gbnews.com/advent. >> good evening to you. thank you for your company. some breaking news to kick off the show tonight. a 23 year old syrian asylum seeker has allegedly stabbed five people in southern austria, killing a 14 year old boy. a police officer

said the suspect was a syrian national with legal residence in austria and has now been detained. joining me now is former head of the national counter terrorism security office, chris phillips. chris good evening. what's the latest, please, on this situation unfolding in austria? >> good evening. well, it seems that this person has been arrested, a number of people stabbed, as we've heard. and it just seems to be that the nightmare continues with people that are asylum seekers committing terrorist attacks or certainly serious crime attacks across europe. austria has, of course, been focused recently, but this is an issue for all of us right across europe now, i'm afraid. >> chris, i don't know if you've seen this picture doing the rounds online, but the suspect is pictured being surrounded by police and he's pulling the one finger salute, which is traditionally or has been seen by isis fighters in the past. have you seen that? >> yes, i have, and as smirking as well, having just killed a 14

year old boy, it's just quite incredible that we have to face this. you know, our governments have really let us down over the last ten years. and unfortunately, we're going to see a number of these over the coming years as well. and, you know, the uk is not immune to this either. >> well, it's ironic, isn't it? it comes i mean, less than 24 hours after vice president of the united states jd vance gave that what some would call a barnstorming speech in munich at the security conference, saying precisely this. you have opened the floodgates to asylum seekers from far lands, faraway lands. we don't know who they are. and this is the result of that, that policy, you know, the uncontrolled mass migration, welcoming the world's needy into europe. when you mention the uk there, chris, what's your thoughts on security in the uk? because i spoke to i've got to be careful how i articulate this. i spoke to somebody who works in counter—terror recently and they said especially in the north—east of england, staffing is very, very sparse, to say the

least. and there are attacks being foiled almost daily. >> yeah, that wouldn't surprise me. i'm not aware of that myself, ben. but what i would say is that we know that individuals are able to get in a car, get a knife and go and kill people. that's such a simple thing for them to do, if you're that way inclined. excuse me, but i mean, we have to say that the police have done a tremendous job security services, but they're not going to be successful all the time. and there are so many people now on the worrying list, if you like, that we've got no hope of preventing these attacks in the future. >> okay. well, i hope you're wrong on that, but time will tell. chris phillips, thank you very much for your company tonight. appreciate it. and we'll bring you more updates from austria throughout the show as soon as we get them. but now we move on to the main story from tonight, which is on a one. bofis from tonight, which is on a one. boris johnson, the party, as you can read in 1984, they told you

to reject the evidence of your eyes and ears. they told you men can become women. they told you vaccines stop transmission and they told you boris johnson was a conservative. none of those claims are true, of course, not least the third one, because what kind of conservative bankrupts britain with a £3 trillion march towards net zero at the altar of climate change? >> but i want to tell you that the cost of failing to reach net zero by 2050, the cost of failing to tackle climate change, will be much, much greater. we in the uk, we will. i'm afraid to say. we were the first. we were. we were the beginners of the crime. we started. the industrial revolution began in this country. we began this, this huge pattern of hydrocarbon emissions. >> then he allowed record numbers of people, millions and their dependents to come to this country willy nilly in what's now infamously dubbed the boris wave, despite claims like this. >> but you could you could still

have people coming in , provided have people coming in, provided they had a job to go to and provided that they were they had talents and skills that were useful for the uk economy. >> he had the world at his feet, didn't he? the future of britain in his hands. he went from this. >> it is now 10:00 and we can reveal the full details of the joint broadcasters exit poll, which is predicting a large conservative majority. >> two this. >> two this. >> i want you to know

>> two this. >> i want yowho know l; 777777777 >> two this. >> i want yowho hadrv l; 77777—77— >> two this. >> i want yowho had cut ’ £7 >> two this. >> i want yowho had cut taxes 27 conservative who had cut taxes and control our borders. boris had the power to do everything donald trump is doing right now in america. only six years earlier, he really could have taken back control, all of it. he could have been the best prime minister we ever had. instead, the reality is that he bottled it, and he chose to inflict an open borders experiment on britain, a deranged march to net zero and

devastating lockdowns. two ironically, he became one of the worst prime ministers this country has ever had. so, boris, don't even think about it. keep writing your books. stay in the kitchen. we're moving on without you and despite you. but i'm joined now by a former adviser to boris johnson. oscar. oscar. good evening. thank you for joining me. >> good evening. ben. >> good evening. ben. >> it all seems to be happening. what a coincidence. kemi is under pressure. there's a leadership coup potentially underway. and then talk of your old boss coming back into the fray. have you spoken to boris recently about this? >> not not. not recently. and certainly not since those rumours surrounding kemi have come to the fore. i think the message i have to the tory party quickly on that is calm down. i mean, it's quite a hard reality for the tory party to suck up, but we are in the wilderness. we are borderline irrelevant at the moment. the idea that we need to start chopping and changing and chucking leaders out already, or, you know, chucking
