>> earlier today democratic leaders decided to abandon the controversial plan that would help the house avoid a direct vote. instead of using deem and pass, democratic sources tell cnn there would be an up-and-down vote on the $875 billion reform measure. the president is trying to win over two main groups -- the 37 democrats who voted against the bill theirst time around, and the 40 house democrats who voted for the measure only after strict restrictions on the abortion were added to the bill. those restrictions have been modified. the house will debate the bill tomorrow and then take a vote. democratic leader are still trying to round up the 216 votes for pass the bill. cnn's latest count says 31 democrats plan to vote against the legislation, 38 democratic "no" votes are needed to kill the bill. sources have told cnn that democrats have more than 200 yes

with the health care bill have gathered there. it's all part of a broad coalition of tea party organizations launching their final push. the code red tea party rallies are being coordinated across the u.s. and call for the termination of the current legislation. protesters plan a candlelight vigil around the capitol tonight. pope benedict xiv says he's currently sorry for the sexual abuse that was suffered. the pope's 18-page letter was made public today and is expected to be raid in churches across ireland tomoow. the country has been shaken by a recent government-backed reports that found the archdiocese of dublin and other authorities covered up child abuse by priests. a vatican spokesman says the pope wants priests who abuse children to face the consequences of their actions. >> the pope has also very strong

the union proposes a new plan that would change how the cabin crews operate. the strike will pick up again next weekend. the airline says it would use replacement workers to get about two thirds of their passengers to their destinations. the race is on to save some homes from floodwaters in north dakota here. folks in fargo are still filling and stacking sandbags. the waters are expected to rise another foot this weekend before cresting by tomorrow. construction of a clay dike was supposed to be finished this week, but there were a few problems. >> so you have a joint every six feet. those joints we believe started failing, and so we started getting water on the dry side of our levee system. >> we're kind of ground zero right out our back windows. >> more than a million sandbags have been tacked. to put that into perspective. it reached flood stage at just 18 feet.

and it's the rising crow river that's causing problems in parts of minnesota. local media report a bridge leading into downtown delano has been closed. the authorities are worried the strongful waters could wash out the bridge. a storm warning issued for the first day of spring. up to six inches of snow could fall. just yesterday it was 70 degrees in oklahoma city, but today the snow is causing problem at will rodgers world airport. several flights have been delayed by an hour or more, and continental airlines canceled all the departures for the day, along with some arrivals. best advice -- call ahead before heading to that airport. check out this video here, a shocking pedestrian accident caught on tape. the woman is okay, but wait until you hear what the driver did afterwards.

a woman crossing a street was hit by an suv, caut on a dash cam. we want to assure you, this woman is okay. as you can see tre, she was crossing the street in a crosswalk. what the video does not sw is the driver leaving the scene of the accident. a police officer saw the accident, and stopped to help the woman. >> i just remember crossing the street and saw a police car waiting, and i can't get up. my knee is swollen so bad. she needs to be arrested. she really needs to be arrested. >> by the way, the driver did get out of her vehicle, but once the officer began helping the victim, the dver got back in her suv and left. police are now looking for her.

another florida teenager has been arrested in a brutal beating of a 15-year-old girl. broward county deputies called her an accessor to the beating of jessie rattly. police say a 15-year-old boy not ratley knocked her down, then kicked her in the head with steel-toed boots. >> she's battered. she's controlled by machines. she can't respond to us. she's in a coma. >> authorities say her and the suspt had never met before the attack. they said instead a text messaging dispute may have been triggered the fight. a teenager has been connected in connection with a racial comments made over the intercom at a new jersey walmart. last sunday a voice came over the p.a. sim and announced

attention walmart customers, all black people leave the store. a manager quickly apologized. police say the 16-year-old boy they arrested yesterday is facing charges of harassment and bias intimidation. police say he's been released and handed over to his parents. >> africanized bees killed a dog. george williams was trimming trees in south florida, and got too close to the colony. his 70-pound dog socks took the brunt of the attack. >> one dog was covered bees. the other iot loose. it was all i could take to get out of there. i wound up naked running from the bees. those bees were trying to go into your eyes, ears, everywhere. >> there were more than 70,000 bees in that colony. a bee expert was called in to kill the hive.

his next goal is to walk across the grand canyon. nik wallenda comes from a long line of skywalkers. okay it's going to be a few more days before a south after kaj sculpting team finds out if it created the world's largest chocolate rabbit. their easter bunny is 12'5" tall and weighs more than three tons. it took three days to complete this. the sculpture will be on display until march 27th, then broken up into chocolate bits and distributed to local orphanages, just in time for easter. for a few weeks now trainers at seaworld in orlando haven't been in the water. an update on some of the other changes the amusement park has made since a killer whale killed a trainer after a show.

police in atlanta have arrested a 20 years old man who may have killed a teenager for his cell phone. broderick smith is charged with gunning down 19 years old anthony beavers wednesday ght. he refused to turn over his touch-screen phone. they say the two struggled and smith shot beavers. it hapned at a city train station. officials say it's the worst incident at one of the stations in fouyears. actresses demi moore and nia vardolas are credited with using their twitter accounts to help save the life of a suicidal teenager. moore and vardolas responded to messages to a young man threatening to hang himself in a front yard in florida.
