jon karl joins me. >> rubio ran right into a buzz saw named chris christie. his team hopes that because the super bowl is tonight, voters will be distracted and move on to something else. in so far as it hurts rubio, it may have helped john kasich. he was above the fray, with a positive message you could see resonating in new hampshire. >> does trump get any type of boost going into the primary? >> it seems that trump solidified his front runner status. nobody really touched him. he seemed as confident as ever today, and if possible, even more confident.

"gma" and "world news" live from new hampshire on tuesday, and full coverage tuesday night. and to the scary scene in london, the quiet shattered by this explosion. but when the dust settled, the word got around, that moment was made in hollywood. jennifer eccleston, reporting in from london. >> reporter: an iconic double-decker bus, crossing a bridge, suddenly burstininto flames. debris flying into the air. >> oh, my god! >> reporter: the scene, so realistic, so terrifying. many didn't know what was

>> it was quite a drama. >> reporter: author sophie kinsella was at a nearby playground with her kids this morning. >> it thought it was possibly a major event. >> reporter: but the explosion on london's lambeth bridge, just a stunt for action star jackie chan's new film, "the foreigner." nigel huddlestone catching it on camera. clearly aware it was staged. the production team sent out this flyer alerting the public, saying, "the explosion is controlled." but not everyone was informed. bringing back memories of the other time a london bus was targeted, the deadly terror attacks in the summer of 2005. some finding the similarit insensitive. city officials reassured the public the explosion was just a stunt, but in these times of heightened terror fears, even fiction can hit too close to home. tom?

turning now to taiwan, where new drone images of the extensive damage caused by the 6.4-magnitude quake. crews believe 100 people are still burd in the debris of this apartment building. at least 32 people killed by the earthquake. and north korea, sparking new fears with a missile lnch. north korea has vowed to build a nuclear missile that could hit the mainland. back to a philadelphia suburb, and a rescue from an icy pond. three boys crashing through. one boy was able to get out on his own. but rescue teams using an

and thin ice also affecting othersarking to get to a winter festival. turns out it was on the lake itself. here's gloria riviera. >> reporter: tonight a scene, what started with a crack in the ice, ended with over a dozen vehicles submerged in the frigid waters of wisconsin's lake geneva. those drivers, sure they had left them in a good spot. >> we came down, we saw that people were parked on the ice so we said, "heck yeah! let's park on the ice." >> reporter: they did. heading off to a local winter festival. conor long snapped this photo showing car after car in the background tightly packed together. within hours, this -- >> we have vehicles through the ke with no subjects in it. we need manpower. >> reporter: emergency crews, crawling out on thin ice to save cars. at least ten are a total loss. >> they were all parked basically within arm's reach of one another. that's a lot of weight for ten inches of ice. >> reporter: safety experts say ice must be 8 to 12 inches thick to hold a car or small pickup. 12 to 15 inches thick for a mid-size truck.

>> reporter: ballinger, whose father owns a famous new york club, is charged with first-degree attempted rape. >> the speed in which the case was taken from the university and brought to authorities, they believe they have a strong case, >> reporter: according to court documents, the alleged victim claims ballinger tried forcing himself on her in s fraternity house bedroom "several times," despite her saying, "i don't want to." in a statement to abc news, ballinger's attorney denies the accusations, saying, "wolfgang ballinger is not guilty of the charges that have been filed against him." cornell university president elizabeth garrett released this statement, after suspending "sexual violence has no place at we will be considering what additional steps should be taken to ensure the greek communitat cornell is living up to our institutional standard of excellence and respect for others." a sentiment shared by students

teens, allegededly preying on retirement homes to make quick cash. police help to catch them before scamming more vulnerable seniors. here's aditi roy. >> reporter: tonight, the hunt is on for the two young women in this surveillance video, who police say have scammed residents of at least three retirement homes around houston. with the shake of a hand and a bounce in their step, watch as the women appear to sweet-talk their way into this apartment at the hallmark retirement community. >> they're very smooth. said they were the granddaughter of one of my other residents, so she let them in. >> reporter: the retirement home says the women claimed to be from a nearby high school, collecting money for a band trip. minutes later, they come out of the apartment, with a $250 check, and a victory dance. later, the resident had second thoughts and cancelled the check. so far, the pair has stolen hundreds of dollars from seniors. police, reminding the public, always ask for an i.d., before giving money to solicitors. >> our goal is to get this
