12:21 pm
the store brand versus name brand, i'll buy the brand name if it's on sale and that makes it cheaper. >> tune in this weekend to see how much clark saved by buying these store brands and learn how your next trip to the grocery store could be a cheaper one. catch him on saturdays at 12:00 eastern time. in case you missed it, the resolution to the rescue of this window washer we were watching just a moment ago. and we actually have got joshua johnson, from the long beach fire department. all right, joshua, these were your guys that pulled this off, great work. >> correct. that was one of our truck company, our truck one and urban search and rescue team. they're one of our highly trained specific groups in our fire department that train for this type of incident. this is not a common incident you see. so their rope work, their
12:22 pm
extensive training has paid often with extremely high dividends today, i think. >> how tall is this building. >> it's 14 stories. >> all right, 14 stories, so these guys have been up there for -- there was a rescue that we did not get to see live, so your team actually rescued three people, tell us about that. >> i was not on scene as the first one got pulled up. but that individual was pulled up. the incident started about 8:30. they got that first individual at about 8:50, we had to pull him up over the top of the roof there. and you saw the second one there. he was at the top of the scaffolding there. he was tied off to the scaffolding and they were able to pull him up roughly about five or six minutes ago. they're going to check both the individuals out and make sure they're okay. the good thing is from my vantage point down on the ground is that he appeared to be looking around, calm as can be
12:23 pm
in that particular situation. and they were able to pull him up and now the crews are en route there. and the scaffolding company is coming to fix that situation. >> these situations are common enough that you train for this. when was the last time you remember your team having to do something like this? >> in my career, this is the first time i have seen that. but like you said, it's one of those rare occurrences that you train for this particular thing as best you can and then once the incident happens, your training kicks in. and the team we have is extremely well trained, highly trained individuals and you can easily see it, they were able to get the job done and make sure no injuries occurred. >> and now that they have done one, they can use this for further training for other people. because it seemed to go exactly like it was supposed to. >> perfect. >> and the video, the shot that
12:24 pm

12:25 pm
what you're seeing at all? but i'm assuming you're open to debate, you just don't like the way you're seeing the debate being carried out? >> i just don't see why it has to be a mob mentality and buy are we frightening people about having universal health care. it should not be a big issue. >> i think people are going to disagree on something like a major overhaul of health care, how do you see it playing out in these town hall meetings? >> well, like penelope, i agree that we need to have discourse, but i think the reason that we're seeing what we're seeing is because our politicians absolutely refuse to listen to us. democrats refuse to listen to republican constituents, republicans refuse to listen to democratic constituents so this is the only way that people can see that, you know, to get the
12:26 pm
word out, because obviously it's showing up all over the tv which just encourages more people to dissent and make their opinions known. but i also think that it's extremely elitist of the democrats to think that nobody would be against this health care bill. it's self-centered, it's egotistical and it's narcissistic. and granted the republicans do it too. >> you would think there's a little bit of blame to go around but a little bit more on the democrats, right. >> absolutely. >> tom is calling us from plano, texas. tom, what's your impression of what you're seeing at the meeting? >> these two parties are planning to disrupt. they're organized. they will just shut down the truth, they're hijacking meetings. as one person said, it reminded them of the brown shirts in germany before hitler.
12:27 pm
>> that's pretty harsh, tom. >> i know i thought it was too. but they're trying to shout out the truth, they don't want the truth to be told. one of the pieces of information i think that cnn ran was the insurance industry was spending $70 million a day to defeat health care. they could use that money a lot better in other places. there was a lot couple of data information things that i read that- >> tom, i do have a follow-up question for you, but i appreciate it very much. we're going to continue to talk about this, what do you think about the protests at the town hall meetings? is it free speech or intimidation? you can call us at 1-877-tell-hln. you can also text us, text the
