released the body of 13-yead jahi mc-math.. to her moth 'm ann breaking news out of oakland. just hours ago children's hospital released the body of 13-year-old to her mother. good evening, i'm ann notarangelo. >> i'm brian. the family held a news conference a short time ago. brian is live with the latest. >> reporter: the family's attorney office downtown san francisco where they just told me that she has left the hospital in oakland and currently on her way to another facility that will care for her, but wouldn't say where that is citing privacy and security reasons. 13-year-old has been in oakland children's hospital for the better part of a month now. most of it on a ventilator through legal action and court orders where the family was able to switch the ventilators and take her out of the hospital. they remember several times where she was within hours of being removed from that ventilator and families say that they feel blessed that she

is still alive and still has hope that she will remain alive. the hospital released a statement today saying that our hearts go out to the family as they grieve for this sad situation. and they wish for closure and peace. we'll have much more on the story coming up tonight at 11:00. live in san francisco, brian webb, kpix 5. >> all right, thank you, brian. we will continue to follow the story throughout the evening. kpix 5 news at 11:00 for the latest. three people have been rescued from a car that plunged over a cliff into berkeley hills, happening on the boulevard near centennial drive just before 7:00 tonight. firefighters, they used a rope and a system to rescue the three people inside. none suffered any serious injuries as it will take a bit longer to remove the car. no word yet on what caused that accident or whether or not speed was a factor. >> and our other big story of the day, they proved that they

francisco, they were booing of a fan in packer green. >> as for the deep freeze of green bay, it was a balmy 5 degrees at kickoff, which was just warm enough to keep them from cracking the top five coldest packers game ever. today's game ranked 7th. but they made it feel like 10 below. they will enjoy the warmer weather with temperatures in the high 50s. tonight is only going to get colder they report for millions, just going outside to be dangerous. >> the high temperatures in north dakota was minus 8 on sunday. >> i'm used to the coldest that i have ever felt. >> millions of people will feel the same bone-chilling temperatures for the next three days. >> minneapolis, st. paul will get 15 below for the high.

>> reporter: they warn that people could get frostbite or hypothermia from just a few minutes in this kind of brutal weather. >> the cold temperatures, we are expecting this coming week. they are more than an inconvenience. they are serious, they are dangerous, and they can cause a serious health risk. >> reporter: road conditions were treacherous when this tractor trailer crashed near springfield, missouri. at the airport, delays and cancellations stretched across the nation. gordon o'neil is stranded in boston. >> we are suppose to leave on friday morning around 5:40 in the morning. well flights were canceled and we've been here since. >> reporter: more than 4,000 flights were canceled or delayed on sunday. and more are expected as the deep freeze will return to the northeast over the next few days. well, it was 66 degrees at sfo this afternoon, but they are stiff weather to the east. still had a big impact. dozens of flights are in and out and they were canceled today. well, a missed place flash

drive forced a flight to make an emergency stop halfway across the country. the american airlines was bound for jfk when someone found the drive in the bathroom. the plane landed in kansas city. all of the passengers and the crew were evacuated to the terminal walk. as the authorities swept the planes and questioned passengers. after a thorough search, nothing out of the ordinary was found. passengers, they were allowed to report the planes four hours later and the flight continued on to new york. missing any mail? police say that these four men you're about to see will be responsible. the police arrested them on suspicion of raiding mailboxes in more than a dozen cities. there was an alert citizen alerting one of them. they also say they found mail from concord, danville, alamo, and other east bay cities. it is snot clear how much was found, but the u.s. postal inspector will be handling that part. and it is not just a motive,

early as next month. >> but first the potentially drama free decision. today, they are expected to confirm the bay area native as the next federal reserve chair. they taught at cal and was at the head of the san francisco federal reserve. she is currently the vice chair of the feds. if confirmed she will be the first woman to have a major central bank. state tax on sugar soft drinks could save millions of dollars in health care costs. california lawmakers turned down to pass a penny an ounce tax. but the state senator will bring it up again this month. most of the -- most of the savings would be reducing the number of diabetes cases. a museum that relies on donation is in the middle of the funding crisis. john explains that the impact could affect the exhibit

itself. >> at the wildlife museum in walnut creek, people get a chance to view the nature eye to eye. the facility has a larger and more important character. >> we are the only place in this area that will take natives and the california animals that are injured. >> reporter: this is the oldest wildlife hospital in the entire country. bay area residents that find orphaned animals could bring it here for treatment and hopefully be rereleased into the wild. on the warm summer days, the hospital could see up to 200 new animals a day. the turkey vulture was found nearly a day just a few days ago, but already healthy to be set free. that's all that will be free around here. >> well if you think about how much it would cost to take your dog to go to the doctor, it is just the same. >> they don't come with the health care. there is no affordable care act with the animals, so we need to raise the money to take care of them for the whole time that

