i bend dn to grab a box and he just pushed past my mom, grabbed the money and took f and ran. hey, welcome to hln news and views this third saturday in march. i'm natasha curry. it is crunch time in washington this weekend. president obama is going to the other end of pennsylvania avenue this afternoon and making another personal appeal to get house democrats to vote for the health care bill. >> we are on the verge of taking a decisive step to provide access for all americans to affordable quality health care. health insurance today is failing our families and our businesses. if we do nothing, the system will go bankrupt, premiums will keep skyrocketing, benefits will keep getting splash inting sla. and wh you get will cost us much, much more and our country's expenditures on health care will continue to go unchecked. >> the president is trying right now to win over two main groups, the 37 democrats who voted

against the bill the first time around and the 40 house democrats who voted for the measure only after strict restrictions on abortion were added to the bill. in this version, those restrictions have been modified. the house plans to vote on the bill tomorrow. democratic leaders are still trying to round up the 216 votes needed to pass the bill. cnn's latest count says that 29 democrats plan to vote against the legislation, 38 democratic no votes are needed to kill the bill. multiple democratic leadership sources have told cnn that democrats have more than 200 yes votes, 29 have not decided how they'll vote yet, and 15 have not responded. republicans have ved to do anything they can to kill the health care bill. they say nothing, not even the newest mates on how much the bill will cut the deficit, will change their opinion on it. >> this is all built and premised upon some assumptions that just don't bear out. and that now is indicative of

why they're having so many difficulties in lining up you the votes. the votes still aren't there, and this notion that we're going to see the text in the morning to incorporate yet even more changes when we make amendments to the rules committee reflects the fact they're having to go cut more deals. just outside capitol hill, large crowds of protesters upset with the health care bill have gathered there. it's all part of a broad coalition of tea party organizations launching their final push before a possible vote by the house. the code red tea party rallies are being coordinated across the u.s. and call for the termination of the current legislation. protesters plan a candle light vigil around the capitol tonight. pope benedict xvi says he is truly sorry for the sexual abuse victims suffered at the hands of catholic priests in hireland. the pope's 18-page letter is made public today and is expected to be read in churches across ireland morrow.

the country has been shaken by a government-backed report that shows the arch diocese and other authorities covered up child abuse you by priestsfrom 1975 to 2004. a spokesman says that the pope wants priests who abused children to face the consequences of their actions. >> the pope has also very strong words for the priests who have abused children, and he say that they have to respond to god and to the courts and also the justice of the state. >> allegations of abuse in the catholic church have been made in six countries, including the pope's native germany. when the pope was archbishop in the early 1980s, the munich ash much diocese ignored warnings to keep a molesting priest away

from children according to the doctor who alleged that. thousands of british airways passengers are in limbo today. they're not sure if their flights are going to take off. the airlines crews went on strike last night. the younion opposes a new plan. the strike will go on through monday and pick up against next weekend. the airline says it will use replacement workers to get about two-thirds of passengers to their destinations. the race is on to save some mes from floodwaters in north dakota here. folks in fargo are still filling in and stacking sandbags as a protective barrier. the waters of the red river are expected to rise another foot this weekend before cresting by tomorrow. construction of a clay dike was supposed to be finished this week, but there were a few problems. >> so you have a joint every six

feet. those joints we believe started failing, and so we started getting water on the dry side of our levy system. >> we're kind of ground zero right out of our back windows. >> more than a million sandbags have been stacked along the river. waters reached 36 1/2 feet this morning. to put that in perspective, it was at flood stage at just 18 feet. it's the rising crow river that's causing problems in parts of minnesota. local med report a bridge leading into downtown dell aknow has been closed to foot and car traffic r safety reasons. officials are worried the current could wash out the bridge. the river is expected to crest tonight. a storm warning issued for parts of oklahoma on the first day of spring. up to six inches of snow could fall in some parts of the state. just yesterday it was 70 degrees in oklahoma city, but today the snow is causing problems at will rogers world airport. several flights have been delayed by anour or more, and

