the nation for the thanksgiving holiday. airliners have expressed their services should not be affected by the strike. tim: fantasy sports has become a multibillion dollar industry thanks to a version of the game called "daily fantasy sports," which allow players to wager on daily or weekly leagues offering huge jackpots. jenna: however, after new york's attorney general ruled that daily fantasy sports was a form of illegal gambling in that state... the future of the booming industry seems uncertain. tim: in fact, 7 states now have bans on daily fantasy sports, including iowa. jenna: abc9's deborah souverain has more on why iowans are blocked from scoring in daily fantasy leagues. " " natpop -- "go go go!," said nyoki "ohh, come on!," unidentified man at bar. "are you a cowboys fan?" these dallas cowboy fans.are getting nervous especially...nyoki mokeba. natpop - "couple points right there. there we go!" said nyoki mokeba (shot from end of the bar) the cowboys are down.. but that's not why nyoki is nervous. he's got two fantasy draft picks in the game.

and in his league...a loss on the fantasy field....is a real life fumble. natpop - "this league is a money league. it was 50 dollars a person to play and it's winner take all," said nyoki. while it's just a friendly wager... his fantasy league is actually against the law. "really, wow. that's new to me," said mokeba. i didn't know that." under iowa code...pay to play games are illegal... players must personally know their league partners. and you can't win or lose more than 200 dollars a day. iowa attorney general tom miller says these laws are blocking iowans from scoring in the daily fantasy major leagues. "the amount of potential winnings - if you watch tv - they are just huge, hundreds of thousands of dollars," said tom miller, iowa attorney general. "well beyond the $200 limit in iowa law," said miller. so how much more are they..... natpop - "over three hundred million

"we pushed it through the house and it got through the state government committee in the house and it stalled on the floor and i think that's where we are at moving into this next session," said bertrand bertrand says...opponents in the legislator were concerned about the impact it would have on the state's

there is also fear from critics that the lure of huge jackpots could fuel gambliing addictions. however, gambling therapist...jamaine mauer says the size of the winnings don't play a role in addiction. "a lot of the activity that's happening in the brain is similar to getting high off of some type of substance," said jamain mayer gambling therapist at jackson recovery centers. "so they're constantly trying to recreate that high," said mayer. the hawkeye state is one of 7 in the nation with restrictions on daily fantasy sports. as for nyoki at the bar... he's hopes to avoid crossing over the line between fun... and fouling out. fantasy football is a game of skill with some strategy. i think right now fan duel is a bit of a gamble whenever you play it however, sioux city senator rick bertrand...believes this is an issue that definitely got a lot of attention in des moines. "we pushed it through the house and it got through the state government committee in the house and it stalled on the floor and i think that's where we are at moving into this next session," said bertrand tim: in case you are wondering w sites like draft king and fan duel can operate in other states, it all comes down to a loophole in the federal law. jenna: the 2006 unlawful internet gambling enforcement act shutdown most online gambling. however, that same law also lists "fantasy or simulation sports" as a game of skill...not one of luck...which removes it from the category of gambling. tim: and if your a fantasy sports better in south dakota it appears you're still in the clear for now. gaming officials in south dakota and the state's attorney general met in deadwood earlier today to review the state's stance on fantasy

child abuse officials from mercy medical held a walkthrough on the campus of western iowa tech today, of a 3-d mock up showing what their future center would look like after funding comes in. they also held simulations at the mock-set up in orer to identify and assess the logistics and safety of the future facility. "because we're building a new facility for our child advocacy center, that it is everything we want it to be. that it's efficient, that we're making the best use of our space. so it's really the process of sort of building even our new space within this space and seeing if it works." no timetable has been made for cosntruction for the child advocacy center as fundraising is still underway. women's health initiatives are everywhere... and we're often pretty good about keeping up with those routine tests. jenna: but, there are far fewer times, it seems, when men's health is put in

the spotlight. well, not anymore thanks to "movember" and one local effort to educate men about prostate cancer. here's one man's story about what that's so important. "[i'm] still kickin', still kickin'," says chuck johnson of sioux city. "yep," comments his wife, jan. chuck & jan johnson from sioux city have plenty of quiet time, now that their kids are raised and both are retired. they also feel thankful for this time they have together, after two major medical scares. chuck had open heart a year and a half ago and also survived prostate cancer back in his 50's. chuck says, "we opted to have it removed and be done with it and i've been 13 yea [cancer free]." jan says, "it's a huge decision; it's a big surgery, and a lot of recoup [time] afterwards." "life changing," chuck chimes in. "it's life changing," jan says. "but we're really thankful he was on top of it." chuck's cancer was caught by a psa screening. it's a simple blood draw that checks the level of prostate-

specific antigen. that's produced by the prostate. levels under four are normal. elivated levels can mean cancer or other prostate problems. chuck says, "[i] went from a seven to a 10 in less than a year." chuck and jan credit their doctor for pushing for the psa test. there's conflicting advice about the screening. some groups even recommend against it all together. but dr. james webb from unitypoint's sunnybrook clinic believes it's part of a good approach to overall wellness. dr. webb says, "i've been practicing for 25 years and rather than do this (motions going up and down) with my recommendations, i try to have a real level approach to what the truth is for screening, and for me it's finding cancers early and treating them appropriately." dr. webb recommends psa screening every other year starting at 40 and then annually starting at 50. chuck and jan believe in it, too, and recommend the screening for family members. chuck says men may get a bad rap about taking care of their own health... chuck says, "there's no excuse really." but it doesn't have to cost you your life. jenna: don't want to make an appointment to get this test
