all right. casey anthony back in court to tell the judge -- and she neither the state of florida to pay for her defense. again she's accused ofilling her only daughter and dumping her body in the woods. so is the judge going to make taxpayers foot the bill? also finding out abc paid her $200,000? what about that? plus a dramatic call to 911, a mom goes into labor and her kids, a 9-year-old and 11-year-old have to come to her
6:01 pm
rescue. >> where did she go? are you in a different room? >> huh? >> are you in a different room from her right now? >> the baby's already here. >> how about that? but step by step, the 911 operator talks them through it. an 11-year-old even had to tie the umbilical cord. it could have been dangerous, but we have two heroes and a proud mom. i'm going to talk to the mom and the 911 operator. we love hearing from you. you can e-mail us, call in, you can join the conversation on facebook, or you can text us. just start your message with the word "prime." controversy, opinion, your point of view, this is "prime news." welcome once again. i'm mike galanos. casey anthony says she's broke. the problem, in less than two
6:02 pm
years, her attorneys have blown through nearly $300,000. today we finally learned where the bulk of that came from. >> $5,000 came from a donor, somebody who wanted to contribute t the defense, $200,000 came from the -- a deal that was done by my client with the american broadcast corporation. >> from where? >> abc. >> lfrt. so the question is, how was that money spent? two hundred grand in abc? and there's more money? we'll take your calls, comments and questions. we're going to talk about this. welcome back "in session" host ryan smith, and na tisha, that's
6:03 pm
one of the big headlines here, all this money. we heard jose baez say $200,000? how much are we talking here? >> reporter: there's also $5,000, and the last is $670,000 from former defense team member todd makaluso. he was under investigation for misappropriation of funds and we're now finding out that he has been ordered to become inactive as of april. >> so $275,000. how much have they spent? how much is documented that the dream team has spent so far? >> according to the defense they've spent all of it, because there's no money left in the casey anthony trust. what we don't know is where this money has gone to. what they're saying is it's gone to travel, transcripts, investigation, and things in order for casey anthony to have a good defense. also keep in mind, mike, they've had that casey anthony was
6:04 pm
willing to foot the bill for her defense before it became a death penalty case. then after that, those cases are a lot more expensive. >> when we talk about documented money, ryan, what we know of, jose baez has received over $89,000, andrea lyon, $22,000. we know of 275, so there's still 160,000 that's unaccounted for. doesn't the defense team have to show some receipts? >> they do. that's what the judge was talking about today. first the defense team got up and said, ahead, this is for costs. for us lawyers, these costs do add up on cases, so you know, there are travel costs, investigations costs, so the lawyers were hoping that would be enough at least at this stage. the judge made it very clear this needs to bei itemized, buti think they thought that conversation would be in private. >> let's listen to a new attorney and judge stan strickland as they talk about
6:05 pm
whose business is it that we know dollar for dollar, penny for penny, how much was spent and where? >> i can tell you there is no money and she is indigent. the lawyers are appearing pro bono. so therefore it's nobody's business. >> how money was spent in the past does have a bearing on what i intend to do. if they were giving x amount in the past and it's not well accounted for, why would i want to entrust them wh the public's money? >> great point. >> chen yes mason is saying we're talking about money going forward. why do you need to know how the money was spent in the past. he says, if you don't tell us thatwe see you spent it in an economical fashion, how are we supposed to know you'll do the same with the state's money in the future? >> tammy, your thoughts here? >> calle . >> caller: do you think we would get the state's money for an average person? she's a very high-profile case and getting all these, you know,
6:06 pm
high people, bowden and -- >> henry lee. you name it. that's a great question, ryan. people think, come on, if that's me in her shoes, i'm not getting the best of the best aroundhe country. i would be lucky to get an expert in florida itself. >> a great point. the defense will argue, first it's a death penalty case. she's in the public eye, yes, and if she doesn't have the top experts, everybody she needs, she will say i didn't have counsel provide me with the kind of defense i needed to get a fair trial. the other thing they may say is because i am a public figure and there's so much news, my burden is higher, there's more scrutiny, so i need the top experts, but rest assured, mike, the average person out there on death row will not get anywhere near what she will get for her trial. >> it just makes the blood boil with a lot of folks out there. we want to hear more from you. great question, by the way, tammy. we're going to talk, could more money come in?
6:07 pm
what aut movie deals? book deals? jose baez addressed that. >> do you have knowledge of there being any deal, any negotiations, any discussions whatsoever of any kind of a movie deal for this case? >> absolutely not.
6:08 pm
6:09 pm
welcome back to "prime news" on hln. casey anthony, her defense team trying to move she's indigent, so they want tax pargs to help foot the bill. we're hashing it out with our experts. how much does she deserve? yes, this is a high-profile case. some of you are mad thinking you wouldn't get the same defense.
