where a crews are batttling a massive apartment fire. good morning and thanks for joining us this midday. i'm deborah souverain deborah we've gotten word thathe fire broke out around 10 a-m in sloan....at the prairie apartments on buckley street. as you can see here there's quite a bit of smoke billowing out of the building. wewee told that reredents were evacuated....andnd are currrrtly taking shelter at a nearby church. abc 9 reporter scene of the she tells us two people have been taken by ambulance due to unspecified injuries. deborah bria is joining us live via phone to describe what's gong on there.. hi bria..what can you tell us? you told us two people were taken by ambulance..any word on their injuries? do we know how many people were evacuated from

on this developing story as it comes in. deborah heavy snowfall can be a burden when you're out on the road.... however in one iowa city....it's t just drivers who are reeling from wintery road conditions... in rock valley...the city itself is having trouble simply affording the clean up. " parts of minnesota and iowa are preparing to bear the brunt of this storm. even though this season has had mild temperatures, the amount of snow fall has been well above normal. rock valley, iowa is expected to get several inches and

clear it out of the roads. residents are getting ready for another snow storm in rock valley. "welcome to iowa," chris heroneous said, "we have got to keep scooping, got plenty of snow and it's going to keep coming." "i like the snow, as long as we can keep that ice away, that's always a problem. so if it's just snow and we can keep the roads open that would be great," marshall rosenblad said. to keep the town's roads open, they need to be plowed. nine inches could fall during this storm and they're still cleaning up snow from last weekend. "i think we're at about 7 7 8 inches so it's piling on top of that current amount andndt causes some i iues," city administrator m van maanen said. one of those issues is money. the city administrator says this will be rock valley's fourth significant snow fall. "it puts an impact on our budget. we don't necessarily have a line item, but from based on overtime and supplies, the council will have to approve an amended budget at some point to pay for all the snow removal," van maanen explained. even though it's financial matter left completely up to one of those options you have that we're going to stop plowing snow in february, it just has to be done," van maanen said. so they'll just plow through it. the city administrator says money for plows could come out of

companies are busy helping clean up the snow. you might have seen their pick-up trucks plowing parking lots and walk-ways s ound siouxland yesterday. most of these companies specialize in lawn care but focus on snow removal during the winter. for travis from sharp lawn care... the snow is not a concern. travis chartier, sharp lawn care says, "this is great, this is a perfect time for us. this is what we live for basically. lot's of snow ... no problem we have plenty of men and plenty equipment. " the company had around 7 guys working in dakota dunes yesterday ... and chartier says they clean around 50 acres of snow on average each day. deborah and slick roads have caused a number of accidents already in the sioux city metro area. according to the sioux city police department....the city averages between ten and 15 crashes on a winter day.. however they say...there are multiple factors that contribute to that. city officials say,

crashes occured on november 20th, which saw the first snowfall of the winter. that day there were 36 wrecks in town. take yleh stinger now on to the race to the white house... four republican presidential candidates will speak to new hampshire lawmakers in the final weeks of the state's primary campaign. donald trump, carly fiorina and jim gilmore will address new hampshire's house of representatives on january 7th. john kasich will speak on january 20th. new hampshire's primary is on february 9th. a c-n-n poll this month showed trump with 26 percent support in the state. the other three candidates slated to address new hampshire lawmakers....are all in the single digits. pitching themselves to legislators is part of their last big push for momentum...in the first in the nation primary state. deborah the campaign trail is also heating up in the first in the

later today florida senator... marco rubio will be making a stop in sioux city as part of his tour across iowa. rubio's campaign says he will be joined by a "special guest," whose name hasn't been released. rubio plans on speaking tonight in sioux city at 6:15 p.m. at the holiday inn on gordon drive a sioux center man has been sentenced to two years in prison for making sexual advances on a 14- year-old girl. 43-year-old danny barnes has plead guilty to assault with intent to commit sex abuse. this stems back to july of 2014...when police say barnes' began contacting a girl who was a friend of his family. barnes was sentenced on this lesser charge after originally being charged with felony sexual abuse. norfolk's economic development director is gearing up for a new job for the state of nebraska. here's paul hughes with the details. from school got a fun lesson in health monday. sunnybrook community church put on "ninja warrior camp" yesterday at morningside college's hper (hyper) center. the idea is to get kids off the couch and keep them active while they're not in school. the kids went through 10 different stations in 10 minute intervals. they also learned about healthy nutrition. "it is grueling, like you said it's something where they're getting great exercise, they're learning about healthy nutrition, and they're having fun doing it at the same time. and yet the feedback i've gotten from the kids is they've enjoyed it." says coordinator matt holmes around 350 kids are taking part in ninja warrior