continental airlines canceled all departures for the day along with some arrivals. best advice? call ahead before heading to that airport. well, health care is at the top of the legislative agend in washington this weekend. president obama does not want congress to forget about another of his top priorities financial reform rmt. in his weekly address, he wants congress to act quickly to set rules for financial markets. >> no one denies that reform is needed so the question we have to answer is very simple -- will we learn from this crisis, or will we condemn ourselves to repeat it? that's what's at stake. i urge those in the senate who support these reforms to remain strong, to resist the pressure from those who would preserve the status quo. to stand for their constituents and our country. i promise to use every tool at my disposal to see these reforms enacted, to ensure that the bill i sign into law reflects not the

special interests of wall street but the best interests of the american people. tomorrow's vote on health care reform will come over the loud objections of republicans as democrats try to find votes to pass it, the gop is standing united in its opposition. in his party's weekly address, john boehner spelled out why republicans will do everything they can to defeat the bill. >> the democrats' bill, which runs more than 2300 pages, actually raises premiums and ubers in a massive expansion of government with roughly 160 new boards, bureaus and commissions. instead of finding a responsible way to pay for all of this, democrats impose more than 5$50 billion in medicare cuts and tax hikes. in fact, this bill requires ten years of tax increases and ten years of medicare cuts just to pay for six years of supposed benefits, many of which don't even go into effect until 2014. that's not reform.

daily basis. so do my kids. i live in an agg community and even have the occasional cow wander through my backyard. stock growers are what keeps my part of the world going. it's impossible for everyone to go veggie because certain blood types thrive on red meat. bruce says the fact that the gov has encouraged people to avoid meat suggests it's wrong to eat meat. it's hard to stay away from high-fructose corn syrup. not sure about it being a proper thing for a governor to proclaim since i'm astonished by what governors do. it will have no impact on the meat industry, but i do think if just you one new recipe was liked enough to be added to the meals it may be worth it to make more people think more. and laura had this to say -- the worry that it will hurt the meat industry if we start eating healthier is right up there about worrying about up fair it

police in atlanta have arrested a 20-year-old man who may have killed a teenager for his cell phone. prod rick smith is charged with gunning down anthony beavers wednesday night. police say beavers refused to turn over his new cell phone to smith. he said the two struggled and smith shot beavers t. happened at a city train station. officials say it is the worst

ins department at a station in four years. the man suspected of making a racial comment over the intercom at a walmart is behind bars. last sunday a man's voice came over the pa system and calmly announced, attention walmart customers, all black people leave the store now. a manager athe new jersey store quickly apologized but many customers in the sore complained about what happened. walmart has said it thinks the announcement was made by a customer. police in washington state are on the lookout for a real-life cookie monster. check out this guy. a sueillance camera caught him swiping money from a girl scout selling cookies for a fund-raiser. as you can imagine, the poor girl was terrified. >> really shaky. i dn't really sleep last night. his head is in my mind. i can picture him. i started to pack up my cookies. i bent down to grab a box and he just pushed past my mom, grabbed the money and took off and ran.

but she hasn't performed in years. his next goal is to walk across the grand canyon. i hope not on a high wire. he comes from a long line of sky walkers, started by his great-grandfather. it's going to be a few more days before a south african sculpting team finds out if it created the world's largest chocolate rabbit. their easter bunny is, get this, 12 feet 5 inches tall and wghs more than 3 tons. it took three days to complete this. the slpture will be on display until march 27th. then it wille broken up into chocolate bits and distributed to local orphanages just in time for easter. for a few weeks now, trainers at seaworld in orlando haven't been in the water where orcas are performing. coming up, more changes that were made after a killer whale killed a trainer after a show.

now to win over two main groups, the 37 democrats who voted against the bill the first time around and the 40 house democrats who voted for the measure only after strict restrictions on abortion were added to the bill. in this version, those restrictions have been modified. the house plans to vote on the bill tomorrow. democratic leaders are still trying to round up the 216 votes needed to pass the bill. our sister network cnn's latest count says 31 democratslan to vote against the legislation. 38 democratic no votes are needed to kill the bill. now, multiple democratic leadership sources have told cnn that democrats have more than 200 yes votes, 29 have not decided how they'll vote yet, and 15 haven't responded. republicans have vowed to do everything they can to kill the health care bill. they say nothing, not even the new estimates on how much the bill will cut the deficit, will change their opinion of it. >> this is all built and premised upon some assumptions
