of a terror warning and what homeland secretary. >> good evening, i'm ann notarangelo. the building has been red- tagged and investigators prepare to search for the source of the blast that killed 56-year-old adrian martin. how the man's family plans to carry on. >> reporter: there are red tags on all the door of this menlo park building and will remain through the holiday weekend an indication of the unknown extent of the damage from an explosion here friday afternoon. >> a very big boom, just one single boom. >> reporter: the blast came reportedly as researcher adrian martin mixed three gases, methane, hemmum and hiden. one of the tanks ruptured according to menlo park chief, killing martin and tossing a female scientist into an adjacent corridor. >> she was almost blown out

getting? some relief after a severe soaking from tropical storm lee. earlier 60 miles per hour winds pounded the boat against a pier in mississippi. at this hour the storm is stalled along the louisiana coast and it's still dumping rain. drew levinson on how this labor day weekend appears to be a washout. >> reporter: some drivers trade their steering wheels for paddle as tropical storm lee flooded parts of the louisiana coast. the tiny town of lafitte was hit hard. emergency crews ordered people to head for higher ground, but not everyone left. >> i was born and raised in this area and it's my home. >> reporter: the storm surge is pushing water from the bayou into town. there is no levee system to pump water from the streets. >> this one is of the main reasons we have been advocating for a levee system here, because you have constant flooding and it's going to

father died, that funny guy could who could imitate almost anyone the living memorial was launched by a social worker, who founded the group "voices of september 11th." >> i think it's a healing process, an emotional process, but it's also an historical record of the lives that were lost that day. >> reporter: one of those lives was brad, the oldest of mary's three sons a standout athlete and big brother. >> he had an incredible smile. he was very outgoing, but understated. he was really a role-model for the boys. >> reporter: just 24 years old, brad worked for the financial firm keefe, bruyette & woods on the 9th floor of the world trade organization south tower and he called his parents after the north tower was attacked. >> hey mom, it's brad. a plane crashed into world

trade center 1. >> he was i think shaken, because he had seen someone fall from the 90th floor all the way down. >> i'm not sure if is goes to shut down for the day or what. but give me a call back later. i called dad to let him know. love you. >> reporter: brad was in the same office as joe. after joe had called her earlier, she turned on the tv. >> i saw the plane go into his tower and i knew where it was on the tower. i knew where his office was and i just knew it was over. >> reporter: ten years later they are one of 1100 families to submit photos and writings for the living memorial. the 9-11 memorial at ground- zero has asked for the whole collection. family members remembering how their loved ones lived more

des moines. the flames of a burning suv to rescue injured teenagers. of the four girls inside, only the driver didn't make it, but officers were able to free two girls from that wreckage. the third was thrown clear during the collision. meteorologist jim bernard joining us now with a look at our three-day weekend. not so bad? >> not so bad. toilally this is the last fling of summer and our cool summer weather pattern looks like it's going to continue for the holiday break as we see temperatures near or below seasonal norms. we did see some cooling with the morning low cloud cover giving way foo mostly sunny skies across the region. temperaturewise, upper 70s to low 90s. back into the upper 70s for the north bay. they cooled significantly today. upper 60s into the mid-80s across the east bay hills and back into the low to mid-60s at the peninsula and the coast here. mostly foggy coast side today

and we can expect that again tomorrow as temperatures remain on the cooler than normal side, but barely. a lot of fog moved in overnight and backed up to give us our morning sunshine here for most locations. we're looking at mostly cloudy skies across the region. temperatures in the mid to upper 50s. around the bay this evening and for tomorrow, we'll see the clouds clear, nor another warmish day across the interior, where they are looking at upper 80s to low 90s and cooler as a head back to the water we'll continue this cool pattern into the beginning of the week of the we should see a bit of a bump as this clears the area on monday. that will leave us with a little mixing in the atmosphere and slightly warmer temperatures through the beginning of the week and the cooloff again by midweek. we'll look for mid to upper 80s to low 90s for tomorrow across the interior back to the east bay, mid to upper 70s and on the peninsula we can expect mid to upper-60s with upper 50s to

low 60s at the coast. upper 70s to low 80s again low clouds giver way to mostly sunny skies through the day. we'll look for that little bump in temperatures here early in the week, but as you can see by the end of the week, we cool it down again and bring in actually a slight chance of showers in the north bay, which is a pretty good indicator of seasonal change. it is that tame of year and you may be able to feel the difference, but we're cooling off overnight hours as well as the daytime hours. it's been a pretty cool summer for us, but already we're looking at the chance of showers. a slim one, but just the fact that we're even talking about it is amazing. >> not yet, okay? >> we can hold off and pretend. >> thank you, jim. a milestone for the bay area's clipper card and saving money with a vengeance. >> with the economy the way that it is, if you are not saving a buck i'm going to be saving it. >> how far some people will go
