it's growing. who s supporting t it's the move that's occupying a nation from coast to coast, and it's growing. who's supporting the movement now? a number of bills signed into law this weekend on everything from tanning to college admissions. how parents of children with autism stand to benefit. >> i grew up in oakland, so i felt like i needed to be here today for a little while. the heavy hearts of the raider nation as the team plays for the first time in four decades without al davis. good evening. i'm ann notarangelo. it is the issue that is gaining supporters and a lot of high- ranking attention, the momentum behind the occupy wall street movement appears to be getting stronger every day. but will protesters get the results they want? linda joins us now. >> reporter: ann this growing movement is getting the attention of veterans of the civil rights movement including ambassador andrew young.

he says the protesters have to be articulate and organized to change the political climate. others say at least their frustrations are getting a voice. in san jose, several dozen continue the occupation of city hall. 50 to 60 demonstrators occupy the sidewalk by the federal reserve bank in san francisco. they are the lower and middle class, the out of work, the people who lost their homes, all protesting wall street, to them the symbol of wealth and greed. but overnight in sacramento a different story. >> i here by declare this to be an unlawful assembly. >> reporter: occupation at cesar chavez park is allowed, but only during regular hours. but like the tea party movement, can occupy wall street be successful? >> what i think is significant is that it's opening up a space to talk about solutions,

because while this is a protest, they have yet to come up with -- to solidify around clear demands. but it makes us think about, what are the solutions? >> reporter: the protests continue to grow in cities nationwide. but it is not being received well by at least one republican presidential candidate. >> it's not the america we know. it's basically class war fear. some of them are there because they don't have a job, yes, but the fact of the matter is, why aren't there jobs? go and picket the white house. demonstrate in front of the white house. >> when we said everyone should pay their fair share, the other side said, that's class warfare. no, it's not. it's the most endearing american value, fairness. it's about everyone paying their fair share. >> well, call it class warfare or americans exercising their right to be heard, but occupy

wall street has now grown to 25 cities nationwide. that's a lot of voices. ann. >> linda, thank you. as linda just said the movement began 23 days ago on wall street and it is not slowing down. protesters have gathered in cities such as atlanta, chicago, and seattle, and now their protests are expanding to protest other issues including unemployment, the war unafghanistan -- the war in afghanistan, and the environment. it's happened again, a pedestrian was hit and killed by a train just blocks from the martinez station. amtrak says the victim was trespassing on the tracks. more than 100 passengers were aboard at the time. no one on the train was hurt. they were transferred to another train and continued on their journey.

san jose police are searching for the person who shot two people saturday morning in a residential neighborhood. it happened in an alley near south third street. the victims were a 19-year-old man and a 20-year-old woman. police are still trying to determine a motive. late tonight san jose police confirmed the woman has now died. the male victim died at the scene. san jose now has had 36 homicides this year. san mateo police are searching for a gunman following an armed robbery at petsmart. police say about 8:00 a man entered the store and demanded cash. customers were still in the store at the time. the man took the money and fired several shots. the clerk was not injured. he was injured, but not seriously. no customers were hurt. thousands of fish are loose in the bay tonight, and they aren't supposed to be there, at least not yet.

>> reporter: brendan halsey looks over the empty pins where he and others worked on their project. >> you see them eat, grow, then eventually you see them leave and go out into the waters. it's nice to see. >> reporter: but he and his fellow students were disappointed when vandals sabotaged the project. first they set free the fish, now there's not even one baby salmon for the celebratory release the students planned. >> i felt like we were helping and making a difference. >> reporter: now how do you feel? >> i'm really like upset and disappointed. i wish that they hadn't done. that. >> reporter: web posting suggests that it may have been an action by animal rights activists.

