how already. how many plans and how much change do we actually need in this country? also, i can't help but notice there's been front page news today about gregg wallace, a man accused of telling his female colleagues crass jokes about two decades ago, and even the government have found themselves involved, and we actually losing our minds in this country when it comes to priorities and speaking of priorities, is there anything at all that is off limits when it comes to the pursuit of net zero additives now being fed to cows to stop them? flatulating. would you drink that milk? and rumours about elon musk may be making a donation to reform uk, if that did happen, would you regard that as a good thing or not? and joining me tonight, my panel, the m and m's matt goodwin, the pollster and academic, and matt lazan pollster and academic, and matt lazar, the former labour advisor. but before we get stuck in, let's cross live for the 6:00 news headlines .
6:01 pm
6:00 news headlines. >> michelle. thank you. it's 6:01. i'm cameron walker here in the newsroom. the home secretary, yvette cooper , has secretary, yvette cooper, has claimed the tories rwanda plan did not stop a single boat, claiming the scheme cost £700 million of taxpayers money. she went on to say the deterrence did not result in a single deportation of stop a single boat crossing the channel , boat crossing the channel, branding the whole thing a grotesque waste of money. but shadow home secretary chris philp claims the rwanda plan would have been an effective deterrent if allowed to go ahead. >> the labour government, after it was elected, cancelled. they cancelled that deterrent. they cancelled that deterrent. they cancelled 18 members of a major organised crime group have been convicted for their part in smuggling billions of pounds worth of illegal drugs into the uk. >> the case, which is the biggest ever drugs investigation into the country, also resulted into the country, also resulted in the longest running criminal

trial in british legal history. the convictions in that trial can only now be revealed after the conclusion of a second unked the conclusion of a second linked court case. now, gregg wallace has apologised for any offence that he caused after posting a video saying complaints about his behaviour came from a handful of middle class women of a certain age. downing street has labelled the comments as inappropriate and misogynistic , and the culture misogynistic, and the culture secretary, lisa nandy, has raised the issue with bbc bosses. the corporation is under fire about claims senior management were warned about wallace's alleged behaviour four times. the bbc said it takes any issues that are raised with us seriously and we have robust processes in place to deal with them. meanwhile, gregg wallace's lawyers say it is entirely false that he engages in behaviour of a sexually harassing nature. now, travel disruption could be on the way, with the met office warning icy stretches and some dense freezing fog this week. temperatures could plunge to as low as —eight degrees celsius after a pretty mild weekend,
6:03 pm

6:05 pm
on this programme , don't you? on this programme, don't you? can get in touch with us. join the conversation all the usual ways. email me gb views @gbnews. com go to the website gbnews.com/yoursay. or of course you can tweet or text me lots. i need to talk to you. milk. i never thought i'd hear myself saying that, but i do. i need to talk to you about milk. what's been added to cows in the pursuit of net zero? that's coming up in the second half of the programme. but look, it's been quite a few rocky few months, hasn't for it, keir starmer and his government. and now he's launching what he's calling a plan for change. other people i have to say, are calling this essentially a reset. he's going to look at these kind of five policy areas , these kind of five policy areas, put some targets to these areas. mark goodwin yeah , many people mark goodwin yeah, many people are talking about oh never mind targets. you're hitting things like 20,000 boat crossings since you came in. so maybe you perhaps might want to focus on some of those things. they shout do we need a reset? >> well, i mean, keir starmer
6:06 pm
and labour have only been in office for four months and already they need a reset. you look at the polling yesterday, starmer's leadership ratings are up —32. that's what i call prince andrew territory. but if you look at all of the big issues, small boats still coming, they said they'd take back control economy. we know we're heading into low growth rates because labour's economic plan isn't working. smash the family farmers took fuel duty off pensioners while giving £18 billion to this illegal migration crisis, not to mention freebie gate, not to mention mps quietly slipping out the back door because it turns out they did something dodgy, and starmer saying he was going to return the country to integrity. the point i'm trying to make here, michel, is what on earth were labour doing before they came to power? like, surely they knew they were coming into office. they should have prepared for this. and already four months in, we're talking about a reset because they are fundamentally out of touch with the country. that's what's going on here. >> he's not calling it a reset. he's calling it a plan for change. >> i'd call it a government in crisis. this is a student union government in full blown crisis. that's what's going on. is it matthew laza? >> no. absolutely not. i mean,
6:07 pm
yeah, he's absolutely not calling it a reset. i think what the good thing he's doing is he has these five missions before the election, which is which, frankly, some of us thought were a little bit broad, a little bit vague. and remember what the five missions were. i knew you were going to ask me. so i didn't memorise, but and actually, that's a very can you remember what they are? the highest growth in the g7. >> that's not going well is it? >> that's not going well is it? >> i mean, small boats. >> i mean, small boats. >> that's not going well, nhs. that's not going well. i mean it's a government in crisis. let's be realistic. >> i don't think it's a government in crisis. i think it's a government that's had a very difficult hang on. >> so you can remember one of the five i and this is your team. so i'm not trying. this is not me trying to. >> absolutely. you you've got a serious point, which is that they think that that we all went round with these five missions in our heart as those of us who voted labour, voted labour. the truth of the matter is, if they pass me by, they passed people who take less of an interest in politics. >> but that's the point, isn't it? this is a government that
