you know, we're counting down to one of the biggest moments in tiger woods' life. woods will talk publicly today for the first time since his alleged affairs were revealed. will his wife, elin, be there? don't miss hln's live coverage at 11:30 a.m. eastern. iran may be working to secretly develop a warhead for a missile. the watchdog agency addressed its concerns in a draft report. iran said its nuclear program is designed solely for energy and
7:31 am
for medical purposes. a man who crashed his plane into the irs building in texas apparently held a grudge against the agency. now, the scene, it was scary, reminiscent of the 9/11 attacks. two bodies were found and 13 people were injured. and authorities say the pilot joseph stack set his own house on fire before targeting the irs building. you know, we have really incredible tape of that story from ireporters who were on the road and i'll work to bring that to you. welcome, i'm robin meade. the big story today is about tiger woods. three and a half hours away until the world hang on his every word and he will speak out for the first time since the sex scandal tore his family amart. woods will take no questions. it is not slowing down the media circus nearby. our own rafer weigel is in place about half a mile from where tiger will speak. a lot of people who are up waing you now from ponte vedra, half a

mile? it is a strange set up that they have. >> it is a strange set up and the restricted media access has caused a backlash. the golf association are boycotting this statement because no questions will be asked and we are not allowed in. media from all over has descended from -- we are basically spread out all around the marriott here and you can see a bunch of satellite trucks from different parts of the country. but here's the irony, we're all here, we're not allowed anywhere near tiger woods. we'll watch this statement from the ball room set up with a bunch of plasma tvs, they're flat screens, a good high definition view from a tv screen. here is how far we are away from this location. we are, this map here, we are in the upper right-hand corner where the location is in the lower left-hand corner. we are not allowed to see him
7:33 am
pull up. we don't know how he is going to get there. we're not allowed to get any look of the room ahead of time on the inside. here's the other thing, a lot of people question the timing of it, robin. pga commissioner says once tiger makes this statement he's going back into sex rehab, confirming that he was, in fact, in sex rehab and he says that he was allowed a break from his rehab to be with his family. that's why he's making the statement before he goes back and then, presumably, his return to golf. >> that's a new bit of information from you there. good job, rafer. we did not have it confirmed that he was in some kind of rehab or therapy and then this morning we did hear that that was the case, but we didn't know what kind of therapy and now you're saying that is confirmed by somebody that it was a sex therapy. >> by the commissioner of the pga tour himself that tiger
7:34 am
woods was not only in sex lehab but going back to sex rehab. >> speaking of the pga tour headquarters there, the timing of this and what any type of return to golf right look like. >> well, the speculation, it's not speculation, what we're hearing is that the first tournament he will return to will be march 22nd, something called the tavistock cup which makes a lot of sense. this is a tournament hard to get to because it's between two country clubs and the pros between these two country clubs play each other. it is going to be very difficult to get in to cover that tour. after that the arnold palmer invitational makes a lot of sense, he won that six times. again, a lot of restricted media access for that turnment and that will be a warm up right into the masters, the first of four majors. tiger woods is not going to miss playing in any majors this year when he's four away from jack nickla nicklaus' record. four wins away. >> he is going to bring us that statement at 11:00 a.m. eastern.

here is what you and your fellow viewers are saying. janet writes, i want him to apologize to his wife and his family and all the women that he was with and i want him to find the peace in his soul and work towards being a better man. janet, you're a very giving person it sounds like. jennifer says, does tiger owe the public an apology? of course not. but it is a smart business move to apologize to the public since they are the ones who purchase those products he gets paid so much to sponsor. you have an opinion? come on, i know you do. choose the facebook option or e-mail option. either way, i would love to read your stuff on the air. we have the most comprehensive coverage of the tiger woods' statement here on hln. the first comments from tiger in a one-hour hln special. mike galanos, jane luvez mitchell and rafer weigel will team up. police have arrested a 15-year-old in connection with the shooting at a church in

