twelve farmers named a "champion of change"e"n award honoring men n d women for occupational service. martin... for his dedication sustainable farming in nebraska. tim: a couple of months ago iowa governor terry brananad announced an expasion of broadband internet. in august the governor declared that rural areas acss iowa with atleast 90 thousand homes would gain access to the broadband expansion. the federal communications commission is providing a total of 52 million dollars to internet prpriders across the state to make the expansion happen. and some siouxland communities are already benefitting from the program. jenna: a total of sixteen schools in rural northwest iowa now have a new connection to fiber-optic networks measuring up to 1-gigabit-per- second internet speeds and teachers and students in sioux center iowa are saying it's making a rld of difference " it was in-part thanks

" jenna: one person was injured after a truck collided with another car this morning officials say rescue crere were deployed to wawaeagle drive in oux city after reports of a head on collision between a car and a pick up truck causing the driver of the smaller vehilce to be trapped. rescuers had to free the driver from the vehicle dan cougill -- assistant fire chief " an elderly female patient that had some trauma type injuries that was some what trapped in her vehicle, so some minor extrication techniquesesshe was removevefrom the vehicle, the other patient was minor injuries that was transported by private vehicle." no word yet on the conditions of either driver. authorities are continuing to investigate this accident. tim: if you're in ragbrai withdrawl, well, registration for next summer's ride

starts next month. and today, ragbrai unveiled its new ragbrai 43 logo. the logo has featured hogs, corn, and tractors in the past. now, they say, it's finally time to relax, and enjoy all of the fun ragbrai, has to offer - off the bike! the new logo features a rider relaxing in a hammock between two trees with his bike and a tent in the backgroud. so far, the logo's getting lots of possitive feedback on social media. overnight stays for next years ride will be announced in january jenna: if you didn't know today is national cat day. and our r iends in des moines got the chance to celebrate with some kittens on demand. members of our affiliate w-o-i news four utilized the uber app's option for a "kitten delivery" straight to their newsroom. for a fee of thirty dollars, users get 15 minutes of playtime with the kittens.

cancer does not a new report that shows how breast cancer may be becoming an even bigger problem for black women. with more, here's abc news senior medical contributor dr. timothy johnson. "breast cancer? while detection and treatment have been improving, it is an established fact that black women

tend to fare worse with this disease. now, new statistics may mean more concern for these women? revealing that black women today get breast cancer as frequently as their white counterparts. a surprise, since white woman have traditionally been more likely to develop this disease. but researchers at the american cancer society? looking at data from a large national health survey? even finding that in some states, rates are now higher in black women. these women also likely to be diagnosed later? when more aggressive forms of cancer have taken hold, a finding that researchers say might be due to a lack of regular screening and medical care. worse, when black women do get a breast cancer diagnosis they are 40 percent more likely to die than white women. fortunately, there are steps that all women can take to lower their risk. eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables, maintain a healthy weight, limit alcohol intake, and talk to your doctor about screening. small steps? that may figure big in prevention. with this medical minute, i'm dr. timothy johnson .
