anna sewell obe. but first, before we get into all of that, let's get the 6:00 news. >> michelle. thank you. the top stories. well, just two days away from labour's first budget in almost 15 years, the prime minister set the stage, insisting britain must embrace the harsh light of fiscal reality. in a speech , he reality. in a speech, he outlined £240 million to boost jobs and public services aimed at avoiding what he called devastating austerity. however, the prime minister warned that tax hikes are inevitable, calling it fiction to cut taxes and still fund services. he also revealed a new £3 cap on bus fares set to replace the previous £2 cap, as the conservatives accuse him of leading a government of broken promises. deputy leader of the liberal democrats daisy cooper says the burden of the budget shouldn't fall on struggling families. >> well, of course the conservatives have left the economy in a terrible mess and the labour party have got to make some very difficult decisions. but we liberal

democrats are very clear that the burden of this budget should not fall on small businesses and struggling families. the burden of this budget should be borne by the big corporations who can afford to pay a little bit more to get our public services back on their feet. >> sir lindsay hoyle has accused chancellor rachel reeves of acting with supreme discourtesy towards mps, given her, quote, premature disclosure of budget details. the commons speaker also questioned whether mps would need to bother attending the house to hear mrs. reeves deliver her budget on wednesday, saying we all have heard it already. >> all members may be wondering how they will get a seat on wednesday. it will be quite honest the way it's going, you won't need to. we'll have all the verdict in here. it's not acceptable. i don't want it to continue and i want to treat this house with the respect it deserves. i am not by this side or that side. it is totally unacceptable to go around the world telling everybody, rather than these members, they were elected by their constituents of this country, and they deserve to be treated better. whatever .

to be treated better. whatever. >> meanwhile, footage of a labour mp punching a man in the street threatens to derail sir keir starmer's focus on the budget. mike amesbury was stripped of the labour whip following the release of cctv footage, appearing to show him repeatedly hitting a man to the ground. the clip, described as very graphic by cabinet minister pat mcfadden, is now under police investigation. amesbury claims he felt threatened after a night out and reported the altercation himself to cheshire police. shadow health secretary victoria atkins gave us her thoughts this morning. >> he's a real attack mp in the chamber. you know , he's up on chamber. you know, he's up on his feet supporting ministers trying to attack the opposition. so i do think the labour party is going to feel his absence in more ways than one. this week. >> in other news, sir keir starmer has welcomed the lebanese prime minister, najib mikati, to downing street for a bilateral meeting. the pair shook hands outside number 10, where they're expected to discuss the ongoing conflict in the middle east. the prime

removing it. a who made thousands of pounds by creating child abuse images using ai and real pictures of children, has been jailed for 18 years in a landmark case. hugh nelson used a 3d character generator to turn ordinary non—explicit pictures of children into child abuse images before selling them on an internet forum used by artists. people who knew the children in the real world would send the 27 year old images of them over an 18 month period. nelson admits he made around £5,000 from selling these images. the crown prosecution service says the case marks a significant step in revealing the alarming intersection of ai and real life abuse and sport. now, manchester united manager erik ten hag has been sacked after a string of bad results. the 54 year old dutchman was informed this morning after two and a half years in charge, the team supped years in charge, the team slipped to 14th in the premier league table following their fourth league defeat of the season by west ham yesterday. ruud van nistelrooy, the former
