>> martin. thank you. it's just gone. 3:00 these are your headlines. sir keir starmer and kemi badenoch clashed at prime minister's questions today, with the conservative leader accusing the conservative leader accusing the prime minister of wrecking the prime minister of wrecking the conservative government's legacy. on education. badenoch slammed the schools bill, calling it an act of vandalism and arguing it will attack excellence and hurt educational outcomes. >> teachers and parents will be horrified at just how bad this bill is. even his own mps may not realise it, but the bill will cut teachers pay it. cuts pay will cut teachers pay it. cuts pay for 20,000 teachers. it is an attack on excellence. it is an attack on excellence. it is an attack on higher standards. it is an attack on aspiration. this bill is the worst of socialism. mr speaker. >> however, starmer defended the bill. he claims it will provide vital protections for children, including new measures to safeguard school attendance. >> we had a young child killed who was taken out of a school by

gbnews.com/alerts. >> welcome to the show! it's time to get to the truth. the police were apparently gagged from releasing vital information about axel rudakubana in the wake of the southport murders. that's what they say. but according to reports, merseyside police had wanted to provide details about the killer's background but were warned not to do so by the crown prosecution service. well, this revelation comes after sir keir starmer admitted that he did withhold information about the terrorist links of axel rudakubana from the public, but denied he was part of a cover up. let's remind ourselves of how events unfolded after the attack. this is crucial to get the chronology and the facts correct. let's get our ducks in a row now. in october 2024, the
3:09 pm
serena kennedy, the chief constable of merseyside police, had this to say. >> at this time, counter—terrorism. >> policing has. >> policing has. >> not declared the events of the 29th. >> of july. >> of july. >> a terrorist. >> a terrorist. >> incident. i recognise. >> incident. i recognise. >> that. these new charges. >> that. these new charges. >> may lead to speculation. >> may lead to speculation. >> the matter. >> the matter. >> for which. >> for which. >> axel rudakubana has been. >> axel rudakubana has been. >> charged under the. >> charged under the. >> terrorism act, does not require. >> motive to be established. >> motive to be established. >> now. correction that was july 2024, the day after actually the triple killing, the day after the triple killing, merseyside police went to the press and said this was not a terrorist attack. now, meanwhile, the deputy prime minister, angela raynen deputy prime minister, angela rayner, said the suggestion that the southport attack was terror related was fake news. >> it's not. >> it's not. >> to stoke up what conspiracy theories are, what you think might have happened or lean into
3:10 pm
what you think. actually, there's a responsibility to say there's a responsibility to say the police are doing a difficult job. local authorities, all of the services that are on the ground, we want to establish facts as soon as possible, and we have a responsibility to hold the community together and say, let's get the facts, and then let's get the facts, and then let's look at what the actual solutions are. >> so the police say it wasn't terrorism. angela rayner doubled down and said, if you say that it's fake news. and the riots that then followed the southport attacks were slammed by sir keir starmer as far right. >> this was a meeting to pull together our response response both to the immediate challenge, which is clearly driven by far right hatred. >> there we go. so in august 2024, we already have established the police said it wasn't terrorism. angela rayner doubled down and keir starmer said if you objected, you were far right. but look how things
3:11 pm
have changed. just yesterday we heard from the labour mp for doven heard from the labour mp for dover, mike tapp in the house of commons, as he called the southport attacker. you got it, a terrorist. >> it's important. >> it's important. >> to note that this attacker is a terrorist. he's been charged under the terrorism act and the biological weapons act. the man is a terrorist. >> but wait, here's the full bingo card. because yesterday the home secretary, yvette coopen the home secretary, yvette cooper, replied to mr tapp and she accepted that axel rudakubana ought to be treated. you've guessed it, as a terrorist. >> because this man has been charged under the terrorism act and has pleaded guilty to a terrorist offence. i can confirm he will be treated as a terrorist offender in prison as well. >> so what a journey we've gone from. this absolutely was not terrorism. and if you say it is,
3:12 pm
then it's fake news to the home secretary confirming the day before the judge passes his ruling tomorrow. actually it's terrorism. clear. okay. let's carry on the conversation in the studio with gb news political editor chris hope. chris, this stinks. it absolutely stinks. like, we have to be absolutely clear about the fact that if the police are today claiming that they were told by the crown prosecution service to go quiet, but the police didn't go quiet on the first day, they said it was not terrorism. the deputy leader of the country doubled down on that. and now we've got a situation where that appears to be changing fast. the full truth will come out in court tomorrow. many, many questions are being asked about the timeline, about we can't put anything out there. it will compromise the case. and yet evidence was put out there in october about the writing about the jihadi manual. chris, a lot of people are asking a lot of
3:13 pm
