in custody charged with five murders. police say he has a criminal record and a relationship with the victims but would not give specifics >> we do have information we are following up that there could be some prior gang ties involved in the situation although we do not believe it this time that this was a related. >> police say the bodies are from one family but exact identities have not been released >> there was a blunt trauma to the victims and we don't know anything more than that and there was a weapon capable of cutting >> 40 officers worked around the clock to make the rest including the firepower of a heavily armed swat team >> we were pursuing a homicide suspect and when we make search warrants for dangerous people use the swat team. >> the investigations began to cities >> search warrants were served in san francisco and san mateo. crime scene investigators

>> police say the man arrested after yesterday's officer involved shooting in san jose shot at the officers with a bb gun before they returned fire. police say 27 year-old cesar was threatening to kill family members when police arrived to the home. no one was hit in the exchange >> in the east bay driver is under arrest after smashing into a fire hydrant and landing on another car. police arrested and the woman on suspicion of drunk driving. a hospital that serve the peninsula for more than 50 years is in the process of being demolished. the old peninsula medical center in berlin game open in 1955. it was found to be seismically unsafe and unable to withstand a major earthquake. the parking lot will be built on the site.

the fight over the federal health-care law goes before the supreme court this week two years before the president signed a law extending the care to 30 million americans. the court will hear challenges to the law from 26 states and decide whether to kill or keep a law that is the president's major domestic accomplishment. all of his republican challengers oppose the law. president barack obama is asking north korea's leaders to have the courage to pursue peace. he is also sticking to his pledge to pursue a nuclear weapons free world. drew levenson shows us what the president encountered in the demilitarized zone >> president obama stood for the first time in the demilitarized zone, the no man's land that separates north korea from south korea. he got a close-up look at the area where thousands of soldiers patrolled both sides including

for mass in his pope mobile. the 84 year-old pontiff gave crowds a photo opportunity what they were not expecting when he wore a traditional sombrero. the open air mass is the highlight of his three day trip to the country. he spoke in the shadow of the christ the king monument, one of the most important symbols for catholics in mexico. he flew over the statue to bless it before the mast began, something the late show pope john paul the second always wanted to do but never got a chance to. pope benedict gave a message of hope in a country fighting a deadly drug war. followers came from all over the world including the u.s. but most were from mexico. this woman says we come with great enthusiasm and a lot of faith. the next lot is in cuba where he will try to draw more followers to the catholic church.

tonight we have chilly temperatures with readings mostly in the low fifties. 48 at livermore, 50 in mountain view. high-definition doppler radar, not too much. it all dried as the sun sank slowly into the west and then all of the keating of the day drew out the invective ability for those clouds to form rain. it left us with an inch and a half in san rafael. almost 1.5 in. in san francisco. we are still at about half of average for the bay area. clouds tamara as this system begins to move in to the pacific northwest. it will slide across the state tomorrow night and we will look for the north bay to increase clouds tomorrow.
