the northwest iowa republican rally. the event begins at 7 p-m at the bultman center. jenna: turning to the democratic side of the presidential race a new poll shows hillary clinton with a commanding lead in the iowa democratic presidential caucus. the monmouth university poll shows 65-percent of likely democratic caucus-goers back clinton. senator bernie sanders is a distant second at 24-percent. this is the first survey conducted after vice president joe biden announced he won't run for the white house next year. jenna: house and senate republican leaders announced a tentative two- year budget deal with the white house to dodge a potential government shutdown. and this... just days before the house is set to elect representative paul ryan to replace outgoing house speaker john boehner. abc's karen traver has more. virginia, who voted 18-thousand 689 times. jenna: a new south sioux city law has some city leaders butting heads with propery owners. abc9 reporter rachel ramos was in south sioux city today and has more on the ordinance. rachel : south sioux city has passed a new ordinance for rental inspections that will take effect in march. with the new ordinance, property owners must follow a checist of maintence codes. the rental inspection board emphasizes the importance of safety and health in living environments. "we're concerned about the health and safety of the occupants," said randy meyer, chairman of the rental inspection board. "and we're going to go in and make sure there are no violations". members of the ordinance board feel the updated dwelling law will create a safer environment for occupants. this new ordinance for rental inspections was created under the leadership of a diverse group of south sioux city citizens including the mayor,

well as attorneys and paralegals, giving a voice for every group affected by the new law. coming up tonight at six, ill have more about the property owners affected and their thoughts on the new law . reporting live in the studio, abc9 news, im rachel ramos. jenna: general motors is recalling one- point-four million cars due to fears they might catch fire. jenna: g-m says more than 13-hundred of those vehicles caught fire after a previous fix... prompting this new recall. g-m says the fires are the result of oil leaking onto a hot manifold. most of the fires occurred while the cars were off. those affected by the recall can go to a g-m dealer to get their vehicles fixed for free. jenna: one retailer based in new york is raising some eyebrows. that's because r- e-i , the nation's largest consumer co-op and specialty outdoor retailer, has announced its plans to close its doors on black friday this year. at all 143 of its retail locations,

" it was one last cruise through downtown lancaster for charlie bernstrom and his oversized pumpkin. "i wanted to make sure it didn't fall off, made it this far...." it started as a seed weighing just a few ounces back in april. earlier this month at a large pumpkin contest - it weighed in at 1,465 pounds. so what did bernstrom decide to do with his enormous gourd... "kind of a good ending to the season when you can have a lot of people come out and enjoy watching a pumpkin smash a van i guess." that's why people started showing up an hour early at the town football field - to make sure they got a seat close to the splat zone....
