. let's bring, if we can, norma, into conversation. norma in grand canaria, which is in the islands. norma, are you on holiday or do you live there ? no holiday. that's very . i ? no holiday. that's very. i went to gran canaria. many years ago. i got gastroenteritis and i think my vomit is in one of those pools . yeah . now, norma, those pools. yeah. now, norma, let's get down business. what do you think about litter ? should you think about litter? should we get tough with them ? i agree we get tough with them? i agree with your last . last with your last. last commentator. really i'm against being told what to do. i don't
2:43 am
like being told what to do. i was against vaccine mandate. so gates, masks, everything, like . gates, masks, everything, like. but this is something that is really serious. and we have to do something about it. however i'm also sure about the carrot approach . you know, i. yeah, approach. you know, i. yeah, i do think that really should be more severe. i agree with you last year, last speaker for us concentrate god's sakes, is boring. you now, i was getting the stick to beat the up, the carrot and the stick . i'm going carrot and the stick. i'm going to use a stick . he's got to use a stick. he's got a stick. he's not afraid to use that normal. carry on. i know . that normal. carry on. i know. now the i live in italy and mar all parts of italy . there isn't all parts of italy. there isn't all parts of italy. there isn't a little problem because they're really, really strict . i mean, really, really strict. i mean, let me confess to start with,
2:44 am
i've never i've never ever a little bit in my life, i mean , i little bit in my life, i mean, i just don't say things like that because. i'm married to a wonderful bloke. he's my domestic goddess. and he does all that. so i have to consult with him about what goes on. but anyway i remember about six years ago, he was very stressed and he was very because suddenly italy declared that all the bins , all the big things that you have in the. so the wheelie bins were all going to be done away with . and my husband was kind of with. and my husband was kind of like devastated. like what we're going to do with the rubbish. and they said instead we're going to have these little tiny bins and they're about two foot high the, you know, little high and. the, you know, little different colours very muted different colours but very muted colours for different bits of refuse . and i'm very sorry it refuse. and i'm very sorry it happened overnight and everybody was up in arms because don't like being told what to do but everybody is up in arms. like being told what to do but everybody is up in arms . the everybody is up in arms. the
2:45 am
wheelie bins like disappeared within two weeks and suddenly these bins arrived and also accompanied by a law that if didn't obey the law and you didn't obey the law and you didn't put the right thing in the right bin right day, then you would be and everything well bin has a barcode on it so they know what your refuses everything like that. i'm honestly there was total outcry about it total outcry but everybody had to comply because there's such heavy fines to it. now, six years later. i mean , now, six years later. i mean, you know, it took a little bit of it's a bit of pay and a few people did get done for it. but six years later, the system beautifully and we had a total clean streets and little bins aesthetically pleasing. we don't great big wheelie bins everywhere . we live in everywhere. we live in a mediaeval city city. so everything is totally beautifully, aesthetically and there's no rubbish anywhere . there's no rubbish anywhere. you're lucky you also have also the very strict about dog poo .
2:46 am
the very strict about dog poo. so for instance, you call it if you're if you're seen to put dog poo in any the breakfast bins, you know that's that's prison you know that's that's prison you know that's that's prison you know there's a special for don't come so you know it's okay it's a no we live virtually in a police state italy right on this particular count i agree with i hated the vaccine mandate i hate to do it. you know, that is what it's like to live in a repressive regime. sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn't. norma i agree with you. amen to that. norma i agree with you. amen to that . and i think i'm hearing on that. and i think i'm hearing on your side of stick rather than carrots. i think tough love is the answer. look we've got no time left. but your aim gran canaria, you're on holiday. it's what quarter to ten right now . what quarter to ten right now. yeah. are you are you are you going to the beach. are you going to the beach. are you going skinny dipping. are you going skinny dipping. are you
2:47 am
going to a ball, a nightclub, a discotheque? what's the plan, norma. yeah we're all. we all living on the beach? yeah what do you do now? yeah, just downstairs for one, for us . downstairs for one, for us. yeah. by the sea you're making. you're making ferguson . you're you're making ferguson. you're making ferguson. i very jealous, but at least we got to see ferguson's stick, which is bigger than i expected . bigger than i expected. ferguson, come and see us again soon, norma, as well. have a lovely holiday and we'll get the views of christine rihanna off shortly because next up, i'll be asking , should employers be able asking, should employers be able to monitor their employees social activities? is it all right , someone that's social activities? is it all right, someone that's going to hire you to see your twitter and wants to know about your dating profile . that's private. we'll profile. that's private. we'll discuss that .

2:54 am
prevents the employer looking into it and fair. i think what happens your private life it is should stay private as it's called private. and that's absolutely correct. i worked at the school my daughter's school for a while. it was just covering maternity leave and i'm doing some classes of fitness classes, dance classes . i had an classes, dance classes. i had an enhanced dbs. classes, dance classes. i had an enhanced dbs . and i think, you enhanced dbs. and i think, you know , that's a fair play. we know, that's a fair play. we that has to be done very thoroughly when you work with children . and i don't think children. and i don't think giving your private accounts on dating is should be allowed . no, dating is should be allowed. no, i mean, i'll honest full disclosure when i joined gb news didn't do any checks they'll take anyone but the issue we've got adic is i suppose in relation to teachers it's isn't it. so for example , paul, do you it. so for example, paul, do you want a primary school teacher to be a star. the subscription websites onlyfans in which they're posing . let's go back
2:55 am
they're posing. let's go back happenedin they're posing. let's go back happened in canada with these transgender women with that big the woodwork teacher sorry . the the woodwork teacher sorry. the woodwork teacher . exactly. that woodwork teacher. exactly. that gave me work. it was no problem there. but now when coming to a more private and more normal human being sorry about to say that it's become a problem . when that it's become a problem. when i think all these accounts only in so it's not just your it's straight away i think there are some stages to go on that account and i don't see any problem here specifically right right now when the income people become shorter people need some supplemental some some supplemental some some supplement . why not. i don't see supplement. why not. i don't see any harm . and specifically any harm. and specifically people can actually create or educate about balance , which a educate about balance, which a
2:56 am
lot of people living the life like now online are completely unbalance . and maybe some unbalance. and maybe some example what is a balance between real life and what is a balance about having on the internet and someone with common sense and someone on the ground maybe can give that balance to people who have no balance anymore . i think young people anymore. i think young people 90% of young people have a facebook, instagram account. they're living the life online. people need to educate on how to live a real life as i personally don't see any problem with that. again dbs check if it's criminality has happen. nothing happened. and i think that these kind of people i actually i did there was the newspaper about there was the newspaper about the teacher in cornwall and good for him did look at the picture well good for him i wish i was able to do it myself. well, i think if i was hiring you, i

3:08 am
golden rule. what is that? we don't do boring. not on my watch. i just won't it? so for the next 2 hours, big debates, big guests and, always big opinions. and it's saturday. so let's have some fun the way. and let's have some fun the way. and let's start with this . i was let's start with this. i was shocked to hear the story . a 28 shocked to hear the story. a 28 year old dog walker out with eight animals being mauled to death in a surrey park . now, death in a surrey park. now, this woman reportedly the dogs and was doubtless on good terms with them. but after she interview and when one of the dogs attacked passing dog, these creatures developed a pack mentality and went for her in what was a truly horrific and frenzied attack according witnesses she was tangled up in dog leads and couldn't even use her arms or stand up properly to , keep the dogs away as this
3:09 am
