to boycott white house saint patrick's day celebrations over trump's stance on the israel—gaza conflict. the party leader, mary lou mcdonald, says she won't attend an event at the white house because of what she called a principled stance against the expulsion of the palestinian people from gaza. however, no invites have officially been issued so far. let's just turn to some breaking political news here at home. labour mp andrew gwynne, who was sacked over what were described as vile whatsapp messages, is now under investigation by parliament's standards watchdog. he was dismissed as a health minister earlier this month after seeing sexist, antisemitic and racist messages sending rather those messages in a group chat with other labour mps. the parliamentary commissioner for standards is now probing whether his actions caused significant damage to the reputation of mps and the house of commons. also breaking this hour, the solicitors regulation authority

is reopening its investigation into business secretary jonathan reynolds over claims he misrepresented his legal career. regulators had initially reviewed the issue and closed that case after reynolds corrected his professional profiles online, but they've now received new information and say they will be taking another look at that issue. and it's an afternoon of breaking political news. we're just hearing that sir keir starmer has told his ministers to admit that labour ignored working people's concerns about immigration for too long. in a letter seen this afternoon by gb news, the prime minister says politics became too scared to acknowledge that some migrants are genuine refugees, but some aren't. he's warning that labour must stop patronising voters and prove that reform uk's policies on tax and the nhs are not the answer. and in that letter, citing a woman in oldham, he says people feel they must justify their

concerns to be to avoid being labelled racist. and he's also pledged to stand up for ordinary people who feel shut out and ignored by elites. volodymyr zelenskyy has told donald trump's envoy that ukraine needs reliable security guarantees before any peace deal with russia. it comes as the white house cancelled a conference with zelenskyy after donald trump called him a dictator. and elon musk accused kyiv of being a massive graft machine. meanwhile, 12 civilians have been killed in russian strikes over the past day as homes and infrastructures are hit. reports also say the us is blocking a g7 statement calling russia the aggressor. on the third anniversary of the invasion, meanwhile, french president emmanuel macron says trump cannot be weak against vladimir putin. it comes ahead of the french leader's visit to washington next week, where he'll attempt to convince trump that their interests are the same. the intervention now puts