they are here. >> reporter: the museum relies primarily on the membership fees and the donations, so it has been alarming to the museum directors that revenue has dropped about 25% from just last year. >> what do you attribute that to? i wish i knew. but it might be the weak economy or donations from the worldwide disasters. but the fact is that the museum is scrambling to get the money to take care of the normal case loads. since most of the animals have been infected in some way by contact of humans, this place maintains a mission. >> to connect people with the wildlife to inspire the responsibility for the world that we share. >> reporter: they are hoping people that love animals will share in the financial responsibility as well. in walnut creek, john ramos, kpix 5. well, we've been telling you how cold it is in green bay, wisconsin. but some video we've got, they will show you how it is actually a green bay in green

bay. but it is iced over right now. it's an ice breaking as a ship moves through the ice and it is moving through what would otherwise be water. but that's what happens at this time of the year when you have temperatures tomorrow. that they will never get above zero degrees. look at that. yikes. but of course it is all part of the fridged air that is moving down from the polar region and giving us some of the coldest readings in 20 years over the next 48 hours. the parts of the upper midwest. right now it is 20 below in minneapolis and 20 below in north dakota. and 9 below in omaha all the way down to topeka and kansas. one degrees below zero right there. dallas at 22. meanwhile back in the bay area, this is pretty nice as we look at downtown san jose. 42 in concord. liver mother right now at 4 -- livermore right now at 44 degrees. san francisco diving down to 38 degrees. for tomorrow a few clouds in

the bay area in advance to the weak trough that will serve us a couple of things. give us more clouds and cool down the temperatures. so we've had the record highs for the past three to four days in the bay area. and probably no more records tomorrow as temperatures, they are turning a bit cooler. here is what's happening. the persistent dome of high pressure that's been beaming the bay area has kept the storm track staying up over the queen charlottes right into british columbia. it is staying north for now. but as the little low pressure trough moves in, it will dip into the jet stream. and that will allow the cooler air to come down for northern california. some cool area, but they will not bring the rain weather with it. some clouds and cooler temperatures, but nothing in terms of precipitation. on the future cast, you can see what will happen as we have clear skies. but as we project this into the future, you can see racks of clouds moving into the bay area afternoon tomorrow. z then we will get a pretty good cloud shield for most of the day, which will serve to keep the afternoon highs fairly low. and so expect the clouds to show up, mostly high clouds by tomorrow afternoon. the cooling trend will begin.

no rain this week and no sight of any rain next week. extended computer models are not showing anything coming in. expect the temperatures to cool off a bit, but that's about it. heading out of sfo tomorrow, winds are out of the west at 20 and partly cloudy skies with a high at 62 degrees if you are heading to sfo. if you are heading to denver, it will be 39. chicago at 11 below. that's a high. and new york, they will have rain and 49 degrees that will be partly cloudy. all right for us in santa rosa, 42 degrees for the overnight low tonight. it will be down to 33 in san francisco and 43 in san jose. mostly clear skies, it means that it will be cool tonight and tomorrow, not bad. temperatures, they are still well above average. in oakland that number is 67 degrees. 11 degrees above average for tomorrow. concord in the 60s. these are not numbers we typically see until march. the later part of march, but here we are now with these fairly balmy readings. for tomorrow we'll see the numbers mostly in the mid-60s for the bay area.

65 for fairfield. and 65 degrees down in san jose with your extended forecast, clouds, no rain. temperatures remain in the mid- 60s inland. they will be in the upper 50s by then with a little dip in the temperatures midweek. and then by the weekend, we are just showing the sunny and relatively warm temperatures. >> tomorrow, they will be enjoying temperatures in the mid-60s. across the country, school closures. the entire state of minnesota has closed out all the schools for the first time in 17 years because of the cold weather that will be showing you a striking distance. >> yes. >> and you just can't move yourself in the right side of the screen can you? >> you can. the other thing took into consideration our high will persist. and they are getting colder and colder and we're getting relatively balmy. >> all right. well, gadgets, gizmos, and more. the futuristic technology being unveiled this weekend. just how far we have already come. ,,,,

gaming s for video game enthusiast, there is only one thing worse to losing. having a new expensive gaming system that doesn't work. julie watts looks at one viewer who found out that their $500 xbox one did not work. >> there were lines around the corner for days. >> reporter: this gamer who goes by the name of gino considers himself one of the lucky few when he nabbed this xbox one midnight on black friday's sale. but his luck quickly ran out. >> brought it home, really excited to use it. opened it up, started the xbox and it wouldn't move.
