into tonight. my panels keep me company. i've got zia, yousef , company. i've got zia, yousef, the chairman of reform uk, and luciana berger, the former labour mp. so all of that and more. but first let's get the 6:00 news headlines from . 6:00 news headlines from. >> michelle, thank you. and a very good evening. these are your latest headlines from the gb newsroom . business secretary gb newsroom. business secretary jonathan reynolds said it was a very difficult day for luton after the owner of vauxhall announced plans to shut its van making factory. vauxhall owner stellantis has announced plans to shut the plant, putting more than 1100 jobs at risk. the luton site is expected to close next april. stellantis, which also owns brands including citroen, peugeot and fiat, said it would combine its electric van production at its other uk plant in ellesmere port. stellantis added that it hopes to transfer hundreds of jobs to the other plants. rules imposed to speed up the transition to electric vehicles in the uk partly drove the decision, the company said. a unite spokesman said the proposal that has been

spotted flying near us air force bases in suffolk. the development comes after unidentified drones were previously spotted between wednesday and friday of last week over the same three air bases. a ministry of defence spokesman said we take threats seriously and maintain robust measures at defence sites. we are supporting the us air force response and finally work and pensions secretary liz kendall has announced the job centre will be brought together with england's national careers service to reform a system which she warned feels like you're back in the 80s or 90s. introducing the get britain working white paper, mr kendall told the commons we will create a new jobs and career service , a new jobs and career service, overhauling job centres from a one size fits all service that focuses on administering benefits into a genuine public employment service. official figures show that unemployment rate for young people is at 14.8%, up from 12.1% a year earlier. the plans include a £240 million investment to overhaul the current network of job centres across britain, and

anxious? give me your thoughts on all of that. but look, i couldn't help but notice today that a significant legal case has started in the supreme court today. i think personally, this has got potential to have huge ramifications for women and girls. i do want to bring you up to speed with this one. so we're all across across live to the supreme court, to gb news reporter adam cherry. anyone that's not followed this story, adam, bring us up to speed . adam, bring us up to speed. >> aidan magee. well, well, today we heard from the representatives for women scotland . now their case, their scotland. now their case, their barrister is arguing that sex as a legal term should be defined by immutable biological characteristics. characteristics in other words, the sex you are born as is legally the one you are determined. as for life , are determined. as for life, regardless of whether you go through gender reassignment or obtain a gender recognition certificate. therefore , trans certificate. therefore, trans women would not automatically be allowed to enter protected

spaces like women's spaces as defined or as allowed in the equality act 2010. so i'll just read through some of the statements. statements we heard today in the court. this is from aiden o'neill. he said that our position is your sex, whether you are a man or a woman or a girl or a boy, is determined from conception in utero , even from conception in utero, even before one's birth by one's body. it is an expression of one's bodily reality, he argued. this is a common sense, ordinary understanding of sex, and one that can be easily understood by the public and by non—lawyers. now tomorrow we will hear from representatives for the scottish government. this has been going on for a long time and it stems back from an argument put forward by four women scotland, that it was illegal or it was. yeah, it was illegal to allow trans men to be a part of the 50% public boards, 50% of which were were were to be occupied by women. and if trans men were

allowed onto that board, of course, that meant that in reality, more men , more men were reality, more men, more men were on that board than than women. so we'll hear from them tomorrow. alongside an intervention from amnesty international, who are arguing that trans people deserve protected status just as much as as women as biological women. i spoke earlier today to susan smith, who is a director for women scotland . she was here at women scotland. she was here at the court today and this is what she had to say to me . she had to say to me. >> it's really important for the ongoing protection and preservation of women only spaces and services. our case set out today. some of the issues that could arise if they completely mishmash of definitions of what a woman is or what a man definit
