submitted the filing to the alabama republican party offices in birmingham... after the former surgeon raised ten-thousand dollars for the filing fee. alabama will send a total of 50 delegates to the 20-16 republican national convention. of those, 47 will be decided by alabama voters at next year's primary. the remaining three are representatives of alabama on the republican national committee. for the first time in 22 years...an iowa dirt track racer is the reigning national champ of the modified division. and he's from right here in sioux city. deborah souverain met with the new champ today...she has more. allison driver chris abelson...compete s in the largest dirt race track association in the country. he goes against some of the best in the industry... and after a failed 20-14 attempt at the title...he's now a national champion. it's this engine that helped abelson...secure the national title...in the modified division. which is the largest division in the international motor contest association. abelson says knowing how to break out of a tight space...is the difference between winning and losing. "it's more the manuevering in between cars you're racing inches apart from that's what kind of makes it a challegne," said chris abelson abelson has been racing for 13 years.. but he says it's just a hobby. tonight at ten i'll have more from chris abelson...and his big win. reporting live in studio deborah souverain abc 9 news. allison: the eppley auditorium is rocking today... with some of the best drummers in the area competing in this years drum fest. this is the fourth annual drum fest in sioux city... and this year... 25 area drummers are taking part in 18 different competitions...

their competition will receive a signed painting from meytal. allison: are you a fan of vintage books and antique's? well the pierce mansion was the place totoe today. while people were able to tour the historic mansion... a number of collectibles and books were sold at this year's peirce mansion antique and book sale. the sale is to raise money for general upkeep of the mansion... as well as a few planned remodel projects. kathy flinginger... a board member for the mansion... says the book sale has been a great success for them. " we're very excited. we've sold lots of nice things, and we've given people some bargains, and i think people have been real happy with it, so we'll probably do it again." allison: the mansion is listed on the national register of historic places. allison: santa claus might not be coming to town this year... because he has a new job... a politician! he's won election to one of two seats up for grabs, on the north pole city council in alaska. santa claus - yes, that is his name... led all write-in candidates in the

have heard this one before, but morningside is leading the nation in multiple offensive caterogies. the mustangs top the charts, averaging 56 points and 575 yards of offense per game. third ranked morningside on the road this afternoon, taking on number 17 dakota wesleyan.... 1st quarter, dillon turner drops back and connects with hayden adams in the corner of the end zone for the 12 yard touchdown - still a 12-7 morningside lead. later in the first - tyler kavan bulldozies his way over two dwu defenders to get into the end zone. 19-7 stangs and morningside would get rolling...ryankasd orf 61 yard bomb to connor niles who has nothing but space. he can walk into the end zone...26-14 morningside... later in the half....kasdorf fires a strike to jason vander kooi....the mustangs win in a rout as kasdorf ties a school recrod with seven touchdown passes...76-20 the final. out in nebraska...20th ranked northwestern visiting hastings....looking to snap its two- game losing streak... later first quarter, jessie riley does a great job of keeping his balance...he lunges into the endzone...10-0 red raiders.