hellish played out. she passers by to stay away as well as she perished at the hands of these hounds. perished at the hands of these hounds . none of these dogs were hounds. none of these dogs were categorised as being dangerous breeds. and it's a timely that any dog can be a threat. any dog can turn on you, any dog can be vicious. it doesn't that at least two of the dogs were in the large dog category. can you imagine what this poor woman went through? the terror , the went through? the terror, the pain, the horror . there were no pain, the horror. there were no words. and my heart goes out to her. loved ones as they try to process this inexplicable freak occurrence . but it raises an occurrence. but it raises an important question about dog with many people having bought puppies during the pandemic , a puppies during the pandemic, a good number have either found the animals too much to deal. once they got bigger or following the lifting of covid measures found whilst they were
3:10 am
at home non—stop for two years. and now needed back in the office and need someone else to take care of their pets. i have to say i find the growing number of professional dog walkers to be the worst example of our consumerist society . too many consumerist society. too many people , in my view, want to buy people, in my view, want to buy a pet and enjoy the perks without having to do any of the work. but why buy dog if you can't take it for a walk? it's lazy and it can't be great for the mental health of the animal who would surely like to be with its owner. and it can't be great for the animals physical health ehhen for the animals physical health either. dogs are not to be walked on leads in a group of eight. they to be on their own, dashing around a field and bringing a stick or a ball back to their and the explosion in dog walking services is bad news for other members of the public and other dogs as these vast packs of animals in a mega group
3:11 am
foul they bark and at times can be quite hard to actually get past which is for pensioners and children . following the tragic children. following the tragic of this poor woman. i believe that rules should come into place in relation to these dog services with licence required and a maximum of say four animals per dog walker and perhaps controlled zones as is the case in a number of public parks , including london's parks, including london's hampstead . but above and beyond hampstead. but above and beyond that , it's hampstead. but above and beyond that, it's time for a wider conversation about how we treats our animals. we call ourselves in britain a nation of animal lovers , but there's not much lovers, but there's not much proof of that when we're so willing to buy these creatures but not be around them. we seem to have forgotten that pets are not a disposed item. it's not like buying a flat screen tv or the guardian points out that 20 years ago there were only around
3:12 am
6 million dogs in the uk compared with 13 million today. now much i love dogs. i'm sure that's a good thing these creatures have huge demands . creatures have huge demands. they need to get out two or three times a day. they need exercise. they need great nutrition and. they need company. what they don't need is the cramped company of seven or eight other animals via paying for the attention of an oversized dog walking professional . if you can't take professional. if you can't take dog for a walk, don't get a dog in the first place. if you don't have time for walkies walk away . wha have time for walkies walk away. wha lots of people have dogs and they need the services of a dog walker. perhaps they've got a hybnd walker. perhaps they've got a hybrid work situation. so maybe it's part time in the office when they need the dog walker and part time at home. what is
3:13 am
your solution? have you got a pet? do you use a dog walker. are you a dog walker? let me know your thoughts. especially you don't agree because this programme is all about opinions. market gb news co uk. i'll market gb news dot co uk. i'll come to your opinions shortly . come to your opinions shortly. first let's get the views of brilliant panel. we have broadcasting legend david olympic gymnast lisa mason and broadcaster and political commentator peter . peter, great commentator peter. peter, great to have you back on the show. it's been far too long. obviously a very tragic . what do obviously a very tragic. what do you think when you see large packs of dogs out for a walk with one person? well, i'm cat man myself, so i kind of bristle when i see large dogs because i completely appreciate that they you know, they are descendants of wolves and they are very primal beings. the average dog has a jaw that can inflict hundreds of pounds of pressure and weight onto the average person is enough to break bones . you know, the average

domesticated pet can't do that. dogs are a special type of animal and. i think for that reason, they also carry a certain type of enhanced risk. for that reason, i think really what need to start doing is instead of blaming the dogs, we need to stop making dog more responsible and. that means in cases like this , prosecuting cases like this, prosecuting them. under british law , these them. under british law, these dog owners could go to prison for 14 years. why don't start doing of that. it would doing more of that. it would make note. and lisa , make them take note. and lisa, what bothers me is people buy dogs thinking someone will take them for a walk. what's the point in that? i mean , i think point in that? i mean, i think a lot people do that with their kids, don't they. one of the main reasons i've never had a dog, i always say a dog is like having a child that never grows up. for me personally , i'm not. up. for me personally, i'm not. i'm the same as you. i'm very much a cat person . i'm not much a cat person. i'm not really a dog person. i so many of my friends have dogs. i've never really been comfortable in the sense that i do get scared
3:15 am
when dogs jump up at me. i've been walking my child in a stroller and i've had a dog up onto my child's pram and i try to nip her face when she a baby. i'm very, very fearful them and i'm very, very fearful them and i feel a lot of, you know, dog will say, oh, but my dog's not like that don't mean any help. they just plan no i work with children and there's a limit to how many children that can work with individually. and i think there should be a rule in place where you can. i agree with you mark that there should only be a maximum of four even before. i think that's a lot based on is a child you know it's a law and i do think that there needs to be more rules in place as and i don't mean to try and compare two but you know with children there's a lot of rules with dogs i believe there should be a lot rules because the mindset is quite in the sense that quite similar in the sense that you discipline, you know, they need discipline, need need attention need love, they need attention and you know people kind of
3:16 am
think, well, i can just that think, oh, well, i can just that and get away with and i don't and get away with it and i don't think should be the case. think that should be the case. david you think david hamilton, do you think that we should be more careful ? that we should be more careful? we a dog to be sure that we buy a dog to be sure that we'll have time to look after ? we'll have time to look after? yes, actually the dog lover yes, i'm actually the dog lover here on the panel. i do have a dog. i have, i think i told you before , a feisty cocker spaniel before, a feisty cocker spaniel . and sometimes i have heard about your feisty. i knew you're going to make a crack about that. sometimes she does go for other dogs , so i just. i keep other dogs, so ijust. i keep her on the lead and i say to people, i warm them and i say she can be a bit snarky and sometimes they don't take hint, you know. and i feel like saying, well, what more can i do? but now, i do agree with you. i think that a lot of problems have been caused by lockdown where people very lockdown where people were very lonely got pets. and lonely and they got pets. and then as time went by they found that they, know , they that they, you know, they started again and they started working again and they have to look after their have time to look after their dogs and so this what this is happens is they get dog walkers
3:17 am
and in this particular which is and in this particular which is an absolutely tragic story unfortunately the concerned was probably walking many dogs and it's not always the breeds that we think of are dangerous. apparently a lot of these were quite small dogs. i think there was one big dog and the others were quite small but as i know with my little carcase spaniel, little dogs be very, very aggressive. so yes, i think there should be a limit. and people who are walking must be registered properly so that, you know , that we know who the dog know, that we know who the dog walkers are. so it is really really tragic story, but dogs can bring so much into your life, but at the same time , you life, but at the same time, you have to give a lot back to them. and when you when you take on that's the deal, what's your view? are you dog walker? do you use a dog walking service or are you dog owner? do let me know. it's market gb news dot uk still
3:18 am
to come we react to the very sad news. the death, the sudden death of lisa marie presley, the daughter of elvis, will speak to the queen of us. showbiz reporting , kinsey schofield . reporting, kinsey schofield. also, we've got my take at ten and very sad news break—up, the of noel gallagher and his his wife sara macdonald . but it wife sara macdonald. but it provides an opportunity oasis to reunite that's my take it ten you won't want to miss that that's the good news the country needsin that's the good news the country needs in this cost of living crisis so we've got all of that to come but up in the big question is romans dead in the age of dating apps see you shortly shortly .

