it was dubbed the superrematch and lived up to the hype. by now you heard the team that beat the niners a couple of weeks ago is the new super bowl champs. local new york giant fans are ecstatic as don knapp shows us a lot of niners fans went ought of their way to avoid the game. >> itwas pandemonium, intoxicatingg pandemonium for bay area new york giant fans. amazing the thrill of victory looked pretty much like the anticipation that the same fans had at kickoff three hours earlier. new york giant fans were in a super bowl frenzy at ace's on sutter as their team scored first. just like two weeks ago it was wall-to-wall people and folks waiting to get in. >> reporter: why are you guys here today? >> oh, my god, are you kidding me? best place in the city to watch the giant as game. >> reporter: that is if you could get in today. are why are you here today?

>> to see the giants win. >> reporter: are a niners fan or giant's fan? >> new york. >> reporter: there were crowd as to at the green sport with bar, but not the enthuseam. this is where they watched the 49ers get whipped by the genets and saw their super bowl hopes dashed two weeks ago. fortunately for this bride her guests did not have struggle between choose between the we had and the game since the 49ers were not play of the watching the super bowl would be too feign painful for some 49ers fans and some just went to golden gate park. how come you are here today? >> because the 49ers are not in the super bowl. be a gunbattle in oakland. >> reporter: seven people were shot in two separate incidents about two- and-a-half miles apart in oakland. one of those cases a baby was nearoly shot, but did survive. mother however was injured. police say this has been a truly puzzling day, one of the witnesses say that gunbattle happened right outside of her window. >> well, i was in the house. looking and listening to the game, and i heard these shots. and it was real loud and i ducked down by my brother. and i dante look out to see. >> reporter: when jeanett dunn finally looked outside her car was riddled with bullet holes. she said officers told her 51 bullet holes. sher son complains what police think may have happened. >> was a gunbattle. >> reporter: between? >> two different groups. my sister talked with the

police and it was explained to me that someone came between one of these houses and targeted people in this house over here. >> reporter: a neighbor's window was also shot out. four members of one family were hurt, including a woman who was carrying her baby. the child was not injured. earlier in north oakland, just after 3:00 p.m., another shooting left one man injured, and the glass door of this liquor store shot up. ryan rosenblatt was afraid for his life. >> he was at the stoplight and one man had a gun and i don't know what guns look like that much, but it looked like a machine gub. i had heard gunshots go off a few seconds ir, so i know he had been shooting it. so i sort of got down low in my car. >> reporter: that witness said that the gunman apparently got away. it's still not clear how many suspects are involved. police

tonight, anne are still investigating. >> linda, thank you. the smoke is what some north bay residents woke up to this morning. a fast-moving four-alarm fire on mare island and anne makovec. >> these old buildings have a lot of openings and gaps and windows broke out and when they got on scene they saw a fast- moving fire. >> reporter: so fast that firefighters from three counties concentrated on protecting the area around the vacant warehouse since it was slated for eventual demolition. but embers fell along the north side of the island and fires popped up. >> the smoke went up and it went kind of over our heads, which goes into marshland. >> reporter:

the smoke attracted dozens to watch the 150,000 square foot building bush and with that we heard another wall collapse. it's been vacant for about 20 years and firefighters say it was free of most toxic chemicals besides lead in the paint, but some are upset that the city-owned building wasn't better maintained. >> they have done nothing. they don't even know what to do or what they want to do and here is sits. and then you get this. >> some lady said it was some homeless people maybe. >> reporter: as rumors spread what may have started the fire, firefighters didn't believe anybody was inside. they admit an investigation will be difficult since not much remains. vallejo fire department will have firefighters on scene until tomorrow to make sure nothing spacks back up overnight. >> two children and their

father are dead tonight, killed by a violent home explosion in washington state. the connection to a two-year-old missing person's case. >> home video shows the intense flames after an explosion ripped through the house in washington state, killing three people. investigators say two young boys died along with their father, josh powell. powell is the husband of a missing utah woman. >> this wasn't an accident. this is josh powell, who we believe killed his kids and himself. >> reporter: firefighters are picking through the smoldering debris to pinpoint what caused the explosion. while police report powell appears to have used accelerants. officials say the home blew up moments after a worker with child protective services dropped the boys off for a supervisors visit with their father of the social worker told police that powell blocked her from entering the home. she called her supervisor to report the smell of gas coming from inside and then the home was in flames. >> just heard a huge explosion and it shook my house. >> was

horrific of the flames were huge. >> reporter: josh powell is a person of interest in the 2009 disappearance of susan powell in utah. >> i did not kill my wife. it has been alleged the rainfall powell claimed he was off camping with his sons the night susan vanquished. managed to keep custody of his kids until last fall when his father was arrested forvoyeurism and child pornography and just last wednesday a judge denied powell's request to regain custody of his children. >> i think it was an opportunity to hurt the people he was angry at. >> reporter: powell's lawyer tells the associated press minutes before the explosion, powell sent an e- mail, simply saying, "i'm sorry, goodbye." cbs news. three people are lucky to be alive tonight after their plane crashed upside-down into a hughes. it happened in montana saturday afternoon. witnesses say the plane started sputtering out before it plunged into the house. >> we started digging into the

side of the plane and a couple of dogs came out and we heard muffing noises and dug further and there ways parker hanging upside-down who said get me out of here and that is what we did. >> the homeowner was inside the home when the crash happened. he wasn't injured and helped the passengers escape. all three aboard the plane walked with a from the accident. two of them used the home's front door. a suspected robber is accused of holding up a bank with apple pies. the fbi says the man claimed have to a pair of bombs with him in a sacramento wells fargo. they turned out to be apple pies from mcdonald. they say the robber got away with a lot of cash, but police arrested him a short time later. the minnesota couple on boater the costa concordia cruise shapran aground and tipped over last month were never found and authorities have called off the search. the family has scheduled a memorial mass that will take place next weekend.

50s. outside, it's a beautiful look at the building that was put up in 1898, once the busiest transit building on earth, the ferry building. 50 in fairfield, 46 at livermore and 51 degrees in san josi right now. in fremont it's 52 degrees. winds, such as they are, mostly out of east right now, but a high-wind watch posted for monday night. gail warnings offshore for monday night as low and high- pressure systems battle it out in the pacific and when they do, we'll get strong winds monday night, 20-40 miles per hour sustained winds and the potential monday night, early tuesday morning for gusts to 70 miles per hour in the bay area. so it's going to turn windy. tomorrow, temperatures in the low 50s, plenty of high clouds around right now and you can see the low pressure triggering high clouds from the south.
