first, here's your headlines and it's tatiana sanchez. >> martin, thank you and good afternoon. we start with some breaking news that a six month old baby girl has died after a crash in a multi—storey car park. sofia kellerman, from leigh in manchester, was injured in a collision in tenby in pembrokeshire on thursday. police confirmed that sofia was initially taken to hospital but died of her injuries the following day. the force said the collision happened on the ground floor of the car park, and a man has been arrested in connection with that incident. he is due to appear in court on the 7th of february. and in some more breaking news this hour, leicestershire fire and rescue service has declared a major incident as widespread flooding hits leicester, leicestershire and rutland. the fire brigade has received more than 200 calls since this morning, with crews finding cars stuck in floodwater and evacuating residents from

flooded homes. around 17 people have been rescued so far, while weather warnings persisted across the country this morning as many commuters suffered travel disruption from severe weather. major roads have been closed and railway lines blocked. manchester airport's runways were closed early this morning because of heavy snow but have since reopened. this comes after most of the uk saw heavy snow or icy rainfall over the weekend, and even reaching the weekend, and even reaching the coldest night of the winter so far at —13.3 degrees. now to our top story today. the prime minister has defended his position as director of public prosecutions, saying child sexual exploitation is utterly sickening and it was something he had tackled head on whilst in that role. the prime minister has also hit back at elon musk over his comments on twitter that claimed safeguarding minister jess phillips is an ministerjess phillips is an evil witch and deserved to be in jail. sir keir starmer went on to accuse opposition politicians of amplifying what the far right

institutional failure. meanwhile, this morning the prime minister pledged to reduce nhs waiting lists, saying we need nhs reform from top to bottom. the prime minister has called for more convenience for patients, and said that no institution is more important to the security of the country than the security of the country than the nhs. now a debate is due to be held this afternoon at around 430 in parliament on the petition calling for a general election. the petition has secured more than 2.5 million signatures after being launched by a west midlands publican. this is the third most popular e—petition since 2010, after easily surpassing the required 100,000 signatures required for a debate to take place. gb news spoke to the petition's founder, michael westwood, about his expectations. >> something i expected us all to be cheerful. i sent it out there in hope that it obviously

when you do anything in life, you hope it goes the best you possibly can. and i think this has probably gone as best it possibly can to be truthful. >> in other news, the man has been charged with assisting former soldier daniel khalife after he escaped from prison. khalife was found guilty of spying for iran after a trial in november last year and admitted to escaping from hmp wandsworth. imran chowdhury, a 25 year old from north—east london, has been charged with one count of assisting an escaped prisoner and will appear at westminster magistrates court tomorrow. and today is justin welby's final day as archbishop of canterbury, as he prepares to step down over failures in handling a church of england abuse scandal. almost two months after announcing his resignation, he'll officially quit the role at midnight tonight. it follows an independent review which concluded that john smith, a barrister and christian camp leader, might have been brought to justice if archbishop welby had reported him to the police
