my blood. i run the farm it's in my blood. i run the farm because i've got a son who's 21 year old who's passionate about farming. >> we're doing it to produce food that keeps you alive. i mean, i do not know how hard thatis mean, i do not know how hard that is to understand for people in westminster. >> i just want people to listen. i just want the government to hear what we're saying. >> well, those farmers are protesting in cities across the uk this morning as labour continues to stand by their inheritance tax raid, know firsthand that rural areas, farming communities, they do need the investment that we put in the budget into their hospitals, into their schools. >> we needed to make sure that where we did have to take those difficult decisions and raise taxes, we did so in as fair a way as possible. >> this government's commitment to farming and to farmers is absolute. >> well, the farmers aren't convinced, are they? a convoy of tractors is approaching. let us just remind you what keir starmer told the national farmers union conference only
9:31 am
last year. >> every day seems to bring a new existential risk to british farming. losing a farm is not like losing any other business. it can't come back. >> that's why the farmers feel betrayed. the government is also pledging to build four new jails by 2031, as part of the justice secretary's decade long prison capacity strategy. would you welcome criminals on a green belt near you? because that's the plan. and medical misogyny. a new report shows women are suffering in silence as painful conditions are being dismissed by doctors, often men. have you experienced this? and the metropolitan police commissioner, sir mark rowley, fears 2300 police officer jobs could be lost due to a £450 million funding black hole, as ten other police forces warn they're going to have to cut jobs too. what's more important? safety on the streets, on the streets or balance sheets? and
9:32 am
over half of young drivers admit they break the law using their phone behind the wheel. is it time to really get serious and ban mobiles in cars? >> so stay with us this morning until midday. there's going to be a huge amount of action here down in london. that's downing street just behind me. you can see behind those gates. whitehall here will be closed within the next half an hour. and then the tractors will descend on this area. i'm going to be talking to all sorts of people this morning. ollie harrison, familiar face of gb news, one of the farmers who's organised today. he's just arrived. he has with him the wreath. they're going to be putting a wreath on top of a coffin with a union jack flag to symbolise the death of british farming. that is how strongly these farmers feel about it. we're going to be talking to loads of people this morning. don't go anywhere. first, the very latest news with sophia

wenzler. >> andrew and bev. thank you. good morning. these are your headunes good morning. these are your headlines from the gb newsroom. the government will today pledge to build four new prisons within seven years, in a bid to get a grip on overcrowding crisis, £2.3 billion will go towards 14,000 new prison places by 2031, as part of the justice secretary's decade long prison capacity strategy. it comes as overcrowding has recently led to the early release of some prisoners, with justice secretary shabana mahmood blaming the last government for leaving our prisons in crisis. meanwhile, shadow justice secretary robert jenrick told gb news this morning that labour are not dealing with the heart of the problem, despite all the fanfare in labour's announcement today, there is not any money for new prisons. >> the labour party are admitting that there's going to be a massive shortfall in prison
9:34 am
places in the years ahead, and they're not dealing with the heart of this problem. >> hundreds of farmers are descending on westminster with their tractors today, as the government insists its support for the sector is steadfast. last month, over 13,000 people rallied against the changes to inheritance tax. today, farmers are warning the proposed changes could kill british farming. the demonstration is scheduled to coincide with both pmqs and the meeting of mps to discuss the impact of inheritance tax on farmers. but despite the protests, the government says they will not change course on they will not change course on the policy. concerns are growing over the prospect of british jihadists returning from syria, with the uk monitoring the situation. that's according to a home office minister. dame angela eagle, the minister for border security and asylum, says intelligence services are keeping a very, very close eye on the situation on the ground and the uk is in touch with
9:35 am
allies. meanwhile, the daily telegraph reported that concerns jihadists from the uk are being held in prisons in northern syria. could be freed if jails and camps are shut down. it comes as the islamist hayat tahnr comes as the islamist hayat tahrir al—sham militant group that toppled the assad regime in damascus, named the new interim prime minister as mohammed al bashir. yesterday, and a new report has found women are suffering in silence as painful gynaecological conditions are being dismissed by doctors. the report says that medical misogyny means that the nhs fails to prioritise women's health, meaning there is a lack of research, treatment and specialists. it means women are left to suck it up and endure pain for years before getting a diagnosis. and mps are warning it's damaging women's fertility and affecting their ability to get pregnant and have children. those are the latest gb news headlines. more in half an hour for the very latest gb news

9:37 am
the farmland that we all know and love and frankly, rely upon to feed us, don't we? every day. andrew, i don't know about you, but i feel like this is going to be a massive issue for labour. this is not going away. and the farmers are making it very clear that they're not going to roll oven over. >> oven >>i oven >> i think also, beth, the footage we've been we've shown earlier in the programme of starmer addressing the national farmers union last year, where he talked about how you can't afford to lose a farm, even a single farm, because they can't come back. he's going to return to haunt him again and again and again. it's going to feed into the sense of betrayal by farmers. beth, because there was no mention of this inheritance tax rate in the manifesto, no mention of that when he talked to the farmers last year and they feel they were conned. >> yeah, absolutely. i'm joined andrew now, i guess, at home by ollie harrison, a familiar face to gb news and of course, one of the organisers of today, ollie, the organisers of today, ollie, the government were announcing
9:38 am
they're investing £350 million in farmers they announced yesterday. they say that's going to benefit 31,000 of you. are they wrong? >> if you heard of the emperor's new clothes that that is basically income foregone. so thatis basically income foregone. so that is stuff that that we've took land out of production to do environmental stuff, which is great. and they were giving it to us anyway because we signed a contract to produce it and do it for them. it's not new. it's trying to deflect what's really happening today. >> yeah, because keir starmer keeps saying all of the labour politicians, every time we interview them, we are supporting our farmers, we are helping our farmers. they seem to genuinely believe that. >> i think if you tell enough lies, you start to believe them, don't you? they, they just they just need to listen. stop trotting out that party line. they'd have all the money that they wanted to fix that black hole. if every time i'd heard the 22 million black hole, they put a pound in a jar, they'd have 22 billion, wouldn't they? >> well, now you're you're ramping it up today compared to when we were here 3 or 4 weeks ago. >> we organised the one the
