afternoon after lightning struck a a home. authorities say that lightning hit the chimneu of this home on the 49-hundred block of morningside avenue around 1:30. two people were at home, but they weren't hurt. the home did suffer minor smoke damage to the chimney and attic area. tim: over 11 thousand people in and around sioux city were without power briefly today after problems at a local sub station. officials with mid american energy tell us that the outage that hit around 11am.... lasted only for out 4 minutes, but affected customers as far away as jefferson, south dakota and dakota dunes... as well as on the city's west side. jenna: authorities have released the name of a north dakota man found dead at a pomeroy, iowa residence early tuesday morning. the iowa d-c-i has identififi the man as 41-1-ar-old dale potter of devil's lake north dakota. authorities say that potter was found dead with a gunshot wound. they're still waiting on the results of an autopsy and the investigation into the man's death is ongoing.

jenna: a murder suspect from florida has surrendered himself to the sioux city police department. . authorities say y that 28 year old jonathan barrio turned himself in on wednesday afternoon. barrio was wanted for second degree murder in connection to a shooting that happened in florida back last month. he's currently being held in the woodbury county jail while he awaits extradition back to florida. tim: coming up this weekend a special fundraiser will be held to raise money for a family who lost their son in a fire. the e rres famliy lost their 3 year old boy, nico, in a house fire back on october 30th. this saturday at noon, there will be a silent auction at st. michael's church in sioux city. and coming up tonight at 10, we'll hear from those close to the family about how the tragedy has affected them, and how ey're looking r help. tim: bibibuster no longer describes the kind of harvest season iowa farmers are enjoying. iowa is set to be the nation's largest corn producer and second largest soybean producer this year.

" tim: on this veterans day, one of our local colleges is honoring the past and present students and faculty who have served. jenna: western iowa tech and the 185th air refueling hosted a program, with the presentationonf colors abc 9's bria bell was there and brings us more. bria: tim and jenna, one siouxland veteran says... our service members deserve more than one day of recognition. major kenneth tidwell from the 1-85th air refueling wing is also the dean of arts and science at western iowa tech. he spoke at today's veteran's day program. there was a presentation of f colors and the nging of the national anthem. major tidwell talked about the sacrifices that veterans and their families make because they love our country.
