released in the coming days. michael as you may know has been back in the spotlight in the recent weeks as a contestant on "schlecht apprentice." when will it ever end? that is what lindsay lohan tweeted after another very public fight with her father. last week her dad, michael lohan persuaded a sheriff's deputy to help him enter lindsey's los angeles home. he says he wanted to check on the welfare of lindsay's 16-year-old sister who was staying with her. listen to what heed that to say to our jane velez-mitchell on "issues." >> what problem do you feel your daughter lindsay has? let's talk about the big elephant in the room, and what are you afraid of? >> what i'm afraid of -- listen, i'm not knocking the treatment that she says she went to already. but when people with addiction problems go into a treatment center, i don't think they should go in without being on prescription drugs and come out being on prescription drugs. every time lindsay went to a rehab, they put her on more and more prescription drugs. she's got a major problem with
5:10 pm
prescription drugs now. and we know that when you mix it with alcohol and other elicit drugs or illegal drugs you have a toxic combination there. >> lindsay has said that she has abused substances in the past but says she has since learned to embrace life instead of drugs. it has been 40 years since the first earth day. it begs the question how green are you? well, we took that question to the street. >> i'm joe carter, and this is hln's "views from the street." it's earth day. how important is going green to you? are you guys environmentalists? are you aware of earth day? >> yeah, i'm aware. they always do a birthday celebration on campus. >> have you ever participated in earth day? >> i'm always happy earth day, but i don't know that i could talk extensively about it. >> i didn't even know it was an earth day. >> every earth day for the past six years i've planted two trees each year.
5:11 pm
>> what do you do on a day-to-day basis to be a greener person? >> i don't know. >> every time you leave a room, lights out. >> we recycle and we also have eco-friendly cleaners, household cleaners. >> don't leave tvs on or plugs plugged in for no reason. >> i don't litter. i drive a hybrid. i'm a big recycler. and i use biodegradable products. >> just one water ball all the time. >> try to eat more sustainable food. >> try to conserve water, but it's hard with kids. >> i don't really anything that is real green or real earthy. >> how important is protecting the environment to you? >> it's real important. probably one of my top priorities. we're really trashing it. >> more people are going green. but i think there is more people on this earth that are not green. >> because people don't see immediate results, they tend to get on the bandwagon and then jump off the bandwagon. >> i think it's important for everybody to be a little more
5:12 pm
green. it just makes everything better for everyone. >> people like me need to step their game up. the negative effects that not being green has affects all of us. and we only have one world. >> just a few cans can make a big difference. >> i'm joe carter, and i'll see you on "the street." >> actually, you'll see him before that. we managed to coax joe in from off the street. hey there. >> good to see you. >> you talked to a lot of people. some didn't make the tape. what is your sense of how serious they are about the environment? >> after talking to people on the street, there is the do's and there is the don't's. and the ones that do have it fit into their day to day routine and they surround themselves with people that also do good things for the environment. and then you get the people that just don't. it's not that they don't want to help the environment, they feel like they can't fit it into their everyday routine. that's why the united states, according to a new environmental survey, ranks 61st out of 163 countries, which is very, very surprise when you think about a country that so green and hybrids and all this stuff.
5:13 pm
>> right. >> right. we're such a leader in so many things, but clearly not in this. what do you think it would take to get those who aren't participating to go greener? >> i think the first thing people need to realize is when you do things that are conserving for environment, you're also going to save a little money in the long run. it may not be a lot of money, but it's going to be enough to incentivize you. for me i unplug the cell phone charger when i'm not charging the cell phone, take a shorter shower, recycle, recycle, recycle. every little bit counts. just start somewhere and build it big as the process goes along. >> that's a good way to go. you start snow and it it's like a snowball. we want to find out what our viewers think about this. the question today, do you think america has fallen behind as joe has said we have. why do you think that's true when it comes to protecting the environment? log on to cnn.com/hln and we'll be checking out your views a little later. delivery room tragedy left a

galanos of hln's prime news. >> first of all, i want to know, ryan, you've worked for the nfl. is this what you expected? >> well, i -- i will tell you what i thought might be appropriate, which was eight games. i am not surprised he got six. and that actually fits with the way the nfl usually does things. because in these cases in the past, things like this, these kind of bigger penalties they want to give out from the commissioner, it's usually around four games. so to give him six, it shows that roger goodell sees this as being a very extreme situation so, he is going to give out a harsh penalty. for nfl this is a harsh penalty. >> are you satisfied with this? do you think this is right? >> i said on my program i thought it was going to be four with conditions of two. i think end up being four after ben roethlisberger fulfills conditions. they'll monitor his behavior. yes, i think they got it right. four games, that's a quarter of the season for one of the best quarterbacks in the nfl. and we'll see if is still a steeler after this is all said

a california court will soon decide on a very emotional question, does a brain-damaged woman have a right to see her young children? in 2006 abbie dorn gave birth to triplets, but she had complications during delivery and was left brain damaged, unable to speak or move. a year after it happened, her husband dan told her parents he wanted a divorce. they agreed to it. today dan lives with the children, who will be four in june. his lawyer says his client is worried the kids would be traumatized if they knew their births led to their mom's condition. >> it is not his goal to keep the children away from her. he believes it's his right to make the decision, and when it's age appropriate where they can understand the horrible tragedy, he'll be the first one on a plane to take them to see her mother. >> dan dorn's lawyer says his ex-wife is legally incapable of making decisions about her kids, and that is based on a 2007 report in which a neurologist described abbie dorn's condition

some unusual developments last week in the search for haleigh cummings. the florida sheriff leading the investigation called a news conference to report investigators had not found the missing girl's body. appearing on hln's "nancy grace" show, the medical examiner talked about haleigh's family preparing for a funeral without haleigh's family. >> i never heard in my quite long career that the police who do such a thing or enforcement would inform the family to prepare for a burial before a body or parts of the body of the deceased were found. so if they did not misspoke, then definitely they have to have some -- recovered some part of the body or some bones, which they should have verified that it belongs to the deceased. otherwise it's totally improper. >> ronald cummings' ex-wife misty croslin was the last person to see the little girl at
