sacrifices made by generations past in a historic gesture, the prime minister has travelled to paris today to commemorate our wartime alliance with france , wartime alliance with france, the first british leader to do so since winston churchill did the same in 1944. after attending the annual remembrance sunday service at the cenotaph in london yesterday and earlier today, i spoke with a remarkable world war ii veteran celebrating his 100th birthday. i'll be sharing his reflections on service, sacrifice and the and the meaning of remembrance in a few moments time. john king 100. today. in fact, he stood in the westminster arms, now opposite. he got a standing ovation when he walked in, and god bless him, 100 years young he had a shot of rum. always a sailor . 100 years young he had a shot of rum. always a sailor. but nigel farage has accused the establishment of preventing him from laying a wreath at the cenotaph because of rules restricting wreath laying only to party leaders who have more than six mps. whilst reform uk, of course has five. now is that

a snub that keeps the big parties in charge or is it just a case of keeping to the rules ? a case of keeping to the rules? so tonight i am asking you should nigel farage have been allowed to lay a wreath at the cenotaph? let me know by tweeting hashtag farage on gb news or email farage @gbnews. .uk . well, let's introduce my .uk. well, let's introduce my panel now and i'm joined by the former spokesman for reform uk, gawain towler, and the gb news senior political commentator nigel nelson. gentlemen, welcome very much to the show . may we very much to the show. may we start with that clip of john king, the world war ii veteran who turned 100 today. we had him in the studio earlier on an astonishing moment. absolutely beautiful . let's have a little beautiful. let's have a little listen to john king. >> well, the first thing we've done, we went up to ancona and we fired torpedoes into the harbour, and it wasn't very long before they got out of range. so we scarpered out there and coming back down the coast, we

see this steam train. we could see this steam train. we could see the fire off of it. so we opened up on it and then all of a sudden it was missing and we assumed that it had gone into a tunnel. well, it had, because when it came out, the other end, we got a direct hit on it. >> it was genuinely, genuinely moving story. but of course, a lot of fun was thrown in there too. and also just to explain there in the studio, those are there in the studio, those are the two individuals, astonishing people themselves. matthew hellyer, he's a former sas operative , served in three operative, served in three decades of conflict, been in over 400 operations for queen and king and country, and also johnny gallagher, who runs a taxi charity for veterans raised over a quarter of £1 million for them to help people like john king get to the cenotaph because of course, they're unable to take public transport. let's react to my panel, gawain .

7:09 pm
men, the remembrance has become an industry rather than commemoration to a certain extent it does concern me that it's it has become very, very commercialised. >> but better that than we than we simply forget it or even admonish it. >> i don't think we are in danger of forgetting when again, when i think of going to the service i went when i think of going to the service i