3:22 am
mauled to death by eight dogs in a surrey park. i think we need tougher eight is ridiculous but your reaction and on email market gb news uk. let's have a look linda says mark make it law that all dogs are muzzled when out on walks. how about this from i think it's lisa . hi mark. from i think it's lisa. hi mark. i'm a dog walker and i never walk more than four dogs together. and then it's only i've walked for a long time and no. well, i mainly 2 to 3 dogs or solo dogs from anything else. it's hard to keep up with them pooing and picking up dog walkers who walk big packs are a danger and greedy for money. i don't know this lady circumstances would never criticise but my absolute condolences to the family. well thank you for that very beautifully written and emailed suffused with sentiment . how suffused with sentiment. how about lyn? hi mark. this is a tragedy. eight dogs being walked at one time should never be allowed. not only is it tragic for this lady , but also for the
3:23 am
for this lady, but also for the owners who now must await the fate of their beloved dogs . dogs fate of their beloved dogs. dogs are a pack animals, and we should be so arrogant that we can control what is in their nature? alan's i completely agree with your views on dog ownership. have a great dane ownership. we have a great dane called tucker who comes to work us every whilst he doesn't us every day whilst he doesn't need masses exercise, he goes need masses of exercise, he goes out three or four times a day and clearly with us and clearly loves being with us and clearly loves being with us and customers . meeting their and our customers. meeting their dogs . never consider dogs would. never consider either leaving him at home or handing him over to care of anyone else. and alan sent me a picture of tucker and he's absolutely gorgeous. i assume it's tucker and not alan. i'll get that verified later. it's time now for this . yes, it's time now for this. yes, it's time for the big question in which we a major news story of day and saturday night to be date night as people all ages took their other halves for an evening, maybe some a movie, a spot of dancing . what happened spot of dancing. what happened to those days ? we now live in
3:24 am
to those days? we now live in a world of online dating, swiping left , right world of online dating, swiping left, right on your phone and quick hook—ups the art of seems to be on the way out. or is that a miss apprehension? that's tonight's big question is romance dead. i'm delighted to be joined kasia noble a dating and relationship expert and, the comedian and relationship lewis schaefer lewis on our i'll come to you very shortly but let me ask you because here you are the professional is romance dead . if professional is romance dead. if you asked me this a year ago, i said yes , but i'm seeing a said yes, but i'm seeing a revival in romance. so i have a lot of students that come to me, a lot of who have just given up with dating apps, we reached peak saturation in 2020 and 2021 and they're now looking a way to meet women that is not at the mercy of an algorithm, and it's
3:25 am
organic. and women , female organic. and women, female friends are also their dating apps. everyone is just experiencing like some kind of like hangover from dating apps. so i think that is definitely a revival. i'm glad to hear that. lewis schafer, you're an old romantic, aren't you , on? i was romantic, aren't you, on? i was an old romantic. i'm not a romantic anymore. don't think changing dating apps will have anything to do with it. is that is that it's too dangerous to date women today mean it's just it's too just dangerous it's the accusations the animosity, the acrimony , the divorce . i mean, acrimony, the divorce. i mean, even even with a beautiful woman here , i mean, it's just it's not here, i mean, it's just it's not it's not worth getting involved . lewis, i think you're telling us your life story that you've revealed a lot in that short answer . what revealed a lot in that short answer. what do you want stand romance to be? lewis how would you define romance ? well i think
3:26 am
you define romance? well i think romance from a woman's point of view isn't the same as it is from man's point of view. i think from a woman's point of view, it's like it's like candy and prizes. it's like a going up to her and just sort of wooing her and then making her making him thinking her love, love him . i don't think that that can exist . i . i don't think that that can exist. i think women are no longer interested in men doing that. they have their own things . unless a man has a lot of lot of things. i see. so you don't think lewis, that women men any more . i don't think that they more. i don't think that they do. i think you hit the nail on the head basically and i was benefits from having divorce it benefits from having divorce it benefits from having split families it benefits economically it doesn't help the children and it doesn't help the people who are involved. but the economy is much richer. and so women work and. they have enough money. maybe they don't make they don't have as much money as men. if they get a divorce but
3:27 am
they have enough money to live. kafia they have enough money to live. kasia agree with what lewis kasia do agree with what lewis has to say. there all sounds very depressing . i agree of some very depressing. i agree of some of what he said, but, you very depressing. i agree of some of what he said, but , you know, of what he said, but, you know, going back to the original question, is romance dead ? you question, is romance dead? you know, you have to look at it as a of people. as i said, that they're done with with kind of like easy hook—ups mean, hook—ups are part a fun but there's so many men and women that one actually that whole kind of like you know courting dining roses taking her for dinner but men and women miss that because as we all know, the catch is so much better if we've had to work for a little bit . so had to work for a little bit. so i think it's something for both men and women i am seeing my students are coming me have said you know they want go back to that and they know how they approach women in the street they approach women in bars and they approach women in bars and they never get you know this kind of like really reaction. i
3:28 am
think a lot it is like just think a lot of it is like just fake news in the media saying that women react this way to men. if you approach a woman with confidence and socrates and you're polite and she's just she's to you know, the words that she's to say is, i'm not interested in that's it . and interested in that's it. and kasia, these dating you know some of my viewers not know but you can go on your phone flick through a load of faces . this through a load of faces. this one you like, you say, yes . and one you like, you say, yes. and an hour later, you're in bed together. you mentioned that some of your clients have gone off . do those apps ever lead to off. do those apps ever lead to lasting love love ? yes, they do lasting love love? yes, they do . but it's getting less and less because lot of people i mean, we're going to be honest, don't look like they're photographs . look like they're photographs. you know, they don't you know , you know, they don't you know, they might be able to be very good at texting and they have this really well constructed bio . but in reality, they don't know to how talk to a woman or
3:29 am
the woman doesn't know how to talk to a man. so i think both parties are let down when they see the woman or the man that they're going to date and they're going to date and they're on the date with because men are always shorter and more life with in real life life and women with in real life that's that's what i'm getting. that's what i'm hearing. so both of them. so even if the woman i see the woman and she's good looking, she's a good looking girl, she'll never be as good as her picture. unfortunately, because of filters so on. so because of filters and so on. so it's always going that it's always going to be that kind like, you know, little kind of like, you know, little bit letdown. i think bit of a letdown. and i think people just done that now. people are just done that now. this is what i'm seeing. this is what i'm hearing from female what i'm hearing from my female friends. dating they friends. we're dating apps. they i'm isn't good i'm done is isn't it good knowing male human nature kasia isn't it good to make men wait a little bit there a famous book a few years ago called the game and i think it explains women in great detail how you go to keep the guy hungry. of course, i love that book. it's a great book. yes, men love the you know, the thrill of the chase.
3:30 am
they love it. and i think women realising that now, like if they give it up easily, no judgement , but if they are giving it up to then the guy's of like, okay, i'm done. i've had my and i'm going to move on and, you know, all this girl power and like that. i think that it's kind of like now it's reached a point where a lot of women are just like unhappy and they want to get into a relationship with somebody and just like casual hook—ups , there are some rare hook—ups, there are some rare occasions when it does work out in a relationship happens as a result but usually it's not like men just like don't have their way and thank you goodbye who's next on the dating app because i don't want to be sexist i try to consider myself a feminist but i just wonder whether these dating for the quick hook—ups are better for men than women is that an unfair generalisation . that an unfair generalisation. look they are on the whole probably better for men because you know male nature they'd rather have like, you know , no
3:31 am
rather have like, you know, no strings attached kind of hook—ups . however, strings attached kind of hook—ups. however, i am seeing lot of men saying, no, i'm not happy with this anymore . like happy with this anymore. like it's getting to a point where it's getting to a point where it's kind of like it's meaningless. they want a relationship with a woman and they just they're not going to get from these dating get it from these dating as much. best way to meet a much. and the best way to meet a woman is organically is to go up to her approach her in a coffee shop a bookshop. the women shop in a bookshop. the women want that they to go back want that story. they to go back to their girlfriends say , to their girlfriends and say, met a coffee shop . met this guy in a coffee shop. he just approached me . so people he just approached me. so people are bored of those stories are so bored of those stories and. through an album and. i met him through an album . them oh, i met him when i was just a through. i think . just a troll through. i think. well, the worst story i heard tinder, which is one of those apps where you can meet people in your area and. it was a woman who she went to bed with this guy and after after they'd finished she got out of the bed was immediately back on his phone for the next date, right moments after moments after cohus.
