help. linda? >> reporter: police found her car. they've even found signals on her cell phone. the disappearance of michelle remains a mystery. the last place friends and classmates saw michelle le. friday night she was in a nursing class in kaiser medical center in haywood. the plan was to leave. the friend who was waiting for her says le never showed up. investigators know she parked her car in the garage next to the medical center. they found her honda 2010 honda crx. police are getting a warrant to search the car. >> nothing necessarily points to foul play from the outside of the vehicle. we obviously want to go to the inside of the vehicle and check for papers for receipts, for notes or directions or anything at all that may lead us to michelle and to where she might

be. >> investigators did track the cell phone to towers in fremont, and oakland. she hasn't picked up any calls. there's no new signals since early today. le lives in san mateo with a roommate. police say she has family members in san jose. >> we're interviewing people and trying to identify who currently is in her life. both friends, boyfriends -- none of those things come to light yet. >> the case is similar to another case involving a missing nursing student. fong le went missing in 2010 in fairfield. her body turned up in rural napa county. >> and there are similarities, i understand that. i don't believe we're heading in that direction, that necessarily links the two. >> while tonight, hayward police say they are looking at every possible scenario. tonight, they can also be thinking about the possibility,

anne, that she may have left on her own accord. >> linda ye, thank you very much. police are investigating the murder of a mother of five. she was found shot to death inside her mercedes in the 4,000 block of amber way at 10:30. a 20-year-old man police suspect was shot at the same time showed up at the hospital a short time later. no names are being released. police say witnesses have not been cooperative. two more homicides this weekend pushed san jose's murder rate past the rate of all of last year. in the first five months. 2011, there were 22 homicides. parole record for the man held in connection with the beating of brian stow didn't include descriptions of his tattoos. they then report, he was ab -- information was absent in the database. if they were there, it would have helped identify general

nova ramirez. it was a tip that led to the break in the 2-year-old case. police say they are confident he will be caught. controversial memorial for the victims of the jones town massacre was unveiled in oakland. they paid tribute to the 918 people who died. what's controversial, the memorial includes a memorial leader. he ordered followers to commit suicide. the relatives, keep jones' name off the memorial but a judge rejected it. >> i forgave him years ago. that's what contributed to my hearing. i had to forgive him. you cannot heal if there's no forgiveness. >> the woman who filed the first lawsuit is not giving up. she plans to file another one to erase jones from the memorial. and it has been one week since the killer tornado in joplin. tonight, the city raised the

death toll to 139. 39 members are still missing. president obama went back tonight after touring the area. how he offered hope and healing? president obama walked through the rubble in joplin on sunday consoling survivors and promising help as they rebuild. >> this is just not your tragedy. this is a national tragedy and that means there will be a national response. >> the president later attended the city's memorial service. he vowed the nation would stand by the people of joplin. >> the cameras may leave, the spotlight may shift but we will be with you every step of the way until joplin is restored and the community is back on its feet. we are not going anywhere. >> the service began and ended with a prayer offered by father justin monhan. he took shelter in his bathtub

when the tornado struck. >> father mannyhan. >> saint mary's may have been destroyed but his members are strong. >> he says the church will be rebuilt along the metal cross that's left standing. >> the tornado had a stronger path of destruction. initially they said it caused a 6-mile swath of damage. it is actually double. 12 miles and the tornado moved east. a mile away, you see the first downed power lines and damaged homes. then the destruction just got worst. the hospital actually destroyed by the tornado is starting to see patients again. now at a different site, st. john's medical center opened a temporarily medical hospital. its name, st. john's mercy