6:10 pm
letty writes -- if the state is going to foot the bill, the dream team should be dissolved. will it be? carly ann writes this, shesht get some money for a defense. we're getting both sides there. nancy is with us on the phone from tennessee. what do you think? >> caller: i sure don't think that the state could pay for it. let her face what everybody else does, with these kinds of things. >> nancy, thanks. what does she deserve? >> mike, that's a good question. let's give you an example. there's a dna report that came out recently. mounds and mounds of paperwork explaining the dna reports. someone has to interpret it, and then someone has to determine what it means. all of these things cost money. it might be easy to say we don't want to pay any money, butn a sense for her to have a fair trial, when there's mounds of evidence, all these experts, she has to have the ability to defend herself. as much as you want to say let's
6:11 pm
cut her back, that will be the interesting question. and a lot of death penalty cases, mike, can be in the millions of dallas. >> natisha, let's hit on letty's point. why do you have to have the best of the best? could the dream team be dissolved here? >> i don't think the dream team will be dissolved here, mike. all of the defense team is wokking pro bono, even some of the experts are working pro bono. the judge did lay out that there is a cap on these experts. so, i mean, they are aware of this cap. they know their experts cannot exceed that cap amount, so i think they're going to do what they need to do to make it work. >> before the break, natisha, jose baez alleged whether there's deals. has tlb ever been anything in the works we know of? >> in open court under oath, h says no deals, no commercialization of any kind. he did say he's received offers
6:12 pm
in the past, but they were very politely decline. >> last thing, ryan, natisha mentioned a cap. what does that mean is it a cap on an expert. let's say henry lee, he has a charge for travel, is that within the cap range? how do they figure how much taxpayers will have to spend? >> i think i'm safe in saying his fee is probably two, three, even four times what the cap might be. but the defense will still fight each and every cap. they will say we need our expert. not an experience that might be in florida, but in order to put on, again, you go back to this fair trial notion, they want to put on the best possible trial they can. >> great work, guys, ryan, natisha, always good to talk with you. a teen girl brutally attacked, this is at the same school where michael brewer was severely burned by classmates. now we have a 15-year-old girl
6:13 pm
being started off after being allegedly attacked by another 15 years old? what's going on with our hits are kids? call in. plus this -- a pregnant woman caught by surprise. husband's at work, who has to come to her aid? her 9-year-old and 11-year-old kids. >> my mom said to call 911. the phone operator started asking me a bunch of questions i didn't understand. >> that little guy did the best he could. then his 11-year-old sister, that young lady right there, she is special. wait until you hear how she handled the situation. i'm going to talk to mom, 911 operator as we celebrate this incredible story.
6:14 pm
6:15 pm
6:16 pm
some of our kids are getting bullied. here's an attack that will turn your stomach, young girl beaten
6:17 pm
to the point of near death in deerfield beach, florida. there have been two serious cases. first one we told you about, involves a 15 years old boy accused of brutally attacking an eighth gde girl. she's in critical condition. here's andre hopki from our affiliate. >> it was painful, just tsee all the blood gushing out of her head. it was nasty. >> reporter: sexton spencer is among th bunch of students who saw a 15 years old boy from offcampus brutally beat down a 14 years old girl. >> he came out and slammed this girl's head into the concrete, and he did it repeatedly, then started kicking her and punching her in the neck. >> reporter: the sheriff's office says it broke out just before 3:00 on wednesday. >> they weren't trying to encourage it, but they weren't trying to stop it. >> reporter: broward air rescue took the girl to the medical
6:18 pm
center with critical injuries. >> the girl was just standing there, and the guy ran up and like pushed her and banged her head. >> reporter: like where? >> he banged her head, then started stomping on her. >> again, andre hepkins from wsvn. this is the same school that we reported a lot about, a boy that was doused with rubbing alcohol, set on fire. what is going on with the kids there? joining me to talk about this, as we're going to get back to the beating first. mike brooks is with us as well, 26 years in laws enforcement. mike, you have to be scratching your head as well. first off, how is the victim doing here? >> she is still in what's being described as very critical condition. really that pretty much sums it
6:19 pm
up. still in the hospital, still has lots of folks hoping and wishing and praying for her. >> has her family spoken out? are they pretty much in grief right now? >> i would say definitely still in shock. obviously this is something no parent can prepare for. i saw them briefly today. they're very polite, but declined to speak, and i certainly understand that feeling. >> definitely. why, diana? what do we know about motive here? >> a little a bit complicated, actually. but i do my best to sum this up, which is to say the attacker, and bear with me, because we got new details within an hour from our sheriff here, the attacker was trying to reach another girl, a 13-year-old girl, and so he sent a text message to the victim, because the 13-year-old doesn't have her own cell phone, she would borrow a friend's, so he sends a text message to the
6:20 pm
victim trying to reach the 13-year-old. our victim, josie, she gets the text message. she had disapproved of the relationship between the 15-year-old and the 13-year-old, so she tells him as much in a response text message, then the messages are going back and forth, back and forth, and finally josie says something to the attacker, again in a text message, this is all text messages, in regards to -- and we don't know exactly wt it said, but the attacker had an older brother who had committed suicide. she sends him a text message about that. again, don't know exactly what it said. at that point he was enraged. he got his boots, went to the middle school looking for josie. he actually sees the 13-year-old, the 13-year-old helps him find josie, and he proceeds to savagely attack her.