questions. and guess who didn't ask a question today at prime minister's question time? kemi badenoch. sir keir starmer was on the ropes there for the taking. instead, she randomly went on about an education bill. nobodyin went on about an education bill. nobody in the country is interested in the education bill today. they're interested in the biggest story in britain at the moment. you've got something for us, though, chris. there might be a reason why the conservatives aren't quite so keen to talk about this. and this is astonishing. >> well, let's get before we get to that. what could be a reason? we don't know yet. let's get back to what happened today. today we're expecting kemi badenoch to have a go at keir starmer about the southport attacks, about why the, the facts of the of the terror links didn't emerge until charging in october after the late july attacks. instead of mentioning she she name checked southport and said i'll come to that at a later point and then talked to the pm and grilled him about education policy, which i would argue is a big issue for
3:14 pm
millions of people i know. not how. >> now. >> not today. >> not today. >> the politics of this. >> the politics of this. >> is. >> is. >> the politics of this is martin is why change the subject? in a sense, it helped starmer. starmer has got some difficult questions to answer on southport, and the leader of the opposition chose not to. now they tell me that they want to recognise genuine anger from kemi badenoch and the wider party about what labour is doing to our schools. they're reversing schools freedoms. kevin bacon was in an academy recently, gave an interview there is concerned she. of course we heard, we heard earlier on on on on gb news that that they they couldn't that that they they couldn't that that you know she she felt that she had to you could have an army person hiring someone from p. so i had a text. i got to read that text to you shortly. so that's interesting. in the house yesterday though, another fact emerged which is overlooked. yvette cooper said that the government had briefed the tory party at the same time as the terror links emerged. now the raisi link emerged in august.
3:15 pm
>> in august. >> in august. >> now listen, the al—qaeda manual in october at the same time as that happened, the home office found out and the tories were briefed. now, i've had a text here. >> i'm going to come back to that in a minute because i want to we've got to bring mark white in and get your ducks in a row. i think this this is going to go tonto. let's talk now to our home security editor, mark white. mark, i believe you've got some more developments on the story here in germany. >> yeah, really disturbing developments coming out of southern germany, northwestern bavaria, the city of aschaffenburg, where a two year old boy has been stabbed to death along with a 41 year old man in a park in this city. the suspect, a 21 year old afghan man, is now in police custody. two other people are, we are told, very seriously injured following this incident. that afghan man apparently fled from this park across local railway
3:16 pm
tracks. police managed to arrest this individual and he is being questioned now as yet, the police in bavaria are not giving any indication as to the motive behind this attack, but it comes against a backdrop of multiple attacks now in germany perpetrated by asylum seekers, that some have been declared terrorist attacks, others not. the most recent, of course, was that attack on a christmas market in the city of magdeburg on the 20th of december, in which six people were killed and 200 injured when a saudi former asylum seeker, now a doctor in germany, rammed a vehicle into those people at this christmas market. so some deeply disturbing news coming out of germany of the from the state of bavana germany of the from the state of bavaria in the city of
3:17 pm
scharfenberg, a 28 year old afghan national now arrested after a two year old boy was stabbed to death alongside a 41 year old man and two others critically injured. >> what do you say? what do you say to this mark white? it's just this endless barrage of terror attacks going on in germany. it'sjust terror attacks going on in germany. it's just utterly heartbreaking. and yet mark feels sadly predictable. >> it does. it's utterly horrific, and it's understandable why people right across europe, in particular countries like germany and france, here in the uk, of course, as well, are seeing attack after attack that have been perpetrated either by asylum seekers or people from immigrant families. it feeds into a narrative that border security is out of control, that
3:18 pm
those coming into a particular country are not really known about the potential threats that they might pose, the security risk that they might pose as well. and of course, this the latest example of that in germany now, absolutely horrific. >> martin and mark white, we are but four weeks away from a huge election in germany. this will play election in germany. this will play out into that. and of course our thoughts are with the two year old. can you imagine that? mark white, thank you very much for that. okay, chris, let's just taken the wind out of ourselves completely. it's just astonishingly bad news, that is. but let's let's try and pull this back to british domestic politics. and again, this is along a knife crime as well. axel rudakubana. but you've got an update, a new line potentially on what did the conservatives know and when. >> so in the house yesterday, yvette cooper answered a question from ben obe. jvt said that the home office ministers found out in august about the rising in october about the al—qaeda manual. but what is
3:19 pm
fascinating is, is that she also said that the opposition was briefed at the same time, though the tory opposition was briefed at the same time as ministers. >> now in. >> now in. >> august, at the same time, we didn't know if it was in august and october or whenever. but at the same time, the conservatives were told about this terror link. what happened was, i can reveal that james cleverly mp, who was the home secretary, the shadow home secretary, was briefed on privy council terms on the incident. now, that means that you can't share it widely. you're briefed on what's going on, but you can't share it widely. so. >> so how on 3044 00:19:35,032 -->
