the bakken pipeline get the chance to go "on the record" with thier opinions this week. tim: the iowa utilities board is allowing about 300 people to speak on the issue beginning thursday in one, iowa. abc 9's briaiaell has more.... bria: tim and jenna, a quick check of the list of people being allowed to testify before the utilities board, shows just how massive interest the project is. folks will travel from as far away as kentucky and texas... as well as place in iowa like sioux city and wall lake to make thier case to the utilities board. "people protesting bakken pipeleles." for a year and a half, iowans have had d problem voicing their opinions on the dakota access oil pipeline project. come thursday those voices will officially be heard in a public hearing in front of the iowa utilities board. "people protesting bakken pipelines." announced back in june of 2014..... the project runs across 4 states including iowa, covering 343 miles. about a half a million barrels of crude oil would be

transfered each day. the pipeline path includes 18 iowa counties. woodbury count may not be included... but that esn't mean people like electrician craig g vine aren't papang attention. infact he's one of 134 who will speak in favor of the project on thursday. "i just think that it would be good for the state of iowa, it's a lot of good jobs and dakota access has done a very good job of keeping high safety records. it's a lot safer than the railcars that which are currently used and it is good for iowa," said levine. the utilities board has identified abother 143 people speaking against the project.... including rosemary partridge of wall lake. third-party firm hasas statatpasses the energy transfer has projected $50 million thousand jobs for iowans during construction. if needed, the

a sioux x ty man after police say fondling a 13- the waiting room hospital. according to alex anderson met up with a 13 year hospital's waiting room. authorities say anderson kissed the girl multiple times, before making sexual contact with her. anderson is charged with 3rd degree sexual abuse, and is out on 10 thousand dollar bond. a court date is set for november 18th. tim: e avian flu caused e e prices to skykyocket this summer, and now turkey prices are about 30 to 40 percent higher, just in time for thanksgiving. with turkeys in short supply, prices are going up and for the needy, that may mean cutting something else off the dinner list. with the number of turkeys donated each year variable, the food bank of siouxland is worried that higher prices may hit close to home for some. "families in need really feel the impact of those price increases first. then, of course, through

prices go up, it's the same thing... we aren't able to buy as much of something or maybe we choose not to buy it at all" says linda scheid, executive director, food bank of siouxland. local butchers are feeling an effect as well steve hein, manager of braunger's steak company, says just like gasoline, a price hike won't deter customers from buying a turkey for thanksgiving. the bigger problem is... not enough turkeys to go around. "it's protecting our country, and freedoms and all the things that we love kids come up and they tell you thanks the smiles on sarah orwig, sioux city fire rescue recording secretary. many local service men and women are also part of the sioux department a a paramedidi. veterans and members across the country are through an organization that gets them outside and into nature... giving them the chance to open up about common struggles many military members deal with. it's called "patriot outdoors adventures" - a chance for adventure, but also friendship and understanding. "alright, you guys ready to go?" before the sun comes up... "we got three deer yesterday and d 're going out this rning for a couple more." a group of hunters take to the fields in northeast nebraska. but these surroundings are tame compared to what many of these guys have experienced. chad jensen, u.s. air

force, wichita, ks says, "being with veterans, it's always good to hear the experiences they had overseas and the things that they've done." these men have all served our country - some are still serving. they're part of a group called patriot outdoors adventures, whose mission is to give service members an experience where they can relax and re-connect. nathan mcclure, patriot outdoors, says, "when strangers come together at first, they're trying to size each other up, figure out who's who, especially if we have different branches, different eras." the non-profit charity sponso hunts like this in 10 states, including nebraska and south dakota. it was founded on the premise of getting service members away from the rank and structure of the militaryryo they can open up about challenges they're facing in civilian life. nathan mcclure says, "as we breakdown those barrrrrs, we really get into the networking and mentoring. when we have the trust and friendship, people are more willing to accept that 'i'll go with you to counseling,' or 'i'll go with you to budget classes'; it allows us to get into the heart of what we do. mark wieseler,

patriot outdoors ne state rep. says, "we find out what issues they're having, you know, problems, whatever it may be- stress at home, not being able to find a job, not being able to get a resume done, financial problems." mama wieseler, a veveran from hartington, is hosting thisisunt. through patriot outdoors, he's been able to turn his love for hunting into a way to help others. mark says, "the event is just the art. we try to go past just the event and make sure these guys are getting the help they need." joseph torriero, an army veteran living in georgia says, "people aren't getting the help they need. maybe they don't know how to get it or maybe there's a problem with the army or the military or the va, i don't know, but what i do know is that vets help vets and that's the key. there's people out there that feel the same way. and if you need us, we're there." here in the fields... just like on the frontlines. jenna: patriot outdoors took out 450 veterans and service members last year. and, these trips aren't just for the guys. they organize hunting trips for women and spouses, even kids can come along sometimes. and, they're at no cost or very