3:32 am
moments after moments after coitus . listen, a bit of latin . coitus. listen, a bit of latin. you're welcome. the education wasn't wasted . luis schafer , if wasn't wasted. luis schafer, if it's not too personal a question, are single . i don't question, are single. i don't think think maybe . i'm it think think maybe. i'm it depends who's making the offer because he is making me an offer or i think i might be but i think she's she's she's lovely. but i think she's totally wrong about this. and i think you can't ask a woman opinion about this, these dating are horrific for every they're really bad for men because most men don't get a look in because women hate the way men look they hate the way men look unless the guy is unbelievably good looking and then and they'll go go for the guy - then and they'll go go for the guy . but most guys do get guy. but most guys do get a chance. and the ones who do get a chance. the reason why, like this, like the story is that on tinder where the girl is guys going with some looking for somebody else right after coitus right is because he's is a chad
3:33 am
as we call it at the right yeah i mean he's a chad he's like you he's a top he's a top 10% guy. people louis schaefer don't maybe i've got a chance now in the older man category . the fact the older man category. the fact is the fact is that is that relation ships are kaput. now with that is there's no hope for a relationship since the death of love is this is that divorce is so prevalent are losing their houses like crazy the accusations are unbelievable and so they just figure this know up and getting into a relationship i might as well stay away. well louis i'm, going to disagree with you because i think. you are most eligible bachelor if not britain's okay you've got incredible sense of humour a world class comedian you're of course the star of the hit late night newspaper review show headliners. you're the king of the comedy circuit. you came from caroline's comedy club in york. you are in england . you've
3:34 am
york. you are in england. you've got money, you've got love all downhill . listen, let's get you, downhill. listen, let's get you, let's get you let's get you out there to all the women watching. just take a few things. what is your height ? i mean should a man your height? i mean should a man even give away that kind information? it's not, like, too personal . you don't ask a woman personal. you don't ask a woman her weight, i'm sure. aren't you 7 her weight, i'm sure. aren't you ? you're a bit of a short on time. i, you know, you ask because. no, no, no, no, no, no, no . that's one inch above normal no. that's one inch above normal . all right, well, look, you're less six foot, but you're stocky . what are your hobbies? no i am not. i'm not stocky . . what are your hobbies? no i am not. i'm not stocky. i'm . what are your hobbies? no i am not. i'm not stocky . i'm not not. i'm not stocky. i'm not stocky. i weigh 81.3 kilograms. i think this is horrible what is your what is your weight ? are your what is your weight? are youn your what is your weight? are your. i'm not stalking . what is your. i'm not stalking. what is your. i'm not stalking. what is your weight? what are you saying? what do you know? what is 81.3 kilograms? i'm 81.93 kilograms. that's about 11 and a half stone . okay. and what is half stone. okay. and what is your star sign for star sign here ? well, i'm flexible on that here? well, i'm flexible on that it depends on what the girl is looking for . what is your goal?
3:35 am
looking for. what is your goal? do you have party trick? can you do anything with , your body or do anything with, your body or your mind ? i think my party your mind? i think my party trick is at my age i'm still alive kicking. and i think that that's a that's a good thing. i do have i don't want to say that i've got girlfriend because it will it will hurt my odds for because i challenge challenge the narrative that love is dead. i challenge the narrative that you be blissfully happy with the. mrs. schaefer last question . hobbies any hobbies? basically and worry. i'm a new york jew. . hobbies any hobbies? basically and worry. i'm a new york jew . i and worry. i'm a new york jew. i mean, i just if you like that kind, you like me. i'm very i'm very new york . notice you're at very new york. notice you're at home. it says louis schaefer. behind you , how many parts the behind you, how many parts the house have got? your name , the house have got? your name, the wall. i need be reminded. i'm not. i'm not. i know. think wall. i need be reminded. i'm not. i'm not. i know . think that not. i'm not. i know. think that i'm an alum in kuala lumpur right now i'm just i just flew from from hobart tasmania . we're from from hobart tasmania. we're on my way to nairobi . okay. so on my way to nairobi. okay. so my home is here. you get the
3:36 am
last. my home is here. you get the last . i think that's louis my home is here. you get the last. i think that's louis is underselling himself . i don't underselling himself. i don't think love is dead . underselling himself. i don't think love is dead. is it ? it's think love is dead. is it? it's not, no. but again if you'd asked me this last year , i would asked me this last year, i would have given you a different answer . but i have given you a different answer. but i am i from my students, i am seeing a big shift and i don't think we're quite there yet . but there is quite there yet. but there is definitely a revival of brilliant . well, you can find brilliant. well, you can find louis on tinder. he's ten days out at big boy 71. there you go. and there's some quite strong images on there , thanks to images on there, thanks to relationships and, dating expert, a noble top comedian and star of headliners louis schaefer. because here we, can't wait to see you in the studio for the panel soon. lots more to come after the break. the sad death of lisa marie presley. her father was, of course, elvis we'll get reaction from the queen of us. showbiz and royal reporting, kinsey schofield . reporting, kinsey schofield. plus, why are william kate and charles now so popular ? think we charles now so popular? think we could probably guess why, but
3:37 am
have the answer. and still to come in our news agenda with my panel. come in our news agenda with my panel . is it morally wrong to panel. is it morally wrong to not tip especially during the cost living crisis. plus we got my take at ten monologue. lots to get through. don't anywhere .
