a funeral held for byrd and melanie billings. what their family is saying today about the attack and the investigation. take a look at this here. this surveillance video from the lobby of a hotel in jakarta, indonesia. it shows a suspected suicide bomber. there he is. who just a few seconds later detonated his explosives. before his death, michael jackson was working on some new material. you will hear one of his unreleased songs. that is just ahead. good friday to you, you're watching hln news and views. so glad you are, i'm susan hendricks. we start right now this hour in florida where the funeral for byrd and melanie billings was held today in pensacola. the couple was gunned down last week while most of their adopted children were nearby. a hortiffic crime.

earlier this week investigators recovered a safe from the billings home. contained only children's prescription drugs and no cash inside. well, michael billings, the 44-year-old son of byrd billings from a previous marriage told a tampa newspaper he is staying away from today's funeral because he doesn't feel safe. and coming up, we'll have a live report on the funeral for byrd and melanie billings, plus, the latest on the investigation really tying up loose ends during the investigation close to being closed. ed lavandera will have a live report. at least six people are dead from bomb blasts that hit two luxury hotels in jakarta, indonesia. video seen from right here inside the jw marriott. an unidentified man seen walking through the hotel lobby, there he is, with the rolling suitcase. then, seconds later, the bomb goes off. suicide bombers checked in as guests before carrying out the coordinated attacks. more than 50 people were wounded, including eight

americans. the blast occurred almost simultaneously at the marriott and ritz-carlton hotel. peter bergen says the attacks have the hallmark of one particular group. >> it would be kind of surprising if it wasn't this group, but they have taken a lot of hits over the last several years and the indonesian government had a pretty aggressive celt of operations against them with the help of the australian government because the number of australians killed in these attacks. in fact, they atargeted the australian embassy along with the jw marriott back in 2003 and also help from the united states government and the indonesian public, of course, is also against this group. so, this group has taken some pretty heavy hits, a number of hits from senior leaders and a number of bomb makers have been arrested but this is the way, if it is indeed them, their way of saying, we're back. >> indonesian police say they're still unclear what group is behind that attack.

i-reporter greg wollstencratt was on the scene. the first explosion was i see at the marriott a big bloom of black and gray smoke. i work for one of the local television networks and to see what it was all about and i got down to the ground floor and there was another huge explosion at the ritz-carlton. there was smoke billowing out of the building all over the place and all the windows were blown out on the street side, quite extensively with smoke and there was already some people starting to move outside and i went up the driveway toward the lobby and all the windows were blown out on the lobby side, as well.

the fbi isn't providing details about a possible motive or how she was killed. they would only say "they have suspicions about how it happened and that they're waiting on an autopsy for more information." we'll bring that to you. president barack obama gave a fiery speech at the naacp convention last night. the country's first african-american president praised the progress of aphrokb americans. but he warned that there are still barriers to over come. president barack obama said his administration is working on some of those and he urged teachers, students and parents to do a little more. >> they might think they have a pretty good jump shot or a pretty good flow, but our kids can't all aspire to be lebron or lil wayne. i want them aspiring to be scientists and engineering, doctors and teachers, not just ballers and rappers. i want them aspiring to be a supreme court justice. i want them aspiring to be the president of the united states

mistress in what investigators are calling a murder/suicide. she bought a fully loaded .9 millimeter pistol. federal prosecutors plan to announce these charges later today. pope benedict will be wearing a cast on his arm for about a month. apparently he fell and broke his right wrist. the vatican says the 82-year-old pope was on vacation in the italian alps when the accident happened. before heading to the hospital to have the bone reset. check out these amazing shots. live pictures from space where the shuttle "endeavour" will be docking at the international space station later this hour. right now the spacecraft is performing a 360 degree backflip of sorts so the space station crew can photograph the shuttle and check it for any damage. some of the shuttle's thermal tiles were hit by foam during liftoff on wednesday. again, set to land at the

police and pro government militiamen clashed outside of islamic's main prayer service. tear gas was fired who were calling on president mahmoud ahmadinejad to resign. dozens were arrested. inside the service, government opponents chanted freedom. their top clerical balker akbar rafsanjani delivered the sermon. several people who lost loved ones in the september 11th attacks say time for justice is now. they say president obama's order to close guantanamo bay and suspend terror trials will only

