national inquiry. we had a national inquiry. we had a national inquiry, the jay inquiry, the j report, 20 inquiry, the] report, 20 recommendations, not a single one implemented, not a single one implemented, not a single one implemented. >> in other news, three massive wildfires are tearing through the suburbs of los angeles. in california, with more than 1400 firefighters battling the flames. the fires, fuelled by dry weather and strong winds, are pushing dangerously close to homes, forcing tens of thousands of residents to flee. authorities say at this stage, there's no possibility of controlling the fires. the latest pictures show buildings collapsing and smoke billowing over residential areas as people abandon their cars and run for safety. the millions of californians on high alert. the white house has deployed federal resources to help contain the blazes. back in the uk, the mother of 14 year old kelly ann bokassa, who was stabbed to death on a bus in south—east london, has said he was groomed by gangs after running away from

care and living on the streets. his mother, mary, says he was kind, musical and talented at drawing with a love of football. kelly ann was attacked on a double decker bus in woolwich just after 2:30 pm, despite efforts from police, paramedics and the london air ambulance. he died shortly after the attack. detectives are working at pace to find those responsible, but no arrests have yet been made . no arrests have yet been made. and some breaking news to bring to you. uk athletics has been charged with corporate manslaughter and a health and safety at work act offence, following the death of a paralympic athlete. a 77 year old man has also been charged after united arab emirates paralympian abdullah hayati died after a metal cage fell on him while he was training for shot put in london in 2017. and we will bring you more on that story as we get it. now the nhs is urging patients to attend a&e alone as rising flu cases push

emergency departments to breaking point. york and scarborough hospitals are among those asking for public support, while critical incidents have been declared across several trusts, including liverpool, cornwall and birmingham. one patient reportedly waited 50 hours for a ward bed, with frontline staff describing the system as overwhelmed. flu cases in hospitals have surged to 5000 a day, with nhs medical director sir stephen powis warning the pressure is relentless and a new amber warning has been issued for snow for the southwest of england, likely to cause travel delays and stranding some vehicles and passengers. britain is bracing for a deep freeze as temperatures are set to plunge as low as —15 degrees this week. the coldest of the winter so far and potentially the coldest january in 15 years. the met office has issued fresh snow and ice warnings for northern scotland and northern ireland, as well as the southern counties