3:38 am
3:39 am
3:40 am
course they do. they know he hasn't got long. listen, lots of stories to get through in a moment, we're going to talk about the extraordinary popularity of the prince and princess of wales and charles. i can't imagine why they're so popular at the moment. can't imagine why they're so popular at the moment . and also popular at the moment. and also rather an interesting story from the white house in relation to americans using a gas stove. but we'll start with the really sad story, kinsey, the death of lisa marie presley, singer , marie presley, singer, entrepreneur, and of course, the daughter of elvis . absolutely daughter of elvis. absolutely rock star in her own right. i've got my tcb shirt on that taking care of business. that was elvis's i. this is devastating. this was our america . this was
3:41 am
this was our america. this was our american royal mark. lisa marie . a royal she did not want marie. a royal she did not want to follow in her follow her father's footsteps. he she didn't want to do the type of music he did. she was very punk rock everything she did. she rock and everything she did. she always talked about how she disliked something. she disliked something. first, she went , but she i went with the crowd, but she i think we're really going to miss her here . the states, it wasn't her here. the states, it wasn't the first cardiac arrest that took her life . it was the second took her life. it was the second cardiac arrest. her family had signed a do not resuscitate form. she was brain dead at the time of her death and her family just said, let's not continue to put her body through this. riley hurt her 33 year old daughter. i've met her before. she's an actress. she's incredible. know that she is going to make her mother proud in mentoring and taking care of her two sisters that are 14 years old. her stepsisters are a huge loss to the states, but at the end of the states, but at the end of the day, mark, it really does bnng the day, mark, it really does bring me some peace to know that she's reunited with not only her father, but her her benjamin,
3:42 am
who took his own life two years ago. and people say she's not been the same since . no. and she been the same since. no. and she was much like her father . you was much like her father. you know, she was all connection to a man who was effectively the greatest singer in the history of music . do you remember too of music. do you remember too long ago you had this incredible guest on your show and i'm so sorry , forgetting her name, but sorry, forgetting her name, but she's an elvis and she discusses in one of her books that have heart problems, this family because of cousins marrying in the past, she was the first person to say this. and that's actually one of the big stories that came of this death could these heart problems, could this heart disease a result of, you know, they're ancestry and genetics ? and i think that that genetics? and i think that that is seriously something that we could discuss. i think that that's a legitimate question to ask because . elvis lost his
3:43 am
ask because. elvis lost his life, so young and his mother lost her life. so and i think that 54 years old is too young for us to lose. lisa marie mark. well, no. and can we talk about how much of an american icon elvis was continues to be? of course, we had the biopic of his life that came out recently which to all and purposes was a box office smash . absolutely and box office smash. absolutely and lisa was so absolutely excited about this film she toured to promote the movie all over the world and they could have easily said we don't want anything to do with this. don't you know, they clearly, truly felt enthusiastic over austin butler's performance and over the way that this movie was made. it's an award winning film. it's going to continue to win awards. but what's so is that you know, we saw her a few days ago at the golden globes crying over austin butler accepting his award for the elvis film . they do say that elvis film. they do say that since lost benjamin , this film
3:44 am
since lost benjamin, this film gave her something to live for and something to be proud of. well, may she rest in peace . she well, may she rest in peace. she was a wonderful artist in, her own right, a very beautiful woman and a loving mother from us. far too soon. that book you mentioned, kinsey was destined to die young by sally a hodel, which i've got to say, i read by way preparation for the interview, and it was a cracking destined to die young, as you say relating to elvis's health issues. so william kate's make their first public appearance since the release of that memoir . let's not try to talk about that couple in in california let's talk will and kate more popular than ever. that's right. they were at the official opening of the royal liverpool university. look at, the crowd that showed up for these two, everybody that actually interacted with them said they were so sweet. prince william taking selfie with some of the staff . of course, we see
3:45 am
staff. of course, we see catherine taking photos with all of the dogs are if there's a baby or a dog you can put your money on the fact that the princess of wales is to like a magnet immediately drawn to all things sweet puppies and babies . but yeah, i think that this is i know that they're probably devastated at home personally but this this silence this is just so dignified and elevate them. they're above the fray . i them. they're above the fray. i think that most people are looking at them, admiring the way that they're handling this situation. a now, let's have a about the biden administration in the us president joe biden with some policy to stop americans using their gas stove. tell me more . right now saying tell me more. right now saying that there is a chemical that comes from gas stove use makes children more likely to have asthma. rhonda santos has stepped in and said there's , no
3:46 am
stepped in and said there's, no way, you're taking our gas stoves away from us. there's an argument , stoves away from us. there's an argument, you stoves away from us. there's an argument , you know, stoves away from us. there's an argument, you know, is this just another way for the government to control us at home? so this is not a very popular direction that biden's taking. is not a very popular direction that biden's taking . mark, if that biden's taking. mark, if i if i were to ask you if you could point to one popular direction biden has taken recently. i think it might take you a second to figure that

points . an uber driver posted points. an uber driver posted emotional video on tik tok after getting an $0.84 tip asking how he was supposed to survive on such small amounts. so he have told the customer to tip . let's told the customer to tip. let's talk about this. peter nice writing there from team. very good.i writing there from team. very good. i approve . but you do good. i approve. but you do wonder, don't you? whether there is a moral obligation to tip , is a moral obligation to tip, particularly in the current cost of living crisis. yeah, well, i've always maintained one of the best things about being british is that tipping culture doesn't really exist over here in america . it is so aggressive in america. it is so aggressive . and it really tells the bank balance that we just recently come back from seattle. there's a restaurant there. the mandatory 35% service charge crazy and the annoying was the service wasn't that great? no. and when you buy a beer , and when you buy a beer, america, you have to put a dollar every round. you put a couple of quick down. i think the answer to that is companies or small businesses, restaurants , whatever they need to pay
3:52 am
their staff a proper wage than passing on that wage to the customer , not the customer's job customer, not the customer's job to pay. the stuff's wages. it's the business owners . and pizza. the business owners. and pizza. there's nothing worse than the obligatory tip. right. the service charge that you have no control over, whether it's good or bad. well, that renders the whole point of tipping pointless. the whole purpose of tipping is that it's a thank you for exemplary service or standard service. you shouldn't be tipping anybody and you shouldn't reward anybody for bad behaviour. and that includes. but well, do you but service. well, david, do you think taxi driver was overreact acting receiving an $0.84 tip? well, obviously he was very, very unhappy about it. but this will surprise you, mark. but a lot of comedians are very tight . i've got a story for you about , tommy cooper, who i work with wonderfully funny, man, as you know . but he was notoriously know. but he was notoriously careful , shall we say, and he careful, shall we say, and he took a taxi. he would always say
3:53 am
took a taxi. he would always say to the driver , have a drink on to the driver, have a drink on me. and give him a tea bag. oh that's brilliant. so you can imagine, can't you? it's brilliant . the driver gets to brilliant. the driver gets to his . it never gets love. who his. it never gets love. who i had in the cab today. tell me, coopen had in the cab today. tell me, cooper, did he give you a tip? yes, he did. oh, there's the tea bag. so. but taking out what peter was saying. yes. i really resent when you . go to a resent when you. go to a restaurant here and you get an obligatory service charge, sometimes 12 and a half% it's too much. you don't want to give 12 and a half % and you don't to 12 and a half% and you don't to be told what your tip is. so i do tip and but i don't like it. they say they put that you know it's an automatic 12 and a half % too much. i think 10% is enough. it's also because we tip waiters and waitresses, which is enough, but we don't tip staff in this country. enough, but we don't tip staff in this country . we don't tip in this country. we don't tip cleaners , hotels. so it's not cleaners, hotels. so it's not a level playing field , is it? it's level playing field, is it? it's very difficult to know who tip. i don't think we tip taxi
3:54 am
drivers as much as we did. i remember in the past giving drivers, you know a tip more nowadays. sometimes you know, i have a cab or something and i don't actually tip them. i become like partly because because maybe the bill was quite high already. because maybe the bill was quite high already . yeah, probably. high already. yeah, probably. and probably because i'm a tight i'll get. okay not even a. did he david hamilton, what do you think about this lisa. because in some ways it's a reflection of personality as to who tips and who doesn't? well, i think i mean the driver that made video was american . there's a very big was american. there's a very big difference pay in america for being a waiter or a waitress or a delivery . yeah, we have your a delivery. yeah, we have your minimum wage set in place over. so if you look at the english or what a tip is, is a discussion tip, isn't it? so it's like if you're doing a good job, then we're going to tip you. and i agree with both of these gentlemen that had said, you know, i think if you gentlemen like you gentleman selfridge
3:55 am
gentleman a tip from later she obviously doesn't us . but no obviously doesn't us. but no i think should be down to you. i was actually in america and was chased down the street one time. we left a amount with a tip and that was like, was there something wrong with my service? i was like? well, no, i mean it was just you did your job. i'm not here to pay you to do your job. but in america, you know, i think it really does fall on the customers to pay these staff or the delivery drivers because they're actual wage is very poon they're actual wage is very poor. so it should be down the companies to increase that . companies to increase that. although you should tip the waiter and not the establishment. i think the person who is actually , you person who is actually, you know, serving you. yeah. is the person who should get all the places they make split tips now so you can't even it straight to i tell you who who else should be tipped is the talking heads on panel shows shall we have a
3:56 am
whip round. yeah, they should be tipped . i whip round. yeah, they should be tipped. i think so. i think we'll keep it at 5% because gb views is a start up. we're on a budget of listen. a lot more to come from my woefully underpaid panel come from my woefully underpaid panel. we've got lots to get through the papers at 20. that's 10 minutes earlier than everyone else . and next up in my at ten, else. and next up in my at ten, my reaction to the news . noel my reaction to the news. noel gallagher is getting divorced . i gallagher is getting divorced. i think that cloud has a silver. find out why shortly . plus your find out why shortly. plus your emails mark at gb news dot uk lots to get through. don't go anywhere .

