4 people spoke at tonight's meeting... and all supported changes. "times are changing and i take my kids, between 9 and 16, we take our kids out of town to go do stuff. please i'm begging the city council give us reason to keep my kids in town." "you're doing a good job i think, but don't go backwards. when you make that park out there, put in all kinds of things and make it work." initial community response was not as supportive. but since announcing it's proposal park and rec director matt salvatore says the committee has worked hard to show why the numbers don't support keeping 5 city pools open. he thinks people are hearing the message,. "people are starting to come around to the idea of splash pads and the impact they could have. free facilities for kids to use in the summer. they encourage us, if we do the aquatic center, to do it right. obviously nobody wants to see their swimming pool close." says director of parks & rec. director matt salvatore.