you know what, the scene at an irs building at austin, texas, yesterday brought back vivid memories of the 9/11 attack. horrible video. look at this one. one security expert says this plane crash, what happened was this plane crashed into this building might be considered an act of terrorism. a man who crashed his plane into the building had some kind of a grudge against the irs. two bodies have been found and they have not been identified. 13 other people were injured. >> i do think people are going to say, it is terrorism. he had an ideology and he had a political dogma and point to make. he used violence to further that political agenda and was willing to kill himself and innocents to do it. certainly if you're inside a building and see a plane coming at you, you are terrified. it's not part of a larger group, but it has all the feeling and all the indication of terrorism.
7:43 am
>> get this. follow me here on a timeline. the pilot joseph stack first set his own house on fire and then got a plane and flew it into the irs building. the red cross says that his wife plans to contact the media and answer questions today. you know what, financially, tiger woods has a whole lot of at stake when he makes a statement today. his image was worth hundreds of millions of dollars and the key word maybe is was. jennifer westhoven is here. morning. >> morning. how much of it could hinge on every word he says today. now, tiger still has nike and gillette and arts supporting him. that support may hinge on what he says. this is big business. losing accenture and at&t could
7:44 am
destroy a comeback. what analysts say about this. i know there are a lot of different opinions but the pr expert says by creating that false familyman image, tiger was not just lying to his wife, he was efebtively lying to the public to millions of people and a lot of people are upset about that. they say to manage the tiger brand, look, it's the same at managing any brand. johnson & johnson or toyota in crisis management mode. so, this news conference today. this is the moment, they say, where he's got the opportunity the clean things up. but how to do that, if he's totally forthcoming. so, listen for him. does he sound honest, does he sound sorry? also what they say you want to watch for, does he show that he gets the impact on people. a lot of you are writing in and saying it doesn't have an impact on me. but for a lot of people it does. they want him to say that he
7:45 am
understands that. there's something there to be cleaned up is what pr experts say. once that's clean, then you move on. robben? >> this is really interesting angles from you. does he know the impact of how it impacted other people? fascinating. >> a lot of people say, look, the impact is just his wife. but, no, look, i believed in who you were and that is not who you were. >> very good angles there from a business standpoint. we're asking you, what do you think tiger should say this morning and we'll read your views on the big announcement this morning. and then a mystery in san diego. authorities look for a couple and their two children who disappeared a few weeks ago.

7:51 am
not only will i be more likely to spend it, but i would not be earning the interest in different type of savings accounts or investing account. i've been looking for smart ways to invest my money. can you help me? >> tiffany, i am so proud of you. you know why? because the typical american if they suddenly get a big, fat paycheck, spend the paycheck. you, on the other hand, are trying to set yourself up for a secure financial future. my favorite thing for you to do with this excess pile of cash is put it in a special kind of investment known as a tax managed portfolio. this is something you do for a longer period of time, usually about five years. a typical tax managed portfolio requires 10 grand open. my favorite company to do it with, vanguard. they're the big daddy in this and the lowest-cost provider. >> clark will be your money coach if you want. he will teach you to save