this prenups. and that's what i'm saying about the work i'm afraid to not worth the paper the well at all you know i believe a lot a lot of money. £60 million. she's going to take them yeah, but you know them to the. yeah, but you know what it is that 20 years with the girl and they kids it would be ultimately can't sit be ultimately you can't sit there say after years and there and say after 20 years and kids with this woman that she deserves nothing . well no she deserves nothing. well no she could have something. no right. okay. chance is all okay. but still, chance is all she's raising the kids she's still raising the kids when split so you can't when they split so you can't thing the kids as well. so when they they going to they so they they're going to have custody . well see 50 have joint custody. well see 50 that's thing he won't get that's the thing he won't get i don't know i'm a fan noel's but if i know noel the only thing raising is a pint of stella artois at his local boozer. lisa, why do you think the marriage is ended? i really. you know, my heart goes out. them i she's a very beautiful, accomplished lady. i him to be a music a music god a great,

next welcome to mark dolan tonight as . always on a saturday and early look at tomorrow's papers. 10 minutes before everyone else at exactly 1020. and let's have a look at what we've got. we should start with the sunday telegraph, hot off the press of a mess. ghana. what? our mess. ghana. we've got to starmer. i will slash nonsense bureaucracy in the nhs . sir keir starmer, in the nhs. sir keir starmer, the labour leader , vowed to the labour leader, vowed to slash mind boggling nhs bureaucracy as he said the
4:20 am
service must reform or die. sounds like one of my monologues. labour leader cautioned that well , reverence cautioned that well, reverence for the health service has supplanted reality , adding that supplanted reality, adding that it must not seen as off limits for criticism . also, school for criticism. also, school strikes put vulnerable pupils at risk . striking teachers will risk. striking teachers will vulnerable kids at. the children's commissioner warned, as she said. schools not be allowed to close again . also, allowed to close again. also, girl seven critically ill after church shooting. this is the most awful . a seven year old most awful. a seven year old girl was left critically ill in after a gunman opened on a funeral mass near one of london's busiest train stations in. we've got the independent as well. uk tehran with sanctions after execution of british iranian a shocking story which you'll have heard coverage of in our bulletins of bethany elsey.
4:21 am
johnson for pm. plot splits tories . a bitter split has tories. a bitter split has emerged among conservative plotters over how best to restore johnson as leader of the party. a move to empower the party's grass roots in order to pave the way for the former prime minister returned to return, has been dismissed by a rival camp of allies. but supporters hit back as they predicted he would . the predicted he would. the conservative harold wilson. he will serve two distinct terms . will serve two distinct terms. say backers. well, let's reaction now from one of my favourite journalists in the country. he writes for the spectator. he writes full the telegraph on mail. he's got more gigs than i have. it's ross clark. hi, ross . good evening . clark. hi, ross. good evening. hi, ross. thank you for giving up a chunk of your saturday to look at tomorrow's papers . very look at tomorrow's papers. very interesting tone set . the leader interesting tone set. the leader of the opposition , keir starmer. of the opposition, keir starmer. i slash nonsense bureaucracy c
4:22 am
in the nhs . he appears willing in the nhs. he appears willing to criticise the sacred cow that is our health. yes. isn't this remarkable? because most elections labour are just happy to sit back and say, isn't the nhs wonderful, ireland? aren't the tories evil for wanting to privatise it? sort of repeating the age old that the tories are going to privatise the nhs ? but going to privatise the nhs? but keir starmer , he's so broken keir starmer, he's so broken away from that and i mean he's written the piece in the sunday telegraph, a comment piece essentially saying look, it's, let's be honest , it's a long, let's be honest, it's a long, long time since the nhs could really claim to be the envy of the world and it reform and he specifically says you know it's money is not the only problem it sort of needs some bureaucracy dismantling, as you say. and he's got two sort of big ideas it's really he has some he has some rather scathing the role of gp's as the gatekeepers to the
4:23 am
nhs and as we it's been very, very difficult for people to get some timely consultations with their gp ever since covid and what keir starmer is saying is say, well , you know, why should say, well, you know, why should gp's act sole gatekeepers to the nhs? i mean if you've got a problem with your foot line, can't approach a foot specialist directly if you've got a pain in your lower back , why can't you your lower back, why can't you contact back specialist directly ? and he's also saying wants to dismantle the gp system whereby ever since the nhs was founded in 1948, gp's have been private contractors mean they've just sent gp self and that part of the nhs is essentially being private , private all alone and private, private all alone and what keir starmer is saying is
4:24 am
saying all the, you know, the burden of gp is running practises it's dissuading young doctors from wanting to go into gp's that side of the nhs. doctors from wanting to go into gp's that side of the nhs . well gp's that side of the nhs. well let's turn them all into employees. i wanted to do this overnight, he says . you know, overnight, he says. you know, overnight, he says. you know, over a period of years as gp contracts come up for renewal, we'll switch people over. and so the gp a role . employees of the the gp a role. employees of the nhs , i'm sure that will go down nhs, i'm sure that will go down entirely well with all of them because course, although there is a lot of them of faffing around with bureaucracy, if you're a gp partner, there's also an opportunity to make more money and so particularly rural practises which have the self that they have overseas in the pharmacy of it all, you know is far greater the opportunities for making money than if they were solely employees of the
4:25 am
nhs. but yes, it's true, you know labour i think they, you know, they can pretty serious attempt now to be the next government they know they've got to the ideas on table and i'm keir starmer's just that. or indeed so he's noticeably more patriotic he talks about much he loves the country he does into in front of the union flag, which used to be considered a cancer double offence. if you're a labour he's been talking up brexit as well. his latest slogan is take back control, which is a brexit term . he's which is a brexit term. he's talking tough on the nhs , to be talking tough on the nhs, to be blunt. is he to sound more right wing in order to attract voters 7 wing in order to attract voters ? well, you know, he realises if you're going to win an election, you've got to you've got to set up you've got to you've got to set up your camp on the opposition's ground . and that's what he's ground. and that's what he's trying to do . and i think a lot trying to do. and i think a lot of the nhs also driven by wes
4:26 am
streeting the shadow health secretary and he's , you know, secretary and he's, you know, one of labour's rising stars , one of labour's rising stars, but he's also a cancer. and he's suffered from cancer and a lot of his ideas seem to come from his personal experience of having to wait weeks and weeks to get scans done and so on and you know he's talking very passionately from from that and you know, is that nick is really someone in the labor party too to watch and certainly , you know to watch and certainly, you know keir starmer was streeting and politicians that they do not frighten tory voters in the way that jeremy corbyn and john mcdonnell all and so on did and yes you know set up your campaign opposition's territory and that's how of course tony blair will remember tony blair. he was prime minister. he, you know, had a go at reforming nhs
4:27 am
and remember so you know i've got the skull on my back i'm trying to it and he said well at the end of it is time he said well the only i regret is not going further in reforming pubuc going further in reforming public service. so i'm keir starmer's might taking a taking a note from tony blair on the although briefly if you can ross i just wonder whether he really is tony blair 2.0. this guy flip flops doesn't he he campaigned for jeremy corbyn to become prime minister he's got this terrible 1970s idea of a state energy company investing all borrowed billions on flaky renewables. he's irredeemably woke . think he's more corbyn woke. think he's more corbyn than blair? and do you really buy this tough talk when it comes to the nhs? if he gets number 10, is he really to stand up to the medical unions who are, after all, his constituency? this is the thing is standing up to the unions is not something labour really does
4:28 am
they all of course all labour's paymasters and as tony blair out you know you try and stand up to the unions and they fight back they or they can withdraw their money from the labour party coffers and if the unions withdraw their money there's not all that much left. be honest but i mean you know you're right i'm keir starmer is not tony blair and tony blair was you know he's a soul was that of you know he's a soul was that of you know a lot of people said know this guy is a tory really is a tory and labour clothes was a keir starmer is more of a labour man really he's not such a good pubuc man really he's not such a good public performer in scott sort of unfortunate sort of rather tedious whining, nasal voice, which sends a few people up the wall. he's not he's not somebody who's got the sort reach on policy. i that tony blair had as well but you know you look at the polls and he's in a very
4:29 am
very strong position if he can sort of hold on when over those centre ground to revoke you know, he's going to form the next government with a pretty good majority. come and see us again soon, ross. ross clarke, the brilliant there he gave an overview of the sunday telegraph in independent. well, next up, i've the sunday express, the observer , the mirror, the star observer, the mirror, the star and the sunday times. and there's some hot , let me tell there's some hot, let me tell you.see there's some hot, let me tell you. see you shortly shortly .

