>> sophie. thank you. the top stories us president donald trump says the ukrainian president can come back when he's ready for peace after a heated meeting at the white house, volodymyr zelenskyy travelled to washington, dc as he attempted to secure a ceasefire agreement with russia and a possible mineral deal with the us. but his visit ended prematurely with the signing of an agreement and a joint press conference with mr trump cancelled following their oval office clash. >> your country is in big trouble. can i wait a minute? n0, trouble. can i wait a minute? no, no, you�*ve done a lot of talking. your country is in big trouble. i know you're not winning. no, you�*re not winning this. you have a damn good chance of coming out, okay? because of mr president. and your men are brave. but they had to use our military. what about if you didn't have our military equipment? you invited me. you didn't have our military equipment. this war would have been over in two weeks. in three days? >> i heard it from putin in three days. >> mr president, with respect, i think it's disrespectful for you think it�*s disrespectful for you to come into the oval office and try to litigate this in front of

ahead of a summit hosted by sir keir starmer tomorrow on x. zelenskyy has responded to many of his european counterparts expressing thanks for their support. elsewhere, the vatican says the pope had a peaceful night and is resting after suffering what was described as an isolated breathing crisis. the vatican says pope francis received non—invasive mechanical ventilation to help him breathe as he continues to battle double pneumonia. the latest episode comes after a couple of days in which the vatican statements had been slightly more positive. talking of a slight improvement in the pontiff's condition, a statement says he is alert, but his prognosis remains guarded. pope francis was admitted to rome's gemelli hospital on the 14th of february with a severe respiratory infection that triggered other complications. elsewhere, teachers are to be consulted about a 2.8% pay rise and whether they're prepared to and whether they�*re prepared to strike over the offer. around 284,000 members of the national
