if the potential memorial. if the community wishes. a man who murdered his partner's toddler after staying up late playing video games has been jailed for life today, with a minimum term of 25 years. christopher stockton inflicted fatal head injuries on 22 month old charlie roberts at their home last july. the boy's mother, paula roberts, admitted neglecting him by failing to seek treatment for his injuries that stockton caused and was jailed for four years. the judge in the case said stockton's actions were excruciatingly painful for the young boy, and that only he would know why he had inflicted the fatal blow. detectives called it a heartbreaking case and are urging people to report any concerns about child welfare. in other news, sir keir starmer has been chairing a so—called secret meeting today to tackle investment reform and growth amid plummeting poll ratings and grim economic forecasts. it comes after the bank of england slashed its

growth forecast, cut interest rates to 4.5% and warned of further drops in living standards. donald trump's tariff threats and global trade turmoil are also being blamed for the uncertainty. meanwhile, a new poll is predicting a three way tie at the next general election, with labour cabinet ministers set to lose their seats and nigel farage holding the balance of power. the survey of almost 6000 people found reform uk would have 175 seats, up from only five. labour, meanwhile, would drop from 412 to 174, and the tories would gain around 50 wes streeting. yvette cooper and angela rayner would be among those to lose their seats, with the conservatives and reform building a coalition, that's the most likely outcome. if an election was held tomorrow. turning now to the middle east, and hamas has named the next hostages to be freed in gaza this weekend, including three men. they are eli sharabi, ohad ben—ami and or levi. 18 hostages

have so far been released, with israel freeing 383 palestinian prisoners in return. by the end of this ceasefire stage, 33 hostages and 1900 prisoners are expected to be released, though israel says eight of its hostages are dead. meanwhile, hamas has accused israel of blocking critical humanitarian aid. that claim, though, is disputed by the united nations. back here at home, the liverpool manchester railway line continues to be shut tonight after a car crashed onto the tracks at salford. train services across northern england and north wales are facing severe disruptions until at least 10:00 tonight. network rail says though the vehicle has been removed and damaged, overhead lines are being repaired. police have arrested a 30. a man in his 30s on suspicion of drink driving, and he is now in hospital with injuries that aren't thought to be life threatening. authorities have arrested a second woman, accused of using wigs and disguises to fraudulently sit

the uk citizenship test for 12 other people. the 42 year old was detained during a raid in kent, where officers found multiple wigs and suspected fake documents. another woman, in her 20s, was also arrested after allegedly hiding under a bed. authorities say the scam could allow people to unlawfully gain the right to remain in the uk. both suspects are now in custody and investigations continue. itv has pulled gino d'acampo shows from its schedule after accusations of inappropriate and intimidating behaviour. those shows include family fortunes and secrets of the south. they've both been replaced this weekend with no plans to air a new series filmed last october. itv says dozens of people accused the chef of aggressive and sexualised language, though he denies the claims as deeply upsetting. royal news and the king and queen will host. hollywood actor and foodie stanley tucci for a black tie dinner tonight at highgrove, celebrating italian cuisine and

>> in december 2020, i was in my office working on the expected brexit deal with my team. we had to analyse the deal as it came in at speed. that's what i was doing. what were they doing? suitcases of booze into downing street, partying and fighting, vomiting up the walls, leaving the cleaners to remove red wine stains. that's the difference. i was working, they were partying. >> look, guys, we heard that. i think personally he's up to his neck in it. this was the height of lockdown when he was criticising boris johnson and people in number 10 downing street. turns out that him and rachel from accounts were having voice coaching lessons. they could have done this on zoom or by teams meeting, surely. chloe? >> absolutely. and now this was in december 2020. at this point, we've dealt with covid restrictions for a long time and everyone is used to zoom. everyone knows how to use it. but apparently for this voice coaching lesson, he couldn't do it on zoom, which just seems absolutely beyond me. this is

he's got far more charisma than starmer will have after a million voice coaching lessons. now, you mention the fact that, oh, people in reform and this and that were probably breaking lockdown rules. the reason why this is such a big scandal is because the hypocrisy is so off the scale. this wouldn't be as big of a scandal if it weren't for the fact that keir starmer, angela rayner and whatnot were saying boris johnson must resign. keir starmer himself said you cannot be a law maker and a law breaker. he said when he was caught having a curry in durham. if i am found guilty, i will do the honourable thing and i will resign. he may. >> not be, but. >> not be, but. >> let's get back to the issue, guys. voice coaches this day and age, should politicians of their experience. chris used to be a barrister for goodness sake. why is he having voice coaching lessons? and 1508 00:08:51,0
