the lives of a mother and her three children. "i want the people to understand tt bullying is not right, " some siouxland students are using their love of film...to fight bullying. "and this is why iowa and new hampshire are so great," said chris christie. new jersey governor chris christie stops in siouxland...ahead of the first in the nation caucus deborah: good evening and than joining us... i'm deborah souverain. a small community is heartbroken tonight after a devastating loss. deborah a fire broke out overnight in boxholm iowa....claiming the lives of a mother and her three young children. fire fighters believe a space heater ignited the flames in the back of their home.

about themselves in the process. sot: "they all had common experiences and that they could work together. it wasn't deviding by cliques ... i know this group so i am going to work with this group. they all had that experience in common." vo: they spent their winter exploration term working on the film ... every weekday for two weeks. part of that process was also finding the topic. and while bullying is tough for mostpeopop to talk about ... these students wanted a challenge ... and also something that effects them. sot: "the students took that idea and ran with it. a lot of it came back to being judged, diversity awareness and bullying so that's how they came up with the scene." nats: board explaining vo: i asked the students to write one word on the board that would describe their experience during the film ... and what became clear was that for many of them ... this was not just another school project. sot: "it can show that just one person out of the whatever

now turning to the race for the white house deborah gop contender chris christie stopped by sioux city today for a town hall meeting. more than a hundred people turned out for the event at buffalo alice this evening. the gop candidate got a lot of appluase when speaking out against president barak obama's recent state of the union address....and the iranian hostage swap. christie said fighting terrorism..adjusti ng the judicial process...and combating drug abuse are the core issues he will focus if he becomes president. "...so i am not ready by a long shot to conceid this race to anyone. and the fact is iowans want people who are willing to do this..who are willing to come to sioux city on a sunday afternoon and spend a couple hours looking you in the eyes, taking your questions, and giving you answers." with just twtw weeks before the iowa caucus...the e& new jersey governor continues to poll in the single

deborah a new poll shows hillary clinton with a crushing lead over fellow democrat bernie sanders. clinton has 59- percent support from democratic primary voters nationwide.....acco rding to the nbc news/wall street journal poll. that's compared to 34-percent for sanders. but sanders would do better than clinton.... in a hypothetical match-up against donald trump. based on a separate poll by the same news organizations... sanders would beat trump by 15- points, compared to clinton's ten- point advantage. deborah and speaking bernie sanders...his wife jane will be campaiging on his behalf in thth hawkeye state. jane sanders...will be making appearances in estherville, spencer and storm lake on tuesday....january 19th. she will kick off her trip alongside bernie...in fort dodge on tuesday...before going solo. jane will then re-join sanders for a town hall in sioux city. deborah it's a historic weekend for iran....

sanctions against the country have been lifted. it comes as several americans detained in iran finally make their way back home. iran's president said the deal -- in exchange for checks on its nuclear program -- was a tool for the progress, growth and development of the country. president obama hailed the power of diplomacy in dealing with iran. price for americans. if you take an american hostage, barack obama will cut a deal for -- with you, whether it's bergdahl, what he did with the castro brothers and now what he's done with iran." deborah a new ag giant is in the making. a 130-billion dollar merger between two companies has a city in central iowa hoping for some big news. in mid-december the dow chemical company and dupont announced their agreement to merge as one. iowa state and city officials...say it makes sense to have the company's quarters in the city of johnston. "we are confident based on presence here arleady and business climate we offer, we're positioned well. we wont take it for granted. " once the merger is finalized,the company dubbed "dow-dupont" will split into three "independent companies." one focusing on sese sales, one on

speciality products. officials havent released where those three companies will be headquartered. the dow-dupont merger is expected to be finalized sometime after june of this year. deborah many people braved the cold today...to head to the quad cities farm show. more than 200 companies attented the event. farmers saw a wide range of items from seeds to livestock equipment. the show's director says now is the best time for the show... because farmers are in between harvest and planting seasons. he also says farmers are more high tech than you may think. "you gotta know high technology, how to use it. you better know the price of the crop you're gonna get. you better know what your input costs are, gps systems to plot your ground. it's a very sophisticated business today. center in rock island. deborah hundreds of disney fans headed to the putnam museum today, to sing along to their favorite movieie... frozen. this event has apparently been sold out for weeks. kids attending the event dressed up just like their favorite characters in the film. there were face painters, a snow machine and coloring for all.... and taylor wiebers, miss iowa, even made an appearance. organizers say despite the cold weather they had a huge turnout. " "kim findlay/putnam museumumnd science ceo it's important to do these kinds of things in our community because it brings family together and anytime we can have grandmas, great grandmas and dads and moms and children actually participate in activities together that sa great family time and that's one thing putnam brings to our community. more than 200 people attended the event. because it was so popular, organizers plan on having another frozen event in the future.

over in ames this weekend... its lego wars! teams from across the state came together to compete in iowa's first lego league championship at the i-s-u college of engineering.. our affiliate in des moines gives us a look inside the heated competiton. "3 2 1 lego we're dong junior first lego league which is for 6-9 year old children they're building lego o dels they're dong research we want to show them that when you're an engineer or a scientist or a mathmatician it's a really creative area so we're hoping by showing them that today they go on and think about that for their future they've never done this in a championship setting before so it's just putting them at ease letting them know we're all here to help them out from table 21 260 the lego league lions it's a critical age for us to say math is really cool science is really cool you can do it through fun things that you play with at home like legos which is a wonderful toy but there's a lot of mathmatical inclanation in it
