colleagues for braving the conditions and showing up to work. u.s. house of representatives canceled all votes until next week. schools in the district returned to class today. jenna: local authorities are looking for for a man who is now on escape status after not returning to his work release program. they are loking for 26 year old jacob michael petty, after he failed to report yesterday. petty is serving time for robbery. this past october he was transfered to the work release program. anyone with information is asked to contact sioux city police department tim: and armed hotel robbery led to a lockdown at norfolk elementary and middle schools today. superintendent dr. jami jo thompson says that they closed just as an extra precaution, and that she doesn't thing there was a significant threat to students, teachers or staff. the lockdown began just before 11 this morning after a robbery at the hampton inn in norfolk. exterior doors were locked and students and teachers were kept inside, but the school day proceeded as normal.

it seems that a local college senior will get to bring his parents all teh way from nigera to see him graduate. friends set up a go fund me page for paul johnson, the student body president at morningside college. his parents have never been to the u-s, but were hoping to raise $4,000 to see their son accept his diploma. that goal was reached and now paul's parents are in the process of applying for their travel visas. tim: we are learning more about that deadly confrontation between federal and state law enforcement officers...and an armed anti- government group in oregon. one person is dead and others -- under arrest -- after tensions boiled over. abc's ray raimundi has the latest on the investigation .
