a christmas miracle. the 21-year-old is recovering after police say that the mentally illed e brother thousand him out of the second flow, which happened this morning in that area. the 34-year-old's family called 911 after locking her in a room with the baby. officers say that the toddler was a little banged up, crying, but otherwise okay. the mother had a few broken bones. news of what happened spread quickly. neighbors were shot. >> this is a relatively quiet neighborhood. you know, a couple blocks from santana rose. a nice neighborhood. you know, you feel like the streets have been blocked off with 13 cops, you know,

patrolling the area. >> both mother and child are recovering in the hospital. investigators say that they could face charges. it was yet another filing for them and the man of the south man this week. celebrated on the christmas day, even as the family warned. >> reporter: a distraught mother on christmas day as she lost her son on thursday. the 23-year-old butler was shot and culled in oakland at 46th and west streets as she drove home from the store, his father fight on details. but the family members stay was over something petty.

crackdown after the 9-day arrest from last year. no fatal drunk driving crashes. san francisco and firefighters played santa today at the christmas eve toy drive, leaving santas unoccupied. they picked up stories delivered to his honor who might not have -- children who might not have anything. and more than 5,000 served a christmas deal as they were glad that happened today in san francisco. volunteers served breakfast and dinner, keeping up a long standing community tradition. but the church in the district has served more than 75,000 meals over the past few months, despite a slow down in donations. to texas, police say that even people were shot to death right after opening up their christmas gifts and started cleaning up the wrapping paper.

same bik santa cruz police say that a man trying to steal a basketball was arrested after trying to steal the spain bike from the same home. apparently for the third time. the man who lives on the avenue told police that he saw someone walk out of his garage yesterday and that his bike lock had almost been kit off. so you see, he was carrying burglary tools when they arrested near the home. he left without the bike. packers apparently gave a lot of money to charity. the thing is, it's not their money. the group anonymous says that they stole thousands of credit card numbers and personal information at the time. one victim said that $700 was taken from his account and given to charities like the red cross. >> yeah, actually, just costing us is all time and money. >> can you hear me? >> that will with my christmas,

nights. you'll notice a few temperatures on out there at or slightly below freezing, but these temperatures, they are not going to -- not going to be widespread. we won't see any freeze warnings for tonight. for tomorrow, we're warming things up, mostly in the upper 50s with a few low 60s on out there. you'll see the mix of sun and clouds across most parts of the bay area. so we had a few high clouds on into the picture today. we'll be e remaining dry for the next couple of days. take a look at your forecast overnight. mostly in the 30s to the 40s. this is pretty season financial for this time of the year. 28 in fairfield and your network is low. but 36 out here and 45 in san francisco. so you know for northern california if you're going a little traveling tomorrow, partly cloudy skies. 57 out in sacramento. a little closer to home around the bay area. again, a mix of sun and clouds, mostly partly to cloudy skies. remaining dry, 8 in oakland.
