pilot whose plane crashed in rural nebraska over the weekend. tim the louisiana man was suppose to land in sioux city... but was diverted to the wayne airport because of foggy conditions. tonight... we'll hear some of his final words to air traffic control. the pilot is belived to be chris birk of louisiana. that's according to an area pilot and a coworker of the man. he was flying the cessna 172 when it crassunday evening. birk is employed by performance contractors, which is the company doing construction on the c-f industries expansion. one of birk's coworkers tells a-b-c 9 that chris' family will hold his funeral back home this week. jenna chris had last stopped in columbia, missouri to fuel up, when he ran into the bad weather. tonight we're sharing the last communication chris had with air traffic control before his plane crashed near pender. approach this is you read me?" jenna: chris birk was nearly at sioux gateway airport when he was denied because of low jenna: he was airport in wayne, nebraska.

investigation on scene and have taken the debris to colorado for further research. they hope to have a cause of the crash determined by next week. tim: the fbi is confirming that a santee man who was the focus of a manhunt earlier this week has died. spokesperson says when police attempted to place him in custody, the man shot himself, claiming his own life. f-b-i and knox county officials say 25-year-old david hoffman was transsported to a nebraska hospital, where he died of his self inflicted gunshot wound. officials says no law enforcement officers fired their weapons during the encounter and the gun hoffman used is currently undergoing ballistics testing. an autopsy has been scheduled for hoffman's body. hoffman was on the run from police, after assaulting and disarming a police officer after a botched arrest. jenna: presidential candidate rand paul celebrated his birthday in sioux city today. but it didnt get in the way of his

president. paul and his wife met with voters at the sioux city public library downtown. his remarks included his reaction to the president's executive actions to extend gun control laws. he says the president's plan takes the balance away from the branches of the u-s government. "you know i think north korea is one of the few nuclear powers that really has some instability, is putting it lightly, in their leadership and it is a real problem. i think the only way we're going to be able to influence their behavior is through our pressure, sanctions, and international pressure from all the countries that surround them." say presidential candidate rand paul. more than 50 people were in attendance at the meet and greet, voters say paul won them over with his stance on the current issues "i really like that he is liberal with his social policies, he wants to take control of our debt which is huge. i really that he's not looking to start a war with anybody. it would take him messing up alot to lose my vote." says rand paul supporter amanda johnson. paul also made a

"sound of snow mobile" the city of lemars recently updated ordinance number 9- 29, which deals with all-terrain vehicles and snowmobiles. allowing the vehicles to be driven on city streets. "what this new ordinance does is combine them both. so where an atv can drive, a snow mobile can drive," said vacurah. vacurah says that if the community did not push for the
