norfolk. it's estimated the plant will create around 50 jobs with salaries averaging near 70 thousand. charley havens the ceo of o-c-t pipe says that although they are not one of the largest companies around, they want to be a part of the community and to expapa norfolk's econony. "other than we're ready to go and dig some dirt, i don't have a whole lot more to say except i'm glad to be here and i think we can make this community grow!" said havens. plans for construction begins in early november, charley who works out of texas jokingly made a comment about wanting to get started before it gets cold. he has hopes of operating in july of 2017. jenna: there are some water concerns in rock rapids after a water main break. that happened late yesterday afternoon when opopators noticed no water was coming into o the wastewater treatment t ant. today, the d-n-r traced the leak to a break in a main underneath the rock river and estimated 56 thousand gallons of wastewater

was discharged into the river. the dnr is monitoring cleanup and repairs. tim on cam iowa and nebraska are included in a group of 21 states the u.s. department of agriculture says it plans to install new ethanol fuel pumps in. the usda is spending $100 million to help install nearly 5,000 additional pumps. matching grants bring the total public-private investment to $210 million to increase the availability of the corn-based fuel according to the usda. . iowa, the nation's top corn- prprucing state, pickckup $5 million for 187 pumps, a nebraska gets $2.3 million for 80 additional pumps. jenna: sioux city is being honored for encouraging business growth... through a skilled workforce. governor terry branstad was in sioux city at the convention center to formally announce that the city has earned the 'skilled iowa community' designation. the city completed a checklist of both business commitments and workforce certifications. the skilled iowa

homemade sweets show up in classrooms. our chief meteorologist fred hexom and his son have peanut allergies. here's how how his family deals with the upcoming holiday. pumpkin carving is a favorite fall activity for the hexom family. far less scary than some of the typical halloween favorites that involve candy and baked goods. you see, fred and his son alex have nut allergies. it's something mom, shelley, keeps a very close eye on. shelley hexom says, "desserts and candies are the two things, anytime you go anywhere and there's candy or brownies, or even some cakes, you know, a loloof people sprinkle those little nuts on top for a tasty littletreat, but for us it causes b b problems. fred remembers feeling his body's aversion to peanuts at a young age. at that time, far less was known and understood about food allergies. fred hexom says, " didn't know what it was at the time, but this terrible feeling, not a pain, but a feeling - an ichy, scratchy, irritation - in my mouth and my throat, and i remember my mom found me spitting and salivating on the carpet and she thougth i didn't like the cookie." now, as five-year-old alex grows up with dietary concerns, so are many other kids. one in 13 kids in the u.s. have a food allergy. that's roughly two in every classroom.

efforts like the teal pumpkin project aim to increase awareness about the problem by encouraging families to offer a low-cost, non-food option in addition to candy for halloween ick-or-treating... and place a teal- painted pumpkin on their doorstep as an indicator. the awareness is exciting for the hexoms work on a daily basis to educate their own child about living with food allergies. shelley says, "we've really tried to make him aware of it,nd he does a really good job with it. i've taught him, anytime anyone gives you anything to eat, ask, 'does this have nuts or peanuts." so this holiday can be fun for all kids, and a little less worrisome for their parents. jenna:

" as they were pushing me in- everybody was turned around looking in back of me saying "here it comes" - i'm going what?" jim deferio does not come across as a man who suffered a heart attack - one day ago. his second shock that day - came at 4 o'clock - as he was being wheeled through the automatic doors to strong memorial hospitals emergency department. "i turned and there was a er - i would say about 3 feet high - a small deer and he ran n st me, it ran right by me - in frontnt of me e down the corridid- slipping as it went. a a everybody kindndf moved aside - what are you u ing to do? you see a deer coming down there fast - so everybody moves." it is the first time he has seen the photo of the deer being transported out of the hospital.
