in line. she got away cleanly, but today she turned herself in. edward lawrence on what may or may not happen next. >> reporter: lapd detectives say the woman who caused this problem on thanksgiving at wal- mart in porter ranch turned herself in. shoppers like deborah and steve applauded the move. >> she did a wrong thing but was brave to turn herself in. >> reporter: she is glad her and her husband were not anywhere near the scene on thursday. >> i don't understand what motivated her, what the thought process was. >> reporter: they couldn't tell us her motive, but says that detectives interviewed her briefly. >> but she was later released. there are witnesses and victims to talk to by the detectives. and pending further investigation she will decide what else to do. >> reporter: friday they released a description of the woman they wanted to talk to. this woman caught on camera leaving the area, matches the description. but officers wouldn't confirm if it was the same woman who walked in the police station

earlier saturday night. in the video, you can see a can in her hand. detectives say she got dvds and x box games, bought them, left the store. today officers believe she is not a continued threat but could still be charged with a crime. >> they put together the investigation, and will decide on the appropriate action. >> a spokesperson said they have nothing to say about the shopper turning herself in. >> she did something wrong, but sometimes we -- have have to learn from our mistakes. >> you don't pepper spray on people shopping, self defense is one thing. >> so it is good she turned herself in? >> definitely. >> reporter: there were 10 people with injuries related to pepper spray that evening. police will go back and ask the victims if they wish to press charges or not. reporting in porter ranch, cbs 5. and san leandro police looking for other suspects outside a wal-mart, where it left a shopper wounded.

investigators are looking at surveillance video from the store. a man and his colleagues were walking at 1:00 yesterday, when at least four men tried to steal their stuff. a shot broke out, one person was arrested, the wounded man is recovering tonight. and black friday was much more peaceful and profitable for many shoppers and retailers. sales are up nearly 7% over last year, the black friday figures have retailers offering huge discounts, and it doesn't necessarily show the return outlook. they only expect a 2.8% increase on the shops. and four in 10 americans say they plan to spend less this year. and today, black friday, giving way to small business saturday. a chance for shoppers shun the malls and visit. more on what the big chains

about competition, the store owners we talked to said the arrival of this big brand helped the foot traffic, getting them in the door. >> just have to come inside, and try a little bit. >> reporter: this store opened several months ago on burling game avenue and are still struggling, they hope that customers will recognize the value. >> we bring fresh foods and people can come here and taste it first. >> reporter: and what is good for one of the shops is usually good for them all, leaving hope for the start of a strong holiday shopping season. >> this year has actually been booming and is much better. >> reporter: in burling game, cbs 5. and after this weekend, millions of americans will let their fingers do the shopping. cyber monday will be a winner for on-line retailers. early forecasts, showing a 7% increase, this will be the last holiday that people in california can avoid sales tax.

next year, on-line retailers will agree to add it to the purchases. and all three americans arrested during the protests in egypt, all back in the u.s. tonight. 19-year-old greg porter landed in philadelphia this evening, the first to arrive. the three men were taken into custody for allegedly throwing fire bombs at security forces in cairo. and it took a lot of political pull to win their release. >> i would like to thank the embassy in cairo for all the things they did for us, as well as the university at the administration in cairo, for all of their help and support. i'm just so thankful to be back and would love to be in fairfield right now. >> reporter: the last of the three students will arrive late tonight. they were all studying in cairo when suddenly the country erupted in protest over the military government's control. he was barely out of high

school when he died, and tonight, josh corral paid tribute at the place he loves, the dan napa at the marine. >> reporter: friends and family were led into the bleachers, the well wishers were silent as the family of josh corral took their seats. 19-year-old lance corporal josh corral, a 2010 graduate of san rafael high. his brother wanted the memorial to be here, out of doors, on the field where josh completed. >> the corrals, you guys are a significant part of this community. and i know you are feeling it. yeah, it is okay to clap. that is a sign of how much you're cared about. >> reporter: this night, the father of corral's friend brock talks about corral's last

message, his pride in his friend. >> the two were not only -- best friends and close friends, but -- fellow marines. i don't know if we can understand that level of friendship, maybe only a marine can understand it. >> reporter: remarkable turnout comes as corral's friends who went to college are home at thanksgiving break. the friend said he searched for answers in corral's death and came up with this. >> we just remember our friend always to bring about the memory of peace. we use our gift of life wisely, work is spreading only love, one day, no more beautiful life we hope will be not be taken by the hands of evil. >> reporter: the program ran long, there was much to say about the young man. and there was another tribute to the men and women who serve, in place tonight in san jose. the booster moms have set up a christmas tree to post pictures

alarm fire eight days ago left it unmove able. a lot of the tenants there were cal students of the . it will be closed until the structure is brought down. and repairs to begin next week in south san francisco, where an accidental geyser sent water rushing into homes, breaking yesterday, sending the water into the air. more than a dozen homes were flooded and the pipeline serves more than 2 million customers. but everybody still has water services. investigators are looking into the cause. and the new chevy volt, getting special attention for all the wrong reasons, federal investigators are looking into the batteries, that catch fire after crash tests, in at least two instances the fire started days after the crash. the government says right now the car poses no danger to consumers.

walk on, it left the crabs and other matter stranded. did you ever see any thing like this? >> oh indeed, the high tides are high as well, which could cause the water mark to be further up the beach. looking outside, dense fog advisory, patchy in the greater bay area, visibility less than a quarter mile. travel with caution, santa rosa, still two miles, but they will lose visibility through the night. the fog slow to go in the morning. as it does, we'll see temperatures warm up like today where we see the warmer temperatures in the south bay, mid-to-upper 60s, low 70s for tomorrow. and in the foggy locations, upper 50s, low 60s, depends on where the fog burns off, how warm it will get there. and it should help the temperatures in the low 40s, in

the north bay, mid-to-upper 40 around the greater bay area, as we look for mostly clear skies, for most of us. just the dense valley fog working its way into the inland valleys here. the storm track staying north of us here through the week as high pressure prevails off to central california, helping to shape up a dry and mild week here with no rain in sight for the foreseeable future, even into next weekend as all the rain goes by to the north, now we'll have a deficit for november, which is usually one of the wetter months, this is how much we're off this year, an inch and a half up in santa rosa, the month is not over yet, we're getting close, looking at an inch elsewhere in the bay, so we're starting out the season on the negative side. highs tomorrow, again, mid-to- upper 60s, across the greater bay area, possible 70s down in the south bay here, warm at the beach as well. and as you get a look at the