if it was, the activists fail to understand what the students are trying to do. >> they were spawned, they were brought to life by these kids, they were cared for, they were brought to us, they were cared for by our community, and they were released by some people that are simply callus. >> reporter: where do you go from here? >> well, we still have the kids. we still have the program. we're asking for donations for -- we're obviously going to have to put in a security system. >> reporter: too late for this year, but the program will continue. brook halsey defends the program pointing out that thousands of kids and millions of salmon have passed through. he says kids and salmon populations are both better for it. governor brown is going through a stack of bills before a midnight deadline. he's signed three new house

bills. among them, teens and tanning beds. california is now the first state to make it illegal for teenagers under 18 to use the beds. currentlily teens 15 through 17 can use tanning beds with their parents' permission, but that will end. it's already illegal for children 14 and under to use them. health insurance companies must now provide coverage for children with autism or other developmental problems. despite concerns about its costs, governor brown signed the bill today. those against it say it will increase insurance premiums by millions of dollars. supporters argue it will ultimately save money by helping prepare autistic children for life as adults. on saturday the governor vetoed an affirmative action- like bill that would have allowed public universities to consider race, gender, and ethnicity in the admissions process. sb-15 gained public attention when republicans held a bake sale to protest the bit.

currently california admissions officers are unable to consider ray, gender, and ethnicity because of prop 209 passed in 1996. sb-185 would have modified this. today the raiders took to the field for the first game since their team owner al davis died. and they did what davis always told them to do. "just win baby." >> throws, intercepted, it's over! after the passing of al davis yesterday, "just win baby" lives for the raiders. >> and it was an emotional victory for the team, the coach and others breaking down in tears. as for the fans, we'll see how the raider nation is coping with the loss of their leader. >>ly al davis, owner of the oakland raiders. >> this is what it's about. this is what the raider nation is about. they've come out here to remember mr. davis. >> this is known as the place

mormon faith. >> i am not going to do analysis of mormonism versus christianity. >> i think that none of us should sit in judgment on somebody else's religion. >> reporter: it surfaced this weekend at the value voters summit. the candidates didn't say it, but some of the participants characterized the religion as being outside the mainstream -- a cult. some evangelicals say they don't believe mormons are christians. >> to make this a big issue is just ridiculous right now, because every day i'm on the street talking to people. this is not what people are talking about. >> reporter: but people on the street are talking about how religion could affect presidential decisions. >> christianity is a big part of pie life, and that's why the country was founded, so it would make a difference to a point. >> who knows, i think we should just stick with the person that can run this country the best. >> reporter: in 2008 romney's rivals painted him as a flip- flopper on issues such as abortion and gay rights and

north. then after that we can expect a warmer week ahead. first let's deal with the rain headed our way. taking a look at today's highs we see those mid to upper 70s in the northeast and south bay. mid to low 70s for our highs. lovely fall weather with the exception of that finker of fog that showed up about 3:30. we see most of the fog dissipated early this morning and left with us lots of sunshine, except, as mentioned, for the airshow, which was affected by that. we do see this weakening cold front moving into the area with some mid and upper level clouds across the area. that will spread from north to south tomorrow. a chance of rain mainly in the north bay as this columbus day frontal system comes through the region with more clouds than that chance of showers across the bay area. but by tuesday we'll look for the high pressure system to move back from the south and build and hold through the remainder of the week.

for sunny and warmer conditions through the weekend. well, into the weekend. maybe not through it. here we see the clouds moving in tonight. a chance of rain shows up late tomorrow morning into early afternoon. rainfall forecast this time indicate a few hundredths of an inch, but you can see it tapers off rapidly aus move from north to south, and as mentioned, it will be a one-day event. should be out of here by tuesday morning. we'll look for temperatures tomorrow to cool as a result of the increasing clouds. mid to low 70s for the hot spots as we look for upper 60s to low 70s near the bay, and then we see the warm-up showing up here by midweek and extending into the end of the week here, and we're looking for lots of sunshine back into the mid to upper 80s for the hot spots. we could even see some 80s at the beach here as we'll look for an offshore breeze to develop beginning on tuesday and continuing through the end of the week, and that will make for a nice warm-up across the