prolong their suffering. the group of victims' families visited the detention center in cuba this week. secretary of state hillary clinton said the obama administration is committed to carrying out justice. an update now on a story we brought to you yesterday. a second person has died after a stage roof being built for a madonna concert collapsed. a french hospital said the british worker died today. a french worker was killed immediately when the roof fell apart yesterday. eight others were injured. it's not known what caused the collapse yet, but police say a faulty power wrench may be to blame. madonna canceled her scheduled sunday concert after the accident. it could be two more weeks before we see the full autopsy report on michael jackson. the autopsy report was due this week at the earliest, but the l.a. county coroner's office said it is going to take a little longer now. no word on what caused the delay. the toxicology reports should include whether any drugs were in jackson's system when he died and whether drugs caused his

a funeral just wrapped up for byrd and melanie billings, the florida couple who were gunned down in their home last week. before the service began the billings family spoke to reporters and ed lavandera is in pensacola and, ed, not your typical behavior would be after the funeral. what would you say? >> based on what the family attorney just revealed, something quite unexpected. the family attorney coming out a little while ago and probably to the dismay of investigators and

prosecutors in this case revealing what has really been at the heart and the center of a lot of speculation just what was inside the safes taken from the billings home. >> as a result of the intense speculation regarding the motive of the crime, i have been authorized to tell you that the safe that was removed from the billings home contained only children's prescription medication, important family documents and some jewelry of sentimental value. hopefully, this will put to rest the intense speculation and rumors that are swirling about the billings family. >> susan. we've tried to reach out to the sheriff's office here and they are deferring all comments to the attorney.

whether this attorney is saying is, indeed, accurate. but the back story here is that there is a great deal of sensitivity and frustration from the billings' family because of what has been reported as the dea's involvement into this case. they worry that people will draw the connection that the dea's involvement somehow puts the billings family in a bad light and they're very sensitive to that. very frustrated and angered with news media reports about the dea's involvement in this case. so, that's kind of what i think is inspiring this a lot, the background of it to kind of get to that point and having them come out and announce this. because if you remember, prosecutors and investigators have been asked repeatedly over the course of the last week just what is inside that safe and they have tried to keep that information very close and that's not something they wanted to reveal. >> any word if they're moving in on any other suspects? i believe it's eight arrests now. any word if the case is completely closed?

>> investigators say they wrapped up the bulk of their investigation, however, they do say there are two or three other people that they consider persons of interest. in fact, we're told that next week we could expect another arrest. so, even though the bulk of this investigation is over, authorities clearly not done yet. >> devastating story and the couple being laid to rest just a couple moments ago. ed lavandera, thanks so much. some amazing stories of survival here. a 5-month-old baby is in good condition after being stabbed with a needle and dumped in the convenience store trash bin. oklahoma city police say witnesses called 911 after seeing a woman stabbing the baby in the store parking lot. when police arrived they found the woman walking on the street naked. they then followed a trail of blood to a trash can where they found the baby crying. the woman and the baby were taken to the hospital. also, a boy was buried in the sand on a maryland beach was dead, but this story has a happy

ending. he was digging a tunnel tuesday when it collapsed. he had no pulse and wasn't breathing and completely lifeless. life guards started giving him cpr. take a listen. >> about four cycles through cpr we started realizing his eyes started to open up and he started to gasp. >> when he started gasping a little and his eyed opened, it was a relief. >> imagine the relief that was. now, the beach patrol there advises people not to dig holes more than knee deep. the boy's mother said he can't wait to get back to the beach. a car dealer believes he knows how to drive up sales. starting next month, the owner of a dealership in butler, missouri, is giving free ak hp 47s to anyone who buys one of his pickup trucks. mark mueller has a motto, god, guts, guns and american pickup trucks. everyone that works for him have

international space station. right now the space craft is about 50 feet away and nasa says the docking is ahead of schedule and may happen within the next few minutes. that's a camera view from the nose of the shuttle, i believe. the shuttle and its seven astronauts are delivering the last piece of japan space station lab. vote on sonia sotomayor may happen as early as next week. republicans may ask for a week's delay. sotomayor wrapped up three days of direct questioning yesterday and even her republican critics concede she will have no trouble being confirmed as the first latino on the supreme court before the august recess. yesterday marked the 40th anniversary of the apollo 11 moon launch and a few days later man landed on the moon. arguably one of the highest technological achievements of the 21st century but some people think it never happened, it's all a conspiracy. one of cnn.com's most popular stories. hi, melissa. >> hi, susan. you have pictures, you have video and audio clips of buzz aldrin's moon landing and the five following landings, as well. yet, there are those that say it never happened. there is actually a poll and we