are your front pages . hmm let's are your front pages. hmm let's get reaction now from good friends of mine. my panel tonight , we friends of mine. my panel tonight, we have david hamilton , we have lisa mason , and we , we have lisa mason, and we have peter lloyd . so let's have have peter lloyd. so let's have a look at some of those big stories. and peter, if i could start with you. a lot of boris stories floating . johnson had stories floating. johnson had credit facility worth almost a million whilst in the. whilst street the independent johnson for pm campaign splitting the tories this man won't go away. well he's like malaria no. yeah or . herpes. well he's like malaria no. yeah or. herpes. it's. i've never heard by the way. but. well, the thing is you have fun getting herpes. oh boris this is really interesting because if you look at these two if these two front pages. yeah they are actually linked. pages. yeah they are actually unked.so pages. yeah they are actually linked. so there are murmurs of course that boris is going to try and make a back into number 10 and resume his role as prime minister. and here we have press, which let's face it, is
4:37 am
infiltrated with activists , infiltrated with activists, journalists trying to scupper his chances . they even start. his chances. they even start. i mean, nina , we could have a mean, nina, we could have a whole debate on whether boris should back as pm, but this is a really clear example of them planting seeds , getting in with planting seeds, getting in with kind of press attacks to undermine any return to number 10. yeah i just wanted a pizza weather . the tories 10. yeah i just wanted a pizza weather. the tories or some tories . boris derangement tories. boris derangement syndrome . they won't let it go. syndrome. they won't let it go. he's a godlike figure. he did do some great things. he had that victory in 2019. i thought he did country a favour by keeping jeremy corbyn out of number 10. absolutely he ended all brexit. hell and some consider him to have been quite decisive in relation to the covid 19 vaccine rollout . ukraine, of course . but rollout. ukraine, of course. but this is a guy who limped from self—inflicted political crisis to another. and you wonder if he came back, there'd be more of. these stories like this line of credit in the sunday times.
4:38 am
yeah, unfortunately i think it would be futile if you try to come back, i think the opposition to him through all of the institutions in britain is so would destroy so great that would just destroy his chances before they even started and. that's really sad because if the british people would elect him and wanted to be prime minister again , then that prime minister again, then that should be the case. but i think that the institutions in place would even allow that. so many of love, boris, and of my viewers love, boris, and they him back. mean, they want him back. i mean, i personal, i think he was underrated i think he had underrated and i think he had a very time, a number very difficult time, a number 10, know, he was only there 10, you know, he was only there for a few weeks. then we had covid and everything else. it was a great time be prime was not a great time to be prime minister britain be minister britain let's be honest, he was underrated honest, i do. he was underrated and you you know, and i think when you you know, when conservative politician, when a conservative politician, it's difficult to navigate the press at the best of times but with boris a of people seem to have a very particular dislike. well they do that's it he's a marmite figure the ultimate example david the narrative around boris's return would presume that sunak is doing a
4:39 am
bad job and i'm not sure the case. no, i think he's doing quite a good job. i mean, quietly , he inherited a very, quietly, he inherited a very, very difficult and it's a bit like when john major came in after margaret , she was a very after margaret, she was a very positive , very strong positive, very strong personality , which worked for personality, which worked for a while. then in the end people got fed up with her a bit like boris. and then came. mild mannered john major. and i think this is much the same. i think where boris is concerned there's more chance of oasis making a deal. more chance of oasis making a deal . right. yeah. well that's deal. right. yeah. well that's probably the mic drop of the night actually that line i mean. do you think boris even wants he might lose his seat at the next. it's hard to know what he wants, isn't it really think his seat isn't it really think his seat is by? no safe, is it. i think they have said that they might try and find a safe seat, but i don't know. he can make an awful of money outside of politics now
4:40 am
, if people are going to pay theresa may as much money as they're paying her to make speeches. they're paying her to make speeches . what boris, can you speeches. what boris, can you know. yeah. so i don't know. i mean, i can't read his mind , mean, i can't read his mind, know what he wants to hear, but i of feel there's no going back. and i think to change tack. now i think we've got to stick with the regime. well, it's my views that shares in rishi sunak are too low, but i'm not sure everyone watching agrees time will tell he's i think got to it i think no matter who's doing it and i'm sorry to say i think the tories have had it they've had a long run and i think it's time for. well we'll be discussing that on tomorrow's show because tomorrow night's as tomorrow night's big is as follows do the tories need a break from power. that's not my view but the view of former tory health minister, former chancellor kenneth clarke will debate that tomorrow night in big question. but how about this story in the sunday express ? story in the sunday express? lisa, sorry to give you such an awful . sex assault during riots awful. sex assault during riots
4:41 am
at migrant centre. we've got to get on top of this problem, haven't we? does that surprise me ? no, it really doesn't . i me? no, it really doesn't. i think that this is something that happens a lot more than, you know , like to admit. yeah. you know, like to admit. yeah. on fortunately you're going to have these stories come out and i don't think is ever going to be stopped it's just people love to take advantage of people that are in worse situation than them andifs are in worse situation than them and it's a control thing and power all and i think. yeah it's a true shocker. absolutely tragic based upon those allegations and of course, a as well . how about how this story well. how about how this story from the sunday telegraph i'll stay with you, lisa, if i can. you've got a child. you how many children you got to you got two kids. what ages are they? i have a nearly 18 year old and nearly six year old. six year old. right. so that six year old wants to stay at school? yeah. i
4:42 am
assume the six year old was impacted by school closures dunng impacted by school closures during the pandemic? well, no , during the pandemic? well, no, was she hadn't started at that time action, but that was lucky. and she her she'd and if she had her way, she'd probably to stay at home probably want to stay at home with me all the time because she it's a nightmare waking up in the if put it to bed the morning. if i put it to bed at seven or it's a bed at at seven or if it's a bed at nine, she struggles in the nine, she still struggles in the morning. only six, but is morning. she's only six, but is told and has the same trouble with me. oh yeah. bet there's no morning glory round to our house. me tell . but lisa, we're house. me tell. but lisa, we're glad that your your youngest daughter avoided an interrupted education. yeah but we don't want it to start now, do we. school strikes put vulnerable pupils at risk. that's in the sunday telegraph . and of course, sunday telegraph. and of course, this ties in with the story on the front page of the sunday times . teachers vote to strike times. teachers vote to strike next month . do you know what? next month. do you know what? i work in schools and honestly, i always sit there and say i felt i want to just honk. some of the teachers sometimes it's so demanding i do after school
4:43 am
clubs and sometimes i can come out of an hour session and i'm like, oh my god, like your brain is all frazzled because it's so difficult. and i would timidly, i believe there's so many we there's a lot of lazy parents and a lot of parents send their kids to school because they don't have to do the work. yes. and a lot of teachers are not just teachers. they are teaching these kids to go to the bathroom properly, to tie the shoes and to read , not just read and write to read, not just read and write and do maths. and it's a stressful job and sometimes feed them as well . it's not school. them as well. it's not school. they haven't had breakfast and there are a lot of kids in school that their main meal will be that main meal that comes at school. a lot of kids are especially in this with how things are now and the living crisis . the food things are now and the living crisis. the food is so things are now and the living crisis . the food is so expensive crisis. the food is so expensive and like i said, there were so many that go into schools that
4:44 am
