the governor added that he thinks its best for the iowa utilites board to decide if its necasary to use eminant domain. and the laws that are in place that gives the utilities board the responsibility to use eminant domain is apropriate. branstad was asked about the controversial issue at his weekly press conf today (monday). jenna: the university of iowa's new president started his job on campus today, and was met with protests. "he had incredible loyalty among the gateway employees and i know all of them really mourn his loss, he was too young, but the legacy he left on gateway is permament," said jim wharton, friend and former colleague of mike. the company....became a major success....by shipping computers straight to customers in boxes with a spotted-cow design. their former headquarters in sioux city...still dones the cow inspired logo. it's a piece of hammond's legacy...that his son mike junior...hold close. 'he was a great person, great dad. just a good guy to be around," said mike hammond jr. deborah souverain abc 9 news. tim: a memorial service will be held tomorrow morning at meyer brothers tomorrow morning at meyer brothers colonial chapel. the family is asking attendees to show support for mike's favorite sports teams by dressing in either iowa hawkeye or chicago bears apparel.

jenna: could the pool where you learned to swim as a kid... be closing? well, the city doesn't know quite yet. a committee of sioux city's parks and recreation department is discussing possible closures and renovations of sioux city pools. cooks, leeds, leif, and lewis have all been part of the discussion since august. "leif-erikson has the potential to be closed just because there's a lot of structural issues there. but there's been some debate on some of the other facilities: leeds and cook where there is some age and structural issues that need to be addressed" says matt salvatore, director of sioux city parks and rec. jenna: but the committee is having a problem coming to a deicision. possible solutions include replacing pools with splash pads, but the committee hasn't made any concrete plans just yet. tim: a sioux city music legend is now a part of the hard rock's music memoribillia showcase. nat sound: clapping as display is unveiled ron emory: "what do you say to that?" ron emory's display was unveiled this morning.
