"you took my love, my husband, my friend, my partner, my soul and my spirit. you made me question god, my life and my career" during today's hearing suppi asked for his crime. hear how liz reacted to that this won't be the

jenna: lincoln police are investigating an alleged rape at the home of husker quarterback tommy armstrong jr. a 20 year old woman claims the sexual assult happened sunday morning. she says she does know the suspect, who officals have not identified. as of this morning, no arrests have been made in the case. the nebraska athletics department is aware of the allegation and is cooperating with law enforcement. tim: no one was seriously injured in an apartment fire in south sioux this afternoon. that happened on west 27th street after a grease fire broke out in one of the unit's kitchens. the person at home put water on the fire, which only made it worse. the man did escape with just minor burns. "unfortunately he was cooking with grease, so he tried to throw water on it which is not good cause it just turns into a column of fire at that point." says ssc fire chief toby tim: the apartment minor smoke damage. it's been 57 years since ground

broke on the highway 20 expansion project. jenna and after years of setbacks, we finally know when it will be completed. abc 9's deborah souverain attended an event called "road to the final forty" at the convention center today.. she joins us now with the details. deborah? deborah tim and jenna it was 1958..when the first four lane portion of highway 20 was constructed in moville. now nearly 60 years later the project is near the end of its road. "i'm just really proud to put this last piece on the puzzle. clapping with that puzzle piece...iowa governor terry brandstad...marke d the last portion of the highway 20 expansion project. today..the iowa d-o-t announced that...the 40 mile stretch from moville to early...is set to be completed by the end of 2018. governor branstad says he is excited to finally see an end date for the project. "it's going to help with economic development in sioux city, fort dodge, and all of northwest iowa so it's been a longtime coming and

i'm really proud that it's going to be completed while i'm governor in 2018," said branstad members of the iowa d-o-t...and u-s highway association were on hand for the event...and lieutenat on hand for the event...and lieutenat governor..kim reynolds. senators rick bertrand..and bill andersen...were honored with awards for their role in helping to pass a 10 cent gas increase...that officials say was vital to the completion of the project. "we have worked for the last five years to try to find a way to see this road completed and highway 20 now, on the fast track, on the road to completion in 2018 i think that's tremendous, it's exciting"said bill anderson, 286 million dollars...have been allocated to complete the remaining 40 miles of the project. and again...that's all expected to be completed at the end of 2018. reporting live in studio deborah souverain abc 9 news.

tim on cam: america is a land of immigrants. but now a debate over syrian immigrants has state and local agency's planning for the future. because of security concerns, iowa is one of several states looking to keep those immigrants from entering. sioux city's mary j. treglia community house offers assistance to newly arriving immigrants and workers we talked with say not allowing immigrants across state boarders goes against everything we stand for. "it's counter productive to what we are trying to do to our community. we are trying to help immigrants esepcially refugee immigrants get away from violent war torn areas like syria to become better people. people are coming from syria to better themselves to get out of a violent area and nescassarily to bring harm to us." tim on cam: now ... bell told stated that they are very well equipped to handle new refugees coming to the area and that they are working on new strategies to help them settle here in siouxland. jenna: secretary of state john kerry met with french president francois hollande in paris today.

after the meeting, kerry expressed president obama's condolences for those killed in the attacks. and he said the u-s and france need to boost their efforts to hit the core of isis. president. he made the announcement today on his facebook page, thanking everyone who has been a part of his campaign. he stated that he "realizes that our country is off on the wrong track right now." jindal joins, scott walker, and rick perry who also withdrew from the race. tim: iowa governer terry branstad gave his backing to an ongoing court battle against the epa and the u-s army corps of engineers for their recent waters of the u-s or "wotus" rule. gov. branstad now joins 13 other state leaders, including nebraska and south dakota, in the fight against the wotus rule. the lawsuit fights what branstad is calling "federal overreach" when it comes to controlling and improving the quality of bodies of water. in a statement released today, the iowa governor says the wotus rule in place quote "imposes significant barriers and impairs iowa's ability to advance innovative water quality practices" tim: lt. governor kim reynolds, iowa

agg secretary bill northey and both iowa senators joni ernst and chuck grassley have all adimantly opposed the waters of the us rule. jenna: one of the most listened to women on radio is bringing her advice to siouxland. delilah will be the speaker at next year's women's power lunch. the united way of siouxland made the big announcement today about its popular annual event. often called the "oprah of radio," delilah is also the author of three books, the founder of the non-profit "point hope" and a single mother of 13 kids, 10 of whom are adopted. when iowa hosts be the last time 21 senior hawkeyes take the field at kinnick. iowa might be overwhelming favorites against the 2-8 boilermakers, but with so much on the line, they aren't taking them lightly. alex giaimo has more from iowa city. alex giaimo--"iowa closes out their home schedule against purdue this weekend. with a win they can clinch the big ten west but they aren't thinking in terms of the bigger picture just yet. it took around 40 minutes for somebody to ask kirk ferentz about his team's next opponent at his weekly press conference." kirk ferentz--"you know we aren't taking anything for granted i can assure you that i know the conversation today hasn't been on purdue, our conversations have been strictly on purdue, we got a lot of respect for them and respect for their coaching staff." tevaun smith--"we can't walk into this

for gpac football teams, besides morningside and doane who qualified for the playoffs, the league announced its all conference teams earlier today. the mustangs and northwestern claimed all the major awards today. morningside quarterback ryan kasdorf was the offensive player of the year kasdorf led the nation in passing efficiency for a third straight season en route to the award. his teammate, linebacker zach schleuger was co-defensive player of the year. he shared the award with northwestern defensive end sam van ginkel, a rock valley native. mustang head coach steve ryan was the coach of the year for the fifth time in his career. van ginkel was 7th in the naia in sacks with 9.5 and the junior is the third raider to earn the defensive award in three years. schleuger led the mustangs in tackles for the third year in a row and had two pick sixes this season. here's a look at the rest of the first team honorees from the area...tyler kavan, connor niles, blake frank and joe brummer from morningside all made the first