6:21 pm
it was incredibly brutal. you know, the sheriff couldn't believe what he was describing. it involved her head hitting the concrete multiple times, it involved him kicking her. it was completely brutal. >> okay. we've got the lowdown here. we're going to get mary jo in, mike as well. we'll take your calls on this. 1-877-tell-hln is the number. also this -- >> she said some things he apparently didn't like. he was home from school yesterday, jumped on his bicycle, and rode over to deerfield beach middle school, looking for her.

big mike -- >> ahead, my name is lee an tuoy, my kids go to wingate. you said you were going to the gym. the school gym's closed. why were you going to the gym? big mike, why were you going to the gym? >> because it's warm. >> do you have any place to stay tonight? don't you dare lie to me. >> that's sandra bullock in her
6:31 pm
academy award winning performance in "the blind side." she definitely is america's sweetheart after that role, if she wasn't before. and there's shocksthat- there are published reports that her husband had an afarad. people.com says she moved out hoe and canceled an appearance in london. you know, youake a look at some of these shots. they loo to be such a happy couple. just last weekend, about a week and a half ago at the osca, she praises him, he tears up, then we get this statement from jesse james issued to "people." he says it's because of my poor judgnt that i deserve everything bad coming my way. and i am extremitily saddened to have brought this on to them. i am truly sorry for the grief i have caused and i hope one day
6:32 pm
they can find it intheir hearts to forgive me. stephen a. mide, and senior editor from "in touch." kim, what are the allegations here? it looks like you have been all over this story. >> that's right. "in touch" spoke to mish bombshell mcghee, and she came forward to say she had this relationship with jesse. she told "in touch" she had sent a message to jesse, wanted to be a friend of his, was looking for a model been job. he sent his personal e-mail, and it developed into an 11-month relationship with five weeks of a ry intimate relationship. >> right out of the gate they're hot and heavy? >> that's what she tells "in touch." she said she didn't realized he was still married. shsays he got the impression that he was separated. >> okay. hln, we have not been ae to
6:33 pm
independently confirm some of these reports, but they say they've talked to the lady in question, michelle "the bombshell" mcghee is her name. >> she's a tattoo model. she's obviously more edgy than sandra. she likes motorcycles, and she told "in touch" that maybe they had more in common, because obviously sandra is the girl next door. she's this person we've loved since we saw her in "speed," "miss conjeanality." obviously we watched her through award season, so many people making this transition to this role, and i think that's why it makes it such a sad, sad story. >> steven, you have worked with celebrities, and again, this has not been confirmed, we haven't heard from sandra bullock yet, but what is she going through right now? what's the likelihood that they can hold it telling? >> well, th's going to be the question.
6:34 pm
the question is going to be, can she hold it together, does she want to hold it together? this is obviously a very dramatic and traumatic situation for her. she's got to get heeled o herself and figure out if this is a marriage worst saving. >> has there been any word yet from her camp? >> no, i mean, i think as you mentioned, she did pull t of th premiere in london next week. there are some repters saying she had moved out of the house and of course most recently just a couple hours ago, the statement from jesse where he' apologizing for causing pain and embarrassment. he doesn't get into specifics, but did s what e you read earlier. >> why is she coming forward, the alleged mistress? what's her motive? >> "in touch" did a lot of great porting again she said she didn't realize that jesse was ill married. it wasn't until they met at a tattoo convention at the queen mary, they ran into mutual
6:35 pm
friends. >> did she have proof? photos? text messages? e-mails? anything? >> there are text messages she has provided to "in touch" that she says are as recent as march 14th, where he says he was thinking about her. >> okay. steven, what about the text messages here? is that enough to prove infidelity? if things good really bad an they get a divorce, is that coming in? >> that's not going to come in. the issue of fidelity will not come in in the family law case. i think the key issue will be for sandra trying to get everything together with regard to making sure he property stays to her and support issues go the direction she wants. so text messagesare going to be irrelevant. >> what about his three children, a reasonhe has custody, one of the main reasons, is sandra bullock's influence, helping to provide a stable home. they split up, what happens to the kids? >> i've got to tell you, that's going to be a big problem for
6:36 pm
him in his own custody case. obviously sandra, who was his best witness, suddenly becomes his biggest adversaries. >> it's sad to hear these allegations when you think of sandra bullock, on top of the world after winning an academy award. steve and kim, thanks so much. we have a programming note for you here. joslyn james, one of the tiger woods' alleged mistresses, former important star, will be on "issues" for an exclusive interview. her real name is remember ron kay siwit-daniels. today she posted 120 text messages online that she says tiger send her, so why is she posting them now? jane will ask her that. don't miss it. coming up, this will turn your stomach. a man accused of pitching his own wife, selling her for sex on the internet on craigslist.
