"the process in moving forward in years to come is we'll have to factor those into our operational budget, to rotate that equipment, as it wears out or needs updates in future years. " footage from the cameras can help with a number of things-- ranging from evidence in a courtroom-- to training purposes. "it provides us that much more ability to capture information, capture video during incidents, during investigations and to also maintain a record of officers demanors." lt. chris cole says he's happy about the added surveilance-- it captures footage that dash cams can't-- and protects officers forced into hands-on situations. "a lot of people lie to the police, and uh when thihis go to court, a lot of time, it's the officers word against the suspect or the defendants word." seeing as how they pride themselves on transparency-- and protecting the public--adapting to the body cameras isn't that big of a challenge for the storm lake p-d. "i'm confident in what our officers do and how they uh present themelves and how they react to

nation duty. not just to pick winners of the caucuses, but to weed the candidates out who weren't gaining traction. :47 steffen: caucus night in iowa was an opportunity for some individuals to say i'm just not connecting and i'm dropping out and the did. schmidt says other lower tier candidates who are trying to hang in there after the caucuses may not have much time left. 2:30 i know some of those are still hoping that new hampshire will save their campaign and i think some of them are delusional, they just don't fit into this year's republican environment. tim: dr. schmidt says candidates like carly fiorina, john kasich, and chris christie are hoping to bounce back after new hampshire but if they don't do well there, they may call it quits. jenna: a sioux city reprsentative has introduced legistation in the iowa hous that would make a big difference for parents of children who have autism.

supporting insurance coverage for autism met at the capital today... including a delegation from siouxland. blue t-shirts and puzzle pieces were set up in the capitol rotunda to catch the eye of lawmakers. a bill introduced by republican ron jorgensen of sioux city would require insurance companies to cover autismtreatment. as it stands now, often that treatment isn't covered d even for doctor recommended care. "a lot of our families do have to relocate at times or they go without services. so that's a pretty desperate place to be in. as well as all of our surrounding states and 42 other states in the country have passed similar legislation. so really iowa is a little bit behind the curve when it comes to serving this type of population." jenna: josh cobbs from sioux city is the father of a 15- year-old with autism. he's been working on this bill for 10 years and hopes this could be the year it actually gets passed. tim: muslim students on the campus of the university of iowa now have a safe place to pray on campus. the muslim student association held an inauguration ceremony to open

reporter brea love has the story " more than 30 thousand students attend the university of iowa. so you can imagine campus is constantly packed with people. which makes finding a quiet area to pray, hard for students like mohammad ismail. mohammed ismail stent whenever i was looking for a room, i kinda would go through the imu and try to find something that's available, which is not the case like at 2 or 2pm, or i'd have to go on top of a staircase and just pray there and hope walk by and start because we can't talk when we pray." many other msa members felt the same way. that's when the group decided to reach out. after a month of discussion and planning with university officials, they found a solution. lyn redington dean of students "we identified a couple of rooms that have been used as offices since the flood that happened many years ago. they are no longer needed for offices so we're able to change those to prayer and meditation spaces." two new completely renovated rooms. one for men and

ismail says getting this space is a step forward for not only the group, but the university as a whole. to delay their signing day celebrations until today. one of those was sioux center's ko kieft who's heheing north to play for the nnesota golden gophers. this past season kieft threw for just short of 2000 yards and 19 touchdowns and added 11 more scores on the ground. defensively he led the warriors with 50 and a half tackles, including three sacks. the gophers project kieft as a tight end/h-back type and he's excited for the opportunity to play big time college football. ko kieft--"i think it's just the chancncto play fbs football, to play in the big g n has always been a dream of mine. to play schools like iowa and ohio state, thats just a chance you really can't pass up. it's really nice to get it done and i really love the coaches and the place." to ko. seven heelan crusaders also signed national letters of intent today. branden hohenstein passed up scholarship offers to d-2 schools to accept a w wk-on

pounder had nearly 500 receiving yards and four touchdowns for the crusaders this year and he says its an opportunity he couldn't pass up. branden hohenstein--"i've been a lifetime fan of nebraska and it's just been one of my dreams to play for nebraska. so i decided why not give it a shot. it's awesome just to finally get a chance to show them what i can do." he's not the only crusader heading to a division 1 school... lauren bleeker will head down highway 20 to continue her soccer career at the university of northern iowa. bleeker had a hand in both goals in heelan's state championship last spring and even with a coaching change at uni, she says its a good fit for her. lauren bleeker--"i'm very excited. i decided about a year ago that i--that it would be the best fit for me. i felt like because i've had family members go there, that it was familiar to me." five other crusaders also

ability to be former siouxlanders cole and landan paulsen...they showed that off last night. at halftime of the basketball game current iowa some of their hawkeye dance team to put on quite a show. wearing number 64, levi wearing 66 and landan out there and then check out the show stopping finish. yes...that's a pair of 6 foot 5, 290 the splits...one of the most incredible things i've seen in a long time.