is their main meal. so if they not going in schools, they're not going in schools, they're not eating that and a lot of these kids i've i've taught children , if i'm in a in a children, if i'm in a in a session them and they're absolutely sweating i'm like, are you okay? they like my house is so cold because they can't afford to put their heating on so a lot of the time schools is a safe environment. how it's a lot work for these teachers and as much as it is bad to be going on to strike, i can understand why would be because it is such a job and it is very difficult. people think, oh, well, they get six weeks off in the summer holidays. a lot of these teachers do not six weeks off. they're still working they're still doing session plans. they go in weeks before the school opens and it is non—stop pizza. what do you think? i think they're going the wrong way about do sympathise. yeah, about it. i do sympathise. yeah, but instead striking and but instead of striking and harming education right after covid loads of children would negatively that especially
4:45 am
really young children . yep they really young children. yep they should be demanding that schools stop being overspill centres for social care . yeah strip it right social care. yeah strip it right back. keep schools to education, not feeding clothing , mental not feeding clothing, mental health care . none of that health care. none of that teachers should they shouldn't be social workers. that's needs to change. but there needs to be more people in the schools and there needs be more jobs available because . these available because. these teachers all looked at, you know, they are mentors to . these know, they are mentors to. these kids, they are more than just a and they need support with that. but know what? those but you know what? those children got parents, guess children got parents, i guess i agree with at least one parent. and i think a lot of this is parents need to step

welcome back to mark dolan tonight and have a look at the sunday fascinating front page story . and yes, it's about the story. and yes, it's about the royal family. the headline wins a peace talk plan ahead of coronation wins a peace plan ahead of coronation. inside does discuss bringing warring brothers , but insist both must brothers, but insist both must be flexible david hamilton . be flexible david hamilton. we've deliberately stayed off prince for the last 3 hours because i think the public had enough of this story. yes but you do have something valuable to add. well, i don't know about that, but i think this story, this a good if it this is a very good if it happens. yeah but i just had a
4:50 am
thought about harry and meghan and i that in their relationship there is a winner and, there is a loser, and this is a problem. the winner is meghan, who they first met was , a little known first met was, a little known actress and is now arguably the best known woman in the world she's a multi—millionaire and she's back living in her country and the loser is harry who has his family, his royal, his military connections and his friends and is living in another . so this i see is the problem one one is a winner and the other one is a loser. but the thing about harry is he has gained a woman that he and two beautiful children and therapist . but sadly it hasn't made him happy. . but sadly it hasn't made him happy . and if you were in that happy. and if you were in that situation , i mean, any of us , situation, i mean, any of us, you've just got married, not long, not long been married. you
4:51 am
had to beautiful children. you were in the californian sunshine. what you want to do, chill out , have a great time. chill out, have a great time. but he's in always in litigation. yeah always, always in a fight you know, who wants to live that life is too short so you know, lighten up and enjoy life but hurt people people. and he's clearly hurt this man because so many it's so much trauma that he he you probably like you said earlier on the therapist probably not doing a great job, but, you know, hurt people hurt people. i think he's just crying out for something that he's not finding . but obviously, my point is, i think that the situation is fine , suit her, but it's not for him. granted, in the long run, you know, i don't think it's it may not work out what it's going to physically down at some point, isn't it? everyone's going to get tired that this relationship has got coercive control in great capital on
4:52 am
flushing. lots of coercive control . i mean, it's textbook . control. i mean, it's textbook. she's isolated him from her, from his family. she's isolated him from his military connections and is, you know, is it the royal duties? and he's now warring with his relatives who he was close with its entire life, know why why all why his very, very question is he let it happen. and also , you look at happen. and also, you look at her relationships with her family. she only on with her mother. she has broken relationships with every relative apart from her mother. correct. so is a common thread here with the isolation and very narcissistic . it here with the isolation and very narcissistic. it is very glamorous. so i do david is asked the question of the why did he let it happen? why has he let it happen? sometimes people got good. you know, we've got some goodies. can i be please? you know what is hypnotised by a vagina ? that's what i'm saying.
4:53 am
vagina? that's what i'm saying. well good hpv . well, that was well good hpv. well, that was the virus. he is hypnotised. she's got some good, good . when she's got some good, good. when you said frank, you kept to your word, i think she's just so starstruck by her ability and her beauty and she is very beautiful , but he has just lost beautiful, but he has just lost all sense of reality and he has allowed himself. he is given her everything, all power over in his life. yeah. which just so dangerous. because what happens is people manipulate that, they abuse it. does he wake up one morning and just think what the have i done? is that is that what's going to happen? spell is ballin what happens to coercive control. she will eventually leave him . yeah. they'll get leave him. yeah. they'll get divorced and then i predict what will happen he then come back will happen is he then come back to country his tail. to this country with his tail. his legs will be a big, you know , everybody will. but won't he miss him? she will beat the clock and she will be. but she would have denied access to the vigil in usa played.
4:54 am
would have denied access to the vigil in usa played . downstage, vigil in usa played. downstage, they start making me let me just offer a note of defence to meghan markle because this is a young woman who fell in love with a prince. she's been through a lot certainly as a serving royal. many would argue that she loves her husband and that she loves her husband and that she loves her husband and that she wants only the best for him. so look, everyone's entitled to their opinion that's the nature of the show. let's move on to a slightly story and this is a woman who was jailed this is a woman who was jailed this week for contacting her ex, his dog, the 38 year old, broke a non—verbal station order after messaging facebook account set up in the dog's name . apparently up in the dog's name. apparently this was going too far, but it begs the question it okay to stay in touch with your ex, his family, with your ex friends, and even your ex, his pets peter? no, it's weird . the best peter? no, it's weird. the best thing to do is to be civil and keep it friendly , but only civil
4:55 am
keep it friendly, but only civil going. either way is wrong. you don't want to be too friendly with them. you want to be hanging outwith. that's odd. you don't want to be warring them because that's just draw me. don't need keep it simple. the way to do i wonder the best way to do it. i wonder about that. because lisa about that. because what lisa when relationship is that when a relationship ends is that you might have grown close your mother law your father in mother in law or, your father in law now you're never allowed law and now you're never allowed to again. well my to speak to them again. well my first question is, makes first question is, who makes facebook account dog? facebook account for their dog? i that's just wink i mean, that's that's just wink , brianna. i'm no dog person , so , brianna. i'm no dog person, so i can't really see much time . i i can't really see much time. i think it's very difficult situation because i mean, obviously my ex i have a child with them so i still speak the family because it's my child and the like you i'm told they do they love they do love . but yeah they love they do love. but yeah . so i mean, sometimes it's kind of hard because when you to move on it can very difficult . of hard because when you to move on it can very difficult. i'm at the point now obviously where if i was a single person still then
4:56 am
i was a single person still then i could quite happily just know go and visit and i but i'm also very aware now that i'm in a relationship that i can't do that and i wouldn't want to put my partner through that. well what was briefly the pre fleabag seconds, but what do you think. oh i was going to say was if she got touch with the dog , did got in touch with the dog, did she it on the dog and bone? she do it on the dog and bone? she most certainly did. you god, we ended on a classic one line. did he, david hamilton broadcasting legend. thank to lisa mason and to peter lloyd as well . i lisa mason and to peter lloyd as well. i loved lisa mason and to peter lloyd as well . i loved having that well. i loved having that company love , having your company love, having your company love, having your company as well. it's been busy 3 hours. the people's hour . if 3 hours. the people's hour. if you'd like to be a star on the people's hour, drop me a line mark@gbnews.uk i'm back tomorrow at nine. join headliners is.
