inquiry into child sex abuse, has said today that people should just get on with implementing the recommendations made in previous inquiries rather than holding another one. >> professor jay's comments come as the prime minister dismissed calls for a national inquiry yesterday, accusing the conservatives of jumping on a bandwagon and amplifying what the far right is saying on child sexual abuse after failing to act for 14 long years. the home secretary, yvette cooper, told the commons yesterday. >> i have long advocated whole life sentences for these grooming gang perpetrators, and i've said that if they're foreign national offenders, get them out of our country, deport them. no ifs, no buts. so they never step foot on this soil of our country again. and the cowardly public officials who did turn a blind eye, they should be prosecuted as well. not a single one has been prosecuted so far. and that is

of the french national front party, has died at the age of 96, according to french media. le pen challenged the french political establishment when he unexpectedly reached the presidential election run off vote in 2002. after leading the national front from 1972 to 2011. he was succeeded as party chief by his daughter, marine le pen. she's turned the party, now branded the national rally, into one of the country's main political forces. a number of nhs trusts in england have declared critical incidents amid exceptionally high demands on emergency departments. one trust said it's seeing high numbers of older patients with respiratory problems, exacerbated by the cold weather. experts said this flu season is the straw that breaks the camel's back when it comes to urgent care. hampshire hospitals nhs foundation trust and university hospitals plymouth nhs trust both declared critical incidents this morning, followed by university hospitals

by a male police officer after she reported her abuse. gb news can exclusively reveal sam, who was targeted by gangs in oldham, reported an attack by a rape gangin reported an attack by a rape gang in 2006. and incredibly, she was aged just 12 at the time. we can now speak with gb news reporter charlie peters, who is in oldham. charlie, it's an astonishing report. it's heartbreaking. it's harrowing. share some of the details with us. us. >> us. >> it's heartbreaking. it's harrowing and it's real. because at the police station behind me in 2006, sam, then 12 years old, walked in there and complained that she had been molested at a nearby graveyard. she complained about a sexual assault. the police officers inside told her to go away and sober up. she had been plied with alcohol when she left this police station, she was accosted by three men. they gang raped her in a car. they

dropped her off on the streets here in oldham, and they gave here in oldham, and they gave her money to get a bus fare home. but another man picked her up. he also raped her. like the previous men, he dropped her off on a street and another man picked her up. and he also raped her. >> days after you were abused by a gang. so many members on one day, what happened to you when you sought support from the police? >> and the police did a referral to saint mary's rape crisis centre, who, after a couple of days, finally managed to fit me in. and from there they did examinations, took photographs of all the bruising and trauma that i had received, and from that i had received, and from that i had received, and from that i received the emergency contraceptive pill. at the time when i was at the appointment, i didn't feel comfortable taking it, so i did request to take it home and just have some time to
