at west high school next tuesday evening... and that's raising concerns for some.. jenna: more than one thousand people have signed a petition to bar the presidential candidate from speaking at the school because they say his political stance threatens the local latino community. abc 9's bria bell has more information on the growing petition. bria: tim and jenna... this petition was created by francisco hernandez who graduated from west back in 2012 to send a message to dr. gausman, the superintendent of the sioux city school district. hernandez says that donald trump is a bully, incites violence for the latino residents in sioux city and across the country, and quit frankly they don't want him there. in a press conference with the superindent, he expressed that the school district is neutral and will accept any political figure's campaign as it serves as a learning experience for the students. "we recognize that there may be some you oppose or support any specific candidate, but this is a real opportunity to allow the educational process about the democratic process to continue," said

gausman. political figures renting out spaces is nothing new to the school district. secretary of state john kerry, president barack obama, senator john mcain, and former governor sarah palin have all visited high schools in sioux city. tim: an early morning police chase ended with an accident that claimed the life of the driver being pursued. according to iowa state patrol sergeant bluff police tried to pull over a man suspected of drunk driving. when the man failed to stop, that's when police started a pursuit on old highway 75. the chase ended when the suspects vehicle rolled into a ditch just outside of salix. the driver died when he was thrown from the car. jenna: with the new year approaching... you could pay a hefty penalty if you don't purchase health insurance. under the affordable care act... fines for not being covered

will double next year. if you need help - there are resources in town. if you choose not to get health insurance by the start of the new year... you could face a penalty of almost 700 dollars or two and a half percent of your yearly income... which ever is greater. that's double the current penalty, which is about 300 dollars or two percent. sioux city's mercy medical center has a team of staff members who help connect people with a financial advisor to get them enrolled. intel. the money will be used for new school technology. employees from intel voted to award this prize as part of their intel retail edge program. it's something school administrators say is an important gift. michael sweeney -- principal holy cross school "obviously you know in our catholic schools funding does not come from tax payer money, so we have to generate all of our funds, so to get this ten thousand dollar our students tremendously with technology and education." in funds, faculty administrators at holy cross will come together to decide how best to use the ten grand ifor educational purposes. tim: hundreds of people are expected for an event this weekend honoring local members of the law enforcement community. as part of saturday's briar cliff and morningiside football game, city, county, state and federal officers are being honored at a free tailgate party at olsen stadium. the event begins at 10:30 in the stadium's west parking lot. officers will eat free. there is a small 5 dollar fee for others who attend. a parking shuttle will run from transit plaza to
