she was last seen. but they refuses to lose hope. today the family of missing student michelle lee continued their search in heyward. we report on the man with the unique insight into their grief now aiding the lee family. >> reporter: the family is not giving up. today, they passed out more flyers, still hoping michelle lee is alive even if heyward police announced the missing person case has turned into a homicide investigation. >> we don't have any proof that she's pathed on. so -- passed on. so to me, she's alive somewhere. >> reporter: and on the family's side, mark class whose own daughter was kip napped and murdered back in 1993 in petaluma. >> although they said that the case has been reclassified as a homicide, what's that based on? we don't know what it's based on and they don't a body certainly. so as far as anybody really knows, there's a young lay day out there someplace who's desperate to be recovered and

brought back home. >> reporter: class lent his experience to the family. now le's friends and family are back in the heyward neighborhood where her car was found the night she disappeared. >> going door to door, asking people more detailed questions. mark class helped us base on some questions to ask. we're going to ask you know, if they've seen here and seen her car and anything suspicious. maybe if they have any video or surveillance of the area. that possibly the police have missed. anything like that that could hopefully uncover new leads to help find her. >> reporter: last friday, police teams searched a 30 square mile area including niles canyon for le's body. they found nothing and no evidence either le's cousin says they are hanging on to hope she is live. it's all they have. >> i don't think anyone's really prepared for the worst. especiallily when you love someone is. i will say that the family all

california girl has beat some incredible odds. she is recovering from rabies, an 8-year-old northern california girl beat uncredible odds. she's recovering from rabies, something most people don't survive. angel car denas has the story. >> reporter: active in sports, loves playing with her friends and hanging out with her dog, copper. but just last month, it all came to a stop. >> and she got up and went to go into the bathroom and her legs just went out on her. >> reporter: after being scratched by a feral. precious became infected with rabies. >> i said this is no flu, there's something wrong. >> precious came to us in a very critical ill condition. she's not breathing on her own. >> reporter: with only two to

nine cases reported in the u.s. each year, high mortality rate. dr. votten was not very optimistic at first. >> when we found out that it was rabies, we knew that it was very critical. and in contacting our other specialists around the nation, we found out the mortality rate was probably 95% to 98%. >> in fact, i can do -- [ indiscernible ] because my throat. >> reporter: well, in the icu, precious' treatment plan has proved to be a promising very rare recovery. >> she progressed very quickly. we are able to get the breathing tube out. she started the eat on her own. she sat up and started the talk. we got to see her smile. >> i'm feeling good. >> going from nothing to no movement to out running is you know -- it's undescribable.

>> reporter: a fighter on the mat and a fighter in life. the spunky energetic little girl understands life for her and her family is simply precious. >> i want to go back home and play with copper. >> well, that was angel cardenas reporting. every year, only 30 cases of human rabies are reported worldwide. well, these are the first public images of gabrielle giffords since she was shot in january. today, the office tweeted two pictures on the facebook page and they were taken nearly a month ago in houston. giffords and her husband decided to release the photos to show just how far she's come in her recovery. the congresswoman could be released later the month. lieutenant governor gavin newsom welcomed a baby boy into the family today. the baby was born in san francisco at 9:18 a.m. hunter newsome is 20.5-inches

long and weighs 8 pounds 4 ounces, he has an older sister, montana. she's 20 months old. erica martin joining us now with a look at the forecast. hi erica. >> hi ann, conditions for tonight, we're seeing mostly clear skies, all around, but breezy conditions and that's because we have warmer temperatures along the land. in comparison to the temperatures along the ocean surface. as we take a look at what we can expect for tonight, temperatures still trending rather cool, but warmer than we did feel last night. santa rosa. 42 and vallejo, 54 degrees. tomorrow, here's the high pressure system that i've been talking about and promising mother nature did deliver. it's coming along the coast here and we will see warm and sunny conditions for tomorrow through wednesday. here's a really good look at the satellite image. we can see the high pressure system building nicely. but what we can expect a little bit of a.m. fog for the coastal areas and that has to do with the fact that we're going to see moisture that's going to be

trapped underneath the high pressure system. so ann, fog for the morning hours and the coast. but temperatures looking pretty good all around. low 60s to high 80s. a look at what we can expect as far as the highs go. 71 for san mateo. sunnyvale and cupertino. 77 degrees, in the east bay. walnut creek, 84. brentwood. 89 degrees and conditions are starting to warm up nicely. petaluma. 80. steinson beach, 66 degrees, the pollen report. i wanted to add that in there because we have very high pollen count for grasses, medium the high for trees and we may feel some itchy eyes and sneezing, but our extended forecast, we've got some very warm conditions on tap. low or mid 60s to high 80s by tomorrow. we've got high 60s into the 90s for tuesday. and that's going to trend through wednesday. then we're going to see a low
