a crow bar. sioux city police are now asking for your help in finding the suspects. on december 7th at approximately 2:40 am, 2 masked men kicked in the entry door to a home on the 26 hundred block of south alice street. the two men entered the home and had a handgun and a crowbar. the mother was held at gun point and the suspects tied and beat her special needs 18 to 19 year old son with a crowbar. the mother also has a 13 to 14 year old son who was home at the time, but the police department said that the younger son was unharmed. the people that the police say did this, made of with 2 tvs, 2 xboxs and a cell phone. the youngest son ran to a neighbor's house to call 911 after the home invasion occured. "we are activelyinvestigating the case and we're just basically asking for the public's help and any information in identifying the suspects responsible," said thompson. bria: the suspects also demanded money

is not related to any other thefts or assualts that have happened in the area. police say they are looking for two suspects in relation to the robbery, individuals have been described as masked men, one being around 6 foot, thin/slinder build. the other is being described as 5'8 to 5'11 thin build. anyone with information is urged to contact crime stoppers at 258-tips or by private message through sioux city police's facebook page a reward up to one thosand dollars will be given to anyone who helps in leading to the arrest ofthe suspects. reporting live in studio bria bell abc9 news tim: less than a week after a former sioux city school employee was sentenced for sexual misconduct with a student, the mother of that student is filing suit against the sioux city school district and employee erick deleon. the lawsuit claims that the school district failed to provide enough supervision to prevent her daughter from being exploited by deleon.

were no policies in place to prott the girl from the emotional damage her daughter sustained. no details about how much in damages the suit is seeking. tim: today was legislative day here in sioux city, jenna: it's an annual meeting where our local city council members and community leaders get the opportunity to meet with state legislatures while at today's meeting this morning at city call, local leaders talked about everything from the economy to railroads in sioux city. the meeting is intended to help leaders find innovative solutions to their challenges and to help move the community forward. elisa raffa brings us more from this year's meeting. elisa: sioux city council members jointly presented an agenda book of recent accomplishments and issues to be addressed in sioux city to state representatives this morning. among some of the topics discussed: taxes, economic development, body cameras, railroads, and work to improve and an expansion of trail systems throughout northwest iowa, which was just one of the

interest of the meeting, members of parks and recreation here in sioux city say they are working on a final plan to finish the trail along i-29. "by bolstering the trail system, it's going to help those communities...le mars, sergeant bluff, all of those in northwest iowa to pull together. and you can do more in partnerships than you can do alone" says dan moore, city council. elisa: rough estimates for the cost of the three mile trail running from chitaqua park to chris larson park, conclude the project could run a bill of three million dollars, with the inclusion of two bridges. overall, the project for the trail system could potentially cost ten million. sioux city parks and rec will have a better idea of costs and construction plans by the end of january. another hot topic at the meeting? police body cameras. coming up tonight at six we'll hear from city council members and the police chief explain the pros and cons of body cameras for our community. reporting live in studio, elisa

jenna: on the topic of police video cameras, the city of chicago has released another disturbing video that has their police department under the national spotlight yet again. this video showing police interacting with a suspect in jail, the same suspect later died while in a hospital. abc's elizabeth hur has more. "chicago's police department.. facing more criticism and questions after the release of this new video.. showing officers using a taser on a man inside a cell.. then dragging him down a hall.. he later died.. ((sot)) from family presser according to the autopsy.. the man.. 38-year-old philip coleman seen here on facebook.. died from an allergic drug reaction.. at the hospital. ((sot)) from family presser this happened back in december of 2012 and investigators ruled the officers were justified.. but chicago mayor rahm emanuel now says this case is not closed.. writing in a statement.. retires after the 2016 session. a handful of people were on hand today at morningside college when state senators rick bertrand and bill anderson both announced support for bossman. bertrand says it's not too early to go to work for bossman. "it put alot of us at ease within the party. he's hard working, he understands what needs to be done for sioux city. so again we got our candidate, i love it let's get to work we can focus on knocking on doors, raising some money and again talking to people from morningside and from sioux city and from the surrounding areaon what needs to be done for northwest iowa." tim: bossman, who is from sioux city, has worked as northwest iowa regional director for u.s. sen. chuck grassley since 2003. jenna: presidential candidate donald trump has politicians on both sides of the aisle condemning his most recent quote. yesterday trump announced his campaign's newest plan to combat terrorism in light of the terror attack in san bernardino last week. he says he wants to ban all muslims from entering the u-s. despite a swift

white house and most of his g-o-p rivals, trump seems to be standing his ground. trump: we have to look at people. we have to use vigilance in our country or we're going to have many more world trade centers and our country will never be the same. jenna: at rally last night in south carolina, trump supporters greeted the plan with cheers and applause. but his proposal isn't being warmly accepted by everyone. especially from his g-o-p rivals. jenna: that includes carly fiorina. she made a stop in des moines today saying she thinks trump's "overreaction" is dangerous . fiorina spoke at a town hall meeting with american enterprise employees. the presidental candidate trump is playing on everyone's worst fears. she also accused the current president of not doing enough. "donald trumps over reaction is as dangerous as barack obama's under reaction. barack obama, because he does not know how to fix the government or respond adequately to isis, is prepared to run over the constitution. so is

coming across the southern border. i think donald trump has done a good job focusing the american people's attention on the need to do so" cruz is comming off his best poll showing coming first in a monmouth poll released yesterday, and second in a cnn/orc poll, earning a backing of about a fifth of likely republican caucus goers jenna: president obama's recent call for more gun control has been good news for gun stocks. shares of gunmakers like smith and wesson and sturm, ruger jumped more than five percent monday. in fact, both companies have seen double-digit stock hikes since last week's mass shooting in san bernardino. mass shootings tend to boost u-s gun sales, jenna: still to come... a familiar company is trying to raise their sales online, but what does it mean for their door to door sales.
