with your headlines. >> hello there. very good morning to you. our top stories. the home office has tightened the rules on becoming a british citizen, making it almost impossible for those arriving in small boats to apply successfully. previously, refugees who reached the uk by irregular routes could apply, but only after being in the country for ten years. but the new guidance now advises authorities to reject an application. if the person arrives illegally, it could prevent thousands of refugees from becoming british citizens despite having been granted asylum. the refugee council estimates it will stop more than 70,000 from obtaining citizenship. meanwhile, a palestinian family has been granted the right to live in the uk after applying to enter the country through the ukrainian refugee scheme. the parents and their four children fled gaza after their home was destroyed by an israeli airstrike. they appued by an israeli airstrike. they applied for entry via the

ukraine scheme in an effort to join the father's brother, who is a british citizen and has lived here since two thousand and seven. the home office says it rigorously contested two appeals at tribunal hearings after the family's application to live in the uk was initially refused. housing secretary angela rayner says £350 million of her budget will go towards building more affordable homes in england. the majority of that will go towards the construction of 2800 additional homes. more than half of those will be for social rent. now £50 million will be given to the local authority housing fund to fill 250 new council houses. the government also plans to stop rogue landlords receiving housing benefit if their properties are substandard. heathrow airport is set to confirm a multi—billion pound expansion to increase capacity as it prepares to build a third runway. terminals two and five will be expanded. the layout of

the airfield will be reconfigured in an effort to improve punctuality, and there will also be investment to boost bus and coach connections. the development is separate from a new runway and will be privately funded, with airlines and customers facing higher costs for expanded services. finally, king charles is to host political leaders for a so—called sleepover at windsor castle. the king charles is believed to have invited the prime minister, as well as first ministers from devolved nations, to a dinner later. some of those leaders will stay overnight at the royal residence before having breakfast in the morning. it will be seen as charles second intervention in politics in a week, after sir keir starmer and angela rayner joined him on a rare joint engagement on a housing project. and that's it for the moment. i'll be back with more just after 10:00. >> for the very latest gb news direct to your smartphone, sign up to news alerts by scanning

9:36 am
did what little children do and he started to chatter away and he started to chatter away and he sort of slightly interrupted. and i have to say the whole clip is very long. and he does stand there quite quietly and just listens in the centre of that absolute melee of the media there in the oval office. but you see this, this administration are very pro family and i have to say i quite like it. he's got loads of kids. elon musk. >> he's got 12. is he going to take one every day. >> well. >> well. >> but he at one point he had the child. look if you're watching, if you're listening on the radio, he puts his child on his shoulders at one point. so he's taking questions. but i think there's more. there's method in this madness because it's much more difficult for the journalist to ask a hostile question. when four year old sunny jim x is there , and. sunny jim x is there, and. >> i have to say, i like it. >> i have to say, i like it. >> i like it. i mean. >> look. >> look. >> i think there's a time and a place for children. i don't think that's it. >> well. >> well. >> the thing is, i think as a
9:37 am
mother there's definitely a double standard. so as men, am i right, ladies? let me know. men can take their kids into the office and everyone goes, oh, isn't it sweet? whereas if that was a female member of that administration with her child there, i think she'd be accused of being unprofessional. i think she'd be somebody say, can you not find childcare when she comes to work? and yet men have a different standard when it comes to that kind of thing. it's happened. i remember when i had my first child, and my husband and i both had a meeting on the same day, and my mum wasn't available to help with granny day care that day. and i said, well, who's going to have it? and he said, i'll take him to the meeting with me. it was a newspaper, a telegraph. and i said, oh, you can't? he said, i can, i can. and of course, he walks into the meeting with a six month old baby in a carrier and just puts them in the middle of the table and all the journalists. oh, isn't it lovely? how lovely. what an amazing dad. he's taken his child to a meeting. i could not have done that as a woman because i would have been treated like. well, she's not professional, is she? i was trying to make sure nobody knew i had a kid, whereas he could

parade them anyway. let us know your thoughts. gbnews.com/yoursay. >> now this is fascinating. it's on the front page of the telegraph. a family of six palestinian migrants have been granted the right to live in this country after they applied to that scheme, which was set up for ukrainian refugees after russia moved into ukraine. >> but does this ruling open the floodgates to everyone who lives in a conflict zone? >> well, let's talk to the director of the sanctuary foundation, doctor krish kandiah, who joins us now. this doctor a&e, this particular scheme has been closed down now. anyway, the ukrainian scheme. but this will be surely seized on by people living in other war zones who say they're living in terror to say, well, if they can come in from gaza, we can come in from come in from gaza, we can come in f