6:37 pm
>> we have a husband who's prostituting his wife out around the country while holding their 3-year-old child, threatening the wife if she doesn't go forward with is, then he will take the child away from her and harm her. >> weet get more from that man about what control cops say he had over his wife. again you're not going to believe what you're about to hear.
6:38 pm
6:39 pm
6:40 pm
john edwards' wife elizabeth is firing back at rielle hunter. according to "people," she says she's disgusted by the photos, one of those photos, there it is, she had nothing but a shirt on cozying up to stuffed animals. they were taken in an interview.
6:41 pm
she is says she's not a home wrecker, andhe says the break in the marriage happens bfore the infidelity. so the home was already wrecked. i'm not the home wrecker. great, a jab at elizabeth edwards who has terminal cancer. a close friend of john edwards says despite what she says in the interview, the idea that they're going to end off together is, quote, total fantasy. a husband is accused of selling his wife for sex on the internet this all began when she was pregnant with their child. she reached out for help. thankfully he was arrested on the weekend. the sheriff tom dart was in on this. he eastern filed a lawsuit
6:42 pm
against craigslist. back with us is mary jo rapini. tom, i'll start with you. nice work, just a horrifi story here. so how did he force his wife into rostitution? how did this go down? >> mike, this one is -- like i say, it's hard to say this is the worst or this is the worst. but this is bad, bad stuff. he met her at a very young age. she gets pregnant, and he marries her and almost literally from the start he starts forcing her in prostitution, sending her around the country. he was using craigslist and other internet sites as well to put up adding. he would set the dates up and say, honey, someone's coming here in an hour, and take care of them. she would get the money and she would put it inn atm account for him. when she would try to take off, he would threaten her of taking
6:43 pm
the child away. threaten physical violence. this is bad stuff. >> tom, what kind of ad is he putting on craigslist? i thought craigslist was going to monitor this stuff. >> this is trickier. he used multiple different -- multiple sites, in addition to craigslist, a place called erotic review as well. you know, we've been making arrests every week, so, you know, i don't know what the heck they're doing, i don't know what they're selling people as far as how they've cleaned things up, but i'm still dying to have that conversation with them, where there's a certain level of sincerity and they're saying we do want this to get cleaned up. help us doing it, whatever we can do as a team, let's do it, but that would have happened two years ago. >> mary jo, from what we gather, when they met, shewas 17, he's
6:44 pm
a counselor at a church, so it sounds like he's preying on her. and how does someone do that? your pgnant wife, you're going to prostitute her on the internet? >> this guy is a convict. i was listening to what you're saying about craigslist. part of the reasons they're a convict is they're dishonest. they can use any loophole. i cannot believe this girl's father, first of all, was okay with a 17-year-old and a 32-year-old. and, you know, the churches are a great place for these pedophiles and these, you know, predators to hide out, because they're always around young people. they like young people, because young people do not intimidate them. they use their experience and use the way they are to seduce people. he seduced this woman. he's abusive. tom. >> what's the charge here? pandering? >> yeah, pandering charges for
6:45 pm
now, which is a css 4 felony in the state. we've got him on $150,000 bond. there's been reviews, we've been working hand in hand with the state's attorney office here for. but for right now it's pandering charges for sure. >> again, good work, tom. >> mare,jo, thanks. >> she was really courageous. >> to finally reach out for help. i wis we had more time. thanks so much. coming up, a story i think we can all celebrate. a mom's egnant, didn't even know she went into labor. who does she have to lean on? her husband is at work. her two kids have to help out, an 11-year-old and 9-year-old. things happen so fast. i'm going to talk to mom who's okay and the 911 operator who's a hero as well in this. ed ongoing legal btle of