>> what a scary sight. do you see this video? people couldn't believe what they were seeing. this was in texas yesterday. what may have led a man to turn his airplane into a weapon. plus a school district gave out laptops to the kids and now it's accused of using those laptops to spy on the students at home? ew! first, though, our top story. tiger woods is finally talking in about three hours. he will speak publicly for the first time in almost, what? three months since a small car crash turned into a huge scandal. these are the most recent pictures that we're getting in of the golf star. tmz says they were staged. the head of the pga says woods is talking now because he has a week off from therapy. he'll make a statement with friends and colleagues in the room with him and he will want answer questions, interesting. last night on hln's "prime news" they talked about whether today's statement will be enough. >> i think if he just makes a statement that will last something like five minutes
8:02 am
which is what everyone is speculating it doesn't really put a lot of answer out there and doesn't get enough apologies out there and people are going to have questions and that's a lot of what got him into trouble in the first place. people said this would not have been as big had he addressed the rumors initially. there will be more questions than answers. >> the media is camped outside his home. >> tmz reports security is everywhere and there's even a sket ski patrol in the lake behind tiger woods' house. our affiliate says they have not seen a lot of the activity around the house so far. so the question is is he even there or is he closer to where he'll make the statement. >> our own rafer weigel is half an hour to where he will speak which isn't each close to the house, 150 miles. rafer joins us, good morning to you. i don't know, what are people there saying? i know there's a lot of speculation. it's not like we know what he's going to say.
8:03 am
>> we don't know what he's going to say, robin. there was always kind of a strained relationship between the media and tiger woods' camp as they tried to restrict access. given the fact that they're not only taking questions and are only allowing a handful of reporters into today's statement, a huge development. the golf riders association has boycotted this event saying they should be allowed to ask questions and that it should be open to everybody in the media. also, we are learning the pga tour official, tim finchum in an interview yesterday used the word rehab when referring to what tiger woods was up to and in a letter obtained by the associated press, finchum said he is taking a break from therapy to deliver this statement before he goes back to therapy. that he had some time off to spend with his family, but it will be very interesting to see, robin. will he sound contrite and will he apologize to elin and the fans? who will he apologize to first
8:04 am
and will elin be there? >> will elin be there and is she going to do the politician's wife thing where you will stand there with the guy who wronged you? >> exactly, robin. the infamous image of kobe bryant and his wife vanessa in 2003. if this is about making amends and repairing the image she has to be there because she's the one he wronged the most. we have not confirmed that that the two of them were seen leaving the house together yesterday which would suggest that we will see elin at this statement in about three hours. >> thank you so much. >> who said they saw them leaving the house together? >> tmz. >> tmz.com. gotcha. as always, we do want to hear from you. what do you want tiger to say? what do you think of the whole scandal? do we have any right to be concerned about his personal biz? colleen says his statement will be a joke and it will be drafted
8:05 am
by a pr person and he will stand there like the dolt that he is and read it. >> deborah writes, i think it is trafrj that when a man cheats on his wife he's called a cheater unless he's famous and then it's his sex addiction. two very strong opinioned women there. i like that. go to cnn.com/robin and hit our facebook icon if i want to share a facebook comment and other people will see a comment and it will stir more comments from them, and if you want to e-mail straight us to, you can do that as well. no matter what it is, we appreciate it. by the way,y we have the most comprehensive coverage of his statement on hln. you will hear the first public comments about the scandal live on a one-hour hln special. 9:03 am
all these unconfirmed reports about him being in rehab and the first time we heard that is from the pga tour commissioner and then in a letter to the associated press he said that tiger woods was taking a break from therapy to come and release this statement and then he's going back to therapy after this. >> you know what, do we know, okay, let's talk about who is supposed to be there, invited, besides the golf writers, like you said. is elin going to stand up there with him? who else? >> we are learning that members of tiger woods' family will be sitting in the front row. there's presumably going to be a lot of empty seats because we're looking at three wire reporters in there and who in that family? extended family? elin's mom and twin sister? will we see kobe bryant and vanessa back in 2003. well, tmz is reporting that elin and tiger were seen leaving
9:04 am
their house together yesterday. now, we have not confirmed those reports, but that would suggest that we should see elin in that room and, let's be honest, that's who tiger needs to make amends to before the sponsors and some of the fans will come back. >> no reports of any tiger sightings this morning. you would think he's not staying at that building, he's going to have to get there. >> he lives nearby here but we don't know if he's coming by helicopter. we're not even allowed to go and get a look at him pulling up to the venue. i'm sorry, the access here is tighter than a presidential news conference and for golf fans and people who are not golf fans, this really speaks to, dare i say, the controlling nature of tiger woods' agent. tiger may have changed his stripes on a personal level, it's clear in terms of how much they're trying to control the access on this his agent has not. >> rafer, thank you very much. it is getting closer. you will hear the first public comments from tiger on this
