"i think that'st the way we're going to attract and keep young people in this community and we've done a bad job of that for about 10 to 12 years around here. we need to do the things that young families find attract and we need to continue to work on economic development very hard.we need to have jobs in this community for young people," said bob scott, sioux city mayor. also, on the ballot was councilwoman...rh onda capron. she was re- elected to her seat on the city council .... with 77 percent of the vote. rhonda...roped in one thousand-889 votes... beating out thomas venesky who collected... 554 votes.

on the inside and the outside lanes. it also has some that it's embedded in the roadway, so when somebody approaches and gets into that crosswalk it's very obvious that somebody is in there" says paul clousing, city manager. while the city says safety are it's largest concerns, some residents think the expansion will serve other purproses, like pulling revenue through thei largest artery. "for traffic flow and all that, i think there's just better ways and other ways to do it than just one single artery through the middle of town" says randy widbin, resident along hwy 75. residents are also concerned about the livelihood of those who live along hwy 75. the city says they will work with residents whether they are willing to sell their property or rather be relocated.' "are we a community thatares for economic advancement but also for people who are a part of the community. and i think that seems to be more the issue than just the tax money issue, although that's certaintly part of it" says randy widbin, resident along hwy 75. jessica rae: voters in sioux center were not supportive of those plans to expand highway 75

that your mom, grandmother or maybe an aunt made that you wish you had today? well if there are, make it your mission to get those recipes. maybe it's as simple as asking them to write them down, but if that's not possible, see if you can find their old recipe box or that over stuffed folder that's brimming with all those treasures. maybe make one or two a month, and rewrite them so you can still read them before they fade away. today i want to share the recipe for my grandmother's honey cake, which was passed down to my cousin from my aunt. all she did was mix together some eggs, oil, vanilla and sugar. once it was mixed, she added some brewed coffee, a bit of red wine and some flour along with a bunch of spices. then after mixing honey with baking powder, she slowly added it to the batter. she spooned this into a couple of loaf pans and into the oven it went for about an hour. let me tell you it was the longest hour in history. but when they came out of the oven, i can still remember the whole house smelling amazing. if you'd like
